The heavy yellow school bus lets out a loud, shuddering hiss of air brakes, rolling to a stop in front of the main lodge of Lake Havenfield Camp. The afternoon sun is blazing down, painting the rustic wooden cabins and the sparkling water of the lake in a warm, golden light. Standing at the front gates, Head Counselor Time is leaning casually against a wooden signpost, a camp whistle swinging around his thick neck as he shares a quiet, amused laugh with Logistics Director Laswell, who is checking off names on a digital clipboard.
"Alright, listen up!" Laswell's clear, authoritative voice echoes across the gravel driveway as the crowd of campers tumbles out of the bus, dragging heavy trunks, duffel bags, and tactical rucksacks behind them. "Boys to Cabin A on the left, girls to Cabin B on the right. You have exactly one hour to claim a bunkbed, unpack your gear, and report to the mess hall. Move it!"
The separation is immediate and chaotic. A massive wave of heavy combat boots, sneakers, and sandals splits down the center path.
Inside Cabin B, the screen door slams shut with a loud, wooden SMACK, and the race for the best mattress officially turns into an Olympic sport. The room smells of old pine wood, lake breeze, and immediate teenage territorial warfare.
"This bunk is officially under pirate jurisdiction! Touch it and I’ll toss you into the lake!" Tetra barks, violently slamming her heavy, leather-bound cutlass case onto the sturdiest bottom bunk right next to the window. She crosses her arms over her faded denim jacket, glaring fiercely down the line of girls to establish her dominance.
"Oh, please. Keep your voice down, you little loudmouth," Midna groans dramatically from the opposite side of the room. The tall, elegant Twili princess is already lounging completely flat across a top bunk, trailing a pale hand over the side of the wooden frame as she fanning herself with a camp brochure. "This humidity is an absolute crime against my complexion. If someone doesn't install a proper cooling charm in this shack within the next five minutes, I am going to become deeply unpleasant."
"Ooh, look at the structural integrity of these ceiling beams! Snap!" Purah shrieks with hyperactive excitement. She is standing flat on her own mattress, her round glasses slipping down her nose as she frantically loops a thick rope around the rafters, trying to rig an automated pulley system to hoist her heavy metal trunk directly up to the top bunk. "If I calculate the tension vectors correctly, I won't have to carry a single bag! {{user}}, catch the end of this rope! Let's test the velocity!"
Right in the center of the room, Sophie Foster stands completely frozen, clutching her backpack to her chest with white-knuckled grip, her amber eyes wide as she tries to process the sheer volume of the room. Beside her, Biana is already systematically unpacking an absurd, multi-layered vanity case, lining up glowing crystal skincare bottles across a dusty wooden shelf.
"I cannot believe we have to sleep on literal straw," Stina complains loudly, aggressively punching her flat pillow with a disgusted scowl. "Marella, stop doing that! You're going to set the curtains on fire!"
"They're not straw, Stina, it's foam," Marella shoots back smoothly, though she doesn't stop idly snapping her fingers, sending tiny, harmless orange sparks dancing through the air just to watch them fade. Nearby, Liah and Marcua are already huddled by the back window, giggling and whispering about whether the boys' cabin has a clear view of the lake, while Farah quietly slides a neat row of fantasy novels under her bed.
Princess Zelda from Spirit Tracks is bouncing on her heels right by the doorway, her proper royal posture completely melting into pure, unadulterated excitement. She turns toward you, her eyes shining as she takes in the utter madness of the room. "Isn't this magnificent, {{user}}? A real, authentic rustic adventure! Piper says we can hang a dreamcatcher over the door to keep the spirits away! Which bunk are you taking? The top one next to Purah's explosive pulley system looks entirely thrilling!"
Every single bunkbed is rapidly filling up with sleeping bags, blankets, and loose gear. The springs are squeaking, suitcases are popping open, and twenty different conversations are crashing into each other.

The separation is immediate and chaotic. A massive wave of heavy combat boots, sneakers, and sandals splits down the center path.
Inside Cabin A, the screen door opens with a violent screech of rusty hinges, and the space instantly fills with the heavy, thudding impact of tactical rucksacks and duffel bags hitting the bare floorboards. The room smells of old wood, damp lake air, and immediate, unfiltered competitive energy.
"Top bunk in the dark corner is mine. Stay out of my perimeter," Ghost growls, his low, lethal voice vibrating through the cramped room. He doesn't even unpack; he simply vaults his massive, heavily muscled frame straight onto the mattress, sitting cross-legged with his arms crossed over his chest, his iconic skull mask staring down into the room like a gargoyle.
"Oh, come off it, LT! It's summer camp! Lighten up!" Soap bellows with a booming, joyful Scottish laugh. He completely disregards the threat, aggressively throwing his dirty rucksack onto the bottom bunk directly beneath Ghost, making the entire wooden frame groan under the weight. He turns to the room, a wild, mischievous glint in his blue eyes. "Alright, lads! Who's up for a midnight raid on the girls' kitchen stash? I've already got the smoke bombs packed!"
"Save the ordnance for the field, Johnny," Captain Price chuckles smoothly, stepping onto the cabin's wooden porch and leaning against the railing. He pulls a fresh cigar from his pocket, lighting it with a small click of his lighter, his rugged face softened by a relaxed, cool-uncle smirk as he watches the younger boys lose their minds. Gaz stands right behind him, carrying two massive trunks with an easy, athletic shrug, helping Dex carry a tangled pile of wires.
"Hey! Percy, watch the upholstery!" Fitz yells, quickly jumping backward as a fluffy white feather pillow catches him dead in the chest.
Percy Jackson lets out a loud, chaotic laugh, standing flat on a mattress in the center aisle with a second pillow raised like a shield. His sea-green eyes are bright with mischief. "First rule of camp, Fitz! Shield yourself at all times! Leo, hit him from the flank!"
"On it, Captain!" Leo Valdez shrieks, his fingers twitching with frantic mechanical anxiety as he crawls under a nearby bunk frame. He’s already using a pocketknife and a copper wire to secretly modify the wooden bedposts, trying to rig an automated, fire-powered snack dispenser into the wood. "Dex, toss me that flashlight! I need the battery!"
Over in the corner, Keefe is floating entirely upside down off his top bunk, his legs hooked over the rafter beams as he munchies on a bag of stolen camp chips. A massive, delighted smirk is plastered across his face as his Empath abilities hit an absolute goldmine. "Oh, the sheer, beautiful panic in this room is spectacular. Fitz is stressing about his designer luggage, the scary guy in the skull mask wants to murder everyone, and the kid over there is trying to scale the wall."
Keefe points a chip toward the back corner. Wind, the twelve-year-old sailor, is currently dangling by his hands from the ceiling rafters, swinging back and forth like a monkey while letting out loud pirate battle cries. Wild is sitting flat on the floor directly beneath him, completely shirtless and deeply focused on trying to clean a raw fish he caught with his bare hands over a tiny, flickering candle flame.
"Wild, I swear to Hylia, put the fish away before the counselors smell it!" Twilight groans, rubbing his temples with an expression of pure, bone-deep exhaustion as he tries to pry Wind off the ceiling. Alejandro and Rudy are already sitting on their perfectly made, military-tucked bunkbeds across the aisle, watching the absolute circus with wide, highly amused eyes.
Alex leans against your shoulder with a relaxed, easygoing grin, tossing a spare sleeping bag onto the remaining empty bunkbed right in the center of the chaos. "Well, {{user}}, welcome to the asylum. If you want to survive the night without Leo setting your mattress on fire or Percy drowning us in a pillow fight, I suggest you claim your spot right now. You want the top or the bottom?"
The springs are squeaking, pillows are flying, and twenty different voices are screaming over the noise.
You are standing in the center aisle with your gear. What do you do?
