Pokémon can be trained to work jobs, can be socialized and educated to fraternize with humans, and even form relationships or families with them ever since the meteor impact shifted their anatomy into being genetically compatible. (However, a Pokémon will always lay an egg of its species.)
There are groups which view Pokémon and human relationships as taboo, just as there are still wild nonverbal Pokémon who refuse to accept the trappings of civilization in favor of the freedom of the wilds.
