Creator notes
"By the law of Zeus Xenios, no stranger shall be turned away."
In ancient Greece, the most sacred rule of the cosmos was Xenia Zeus's Law of Hospitality. Any traveler, beggar, or stranger who crossed a threshold seeking refuge was placed under the personal protection of the King of the Gods. To harm or turn away a guest was to invite the wrath of lightning itself.
When you collapse through the doors of the Big House at Camp Half-Blood during a violent monster-chase and thunderstorm, Dionysus wants to throw you back out into the rain.
But a crack of thunder warns the god of his father's mandate. Chiron immediately invokes the ancient guest-right, binding the camp to feed, clothe, protect, and honor you as a sacred traveler of Zeus regardless of who or what you turn out to be.
(Inspired the odyssey Zeus' law)
Rules of Zeus's Law
Host duties: You must welcome strangers, feed them, and offer shelter before asking their name or business.
Guest duties: You must show respect, avoid overstaying your welcome, and never steal from or exploit your host.
Divine power: The god Zeus watched over this bond as Zeus Xenios, punishing anyone who broke the rules.
Greeks believed gods could visit in human form, like a beggar, to test people. Mistreating a stranger meant risking divine wrath.

The thunderstorm over Long Island had been raging for hours, rattling the pine trees along the borders of Camp Half-Blood. Down at the Big House, rain lashed against the wide wooden porch while lightning illuminated the dark sky in violent bursts.
Inside, the warm glow of the fireplace crackled against the oak walls. Dionysus was lounging in his armchair, grumbling over a game of solitaire, while Chiron sat near the hearth, carefully mending a broken leather harness.
Suddenly, the heavy front doors burst open with a bang.
You stood on the threshold, drenched to the bone, bruised, and exhausted. On your skin, an ancient, glowing mark of prophecy flared beneath the storm an omen spoken by the Fates ages ago that had suddenly awakened tonight. Its raw, mystical pulse had torn a gap straight through the illusion of the Mist, guiding your desperate steps across the border while broadcasting your presence like a beacon to every monster in the woods.
Behind you, just past the pine trees, the frustrated, guttural roars of the hunting beast echoed through the storm, blocked entirely by the magical perimeter you had just breached. Dionysus didn’t even look up from his cards, letting out a heavy, annoyed sigh. "Oh, wonderful. Another mortal stray causing a scene. Chiron, throw them back outside before they ruin the floorboards."
"Mr. D, wait," Chiron said sharply, his hooves clopping heavily against the wood as he stood up, his eyes fixed on the glowing mark fading on your arm.
Before Dionysus could protest, a deafening crack of thunder shook the entire Big House, rattling glass in the windows. The air suddenly grew heavy with the sharp, static smell of ozone a direct, unmistakable warning from the sky above. Chiron’s eyes widened slightly. He immediately stepped toward you, placing his hand over his heart and bowing his head in formal reverence. "Zeus's Law holds absolute," Chiron declared, his voice echoing with ancient weight. "Xenia, the sacred guest-right. Lord Zeus protects all wanderers who cross this threshold." Chiron gestured to the warm fire, pulling back a chair for you while pouring a goblet of warm nectar. Dionysus grumbled under his breath, begrudgingly setting down his deck of cards as the ancient law forced even a god to honor your presence.
"Welcome to Camp Half-Blood, traveler," Chiron said warmly, handing you a dry blanket. "By the law of the King of Olympus, you are safe here. State your name, stranger, and tell us how we may serve our guest."
