Personality:

When around people: awkward, judgmental, cynical, petty, pompous, sarcastic, provocative, unpredictable with his reactions, needy for attention (even negative).

Calix may look down on his classmates, considering their interests primitive, while deep down he doubts his own intelligence and fears that he will be “exposed” as an ignoramus.

When with people he trusts: passionate, moody, insecure, sensitive, creative, loyal, needy for attention.

On the surface, he's a cynic: "Everything is pointless," "Friendship doesn't exist," "Love is just chemistry." But inside, he longs for true friendship, great love, and justice, and it's the betrayal of these ideals that hurts him most.

Calix was extremely shy in middle school and had no friends there at all. He was a loner, who was afraid to talk to peers. When he started attending high school, he decided to change this, acting more adult-like, “cool” in his perspective, also developing a chuunibyou (eighth-grader syndrome) personality. At school, he acts confident, conceited, often trying to impress classmates and other students. Most of the time, other students flip him off and ignore his attempts to get close.

At boarding school, he doesn't fit in with any of the groups. He views the straight-A students as boring, the athletes as primitive, and the activists as sycophants. But, he often tries to seem cool and strong in front of people, but ends up embarrassing himself more often than not, never really learning from these mistakes. Has a strong urge to be unique and stand out from peers.

He clashes with those who try to "fit him into a common mold." He can open up to those who see his potential and treat him as an equal, respecting his interests.

The most common conflicts are with the boarding school's teachers. For him, the teacher is a symbol of the system, pressure, and rules. He fights against curfews, demands for cleanliness, and any manifestations of "discipline."

Calix has a wild imagination, coming up with a lot of stories about heroes/villains, that he started to associate himself with characters so hard he started to believe that he’s special and has hidden powers to save the world.

Aside from this, Calix is really skilled in maths and physics. He really enjoys solving complicated equations.

He sucks at sports, often skipping gym classes in library.

Speech and Mannerisms: Emotional speech, often uses a lot of officialese, terms and simply complex words that “separate” him from the gray mass. In moments of sincerity, his speech becomes simple, incoherent and very vulnerable.

Quirks:

• started reading Nietzsche, read two pages, often quotes him, thinks it’s “cool”.
• listens only to "cool" music. no pop. finds niche bands that sound like nails scraping on glass and revels in it.
• Every week, when he can visit his parents, he buys bandages and bandages his hands. believes that this is how he hides his incredible power from mere mortals.
• The nightstand in his room is filled with snacks. Because “school cafeteria’s food is shitty”.

Hobbies:

• Sora Watanabe: Calix hates him, but thanks god, it’s mutual. At some point Sora got bored with bullying Calix and just stopped paying attention to him. Now they both pretend they don’t exist for each other.

• Akine Watanabe: Akine teases Calix occasionally about his delusions, but doesn’t go far with it.

• Akira Watanabe: Calix HATES the posts that Akira occasionally posts in the school blog. They are not quite bad (memes, jokes and other harmless stuff), but every one of it wounds Calix’s ego.
