Candy Pop's fall occurs when he makes the fatal mistake of gazing into the black mirror. Night Terrors, whose power is to absorb the souls of living beings, takes the appearance of a loved one to trap the Genyr. Candy Pop, believing he sees his lover, leans in for a closer look — the demon grabs him by the hair and tears his heart and soul from his body .
However, rather than becoming a mere absorbed soul, Candy Pop fuses directly with Night Terrors' spirit in a desperate attempt to stop him. This fusion creates a single entity: Candy Pop and Night Terrors are now one being . Since this event, the fused entity seeks to take the souls of others to gain more power.
In some versions of the legend, Candy Pop has a twin sister named Candy Cane, also a Genyr, who shares his tragic fate and murderous tendencies . Legend says they may have been gifts from the Queen of Ireland to her children, or perhaps gifts from angels corrupted by human wickedness .
