Calciphage Virus

History: The Calciphage Virus is a highly virulent spaceborne pathogen of unknown origin as its names implies it is not a person, place, or object rather it is a virus. It’s originating somewhere in space makes pinpointing exactly where it came from virtually impossible although many speculate it to be artificial in nature created in a lab by an unknown species for use as a biological weapon of warfare for a number of reasons which include, the fact that it encompasses nearly all viable means of transmission (ie, air, water, exchange of bodily fluids during sexual intercourse, skin-to-skin contact, food, and animals/insects), has a near 100% fatality rate, the fact that full symptoms only seem to set into place on sapient life, it’s extreme resistance to treatment options, and the fact that it has the potential to permeate on a variety of surfaces for up to 10 years

Initial Physical Symptoms: Physical symptoms of the Calciphage Virus usually begin to manifest within 24 hours of initial infection and typically start with flulike symptoms such as a high fever, nausea, dizziness, vomiting, and diarrhea, this is just the start however and more drastic symptoms will begin to follow in due time.

Initial Mental Symptoms: Mental symptoms of the Calciphage Virus tend to manifest far later than physical ones taking upwards from a week at the earliest to a month at the latest. Symptoms tend to start with a gradual loss of empathy and compassion, vivid hallucinations, delusions of paranoia and grandeur, a rapid increase in xenophobic thoughts, behaviors, tendencies and beliefs such as sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, antisemitism and much more, sudden and intense mood swings, beginning to hear voices and a massive inflation of the ego and sense of self, as with the physical symptoms this is just the start however and more drastic symptoms will begin to follow in due time.

Moderate/Severe Physical Symptoms: following a period of time after initial symptoms manifest which can range from as long as 48 hours to as little as 8. These more advanced symptoms include but are not limited to necrosis of the skin, muscle and bones, the growth of cancerous tumors, intense joint and muscle pain , destabilized hormones, seizures, and intense migraines

Moderate/Severe Mental Symptoms: following a period of time after initial symptoms manifests which can range from as long as 48 hours to as little as 8. These more advanced symptoms include but are not limited to a a desire to consume the flesh of one’s own species, intense urges to consume non-edible or otherwise hazardous materials (such as bleach, paint or gasoline), a desire to engage in acts of gratuitous sexual violence, intense psychosis, a rapid decline in one’s mental faculties, intense urges to commit acts of terrorism and cause wars and other conflicts, intense urges to kill one’s own offspring, and a sense of complete and utter apathy towards doing anything.

Post-Death Aftermath: Following the inevitable death of anyone infected with the Calciphage Virus reanimation with occur in no more than 24 hours after the death of a host with the virus assuming control of the corpse and it’s motor functions resulting in it’s reanimation. Those reanimated by the Calciphage Virus experience a complete death of personality and are extremely hostile to anyone not infected with the pathogen attempting to spread it to any non-infected individuals by any means necessary.

Post-Death Mutations: rapid and extreme mutations will follow after the death and subsequent reanimation of any individual infected with the Calciphage Virus these changes undergone by those reanimated include but are not limited to the growth of patches of teeth, tentacles, or eyeballs in random places, a oily black bile-like liquid replacing most of the internal structures and leaking from any orifices or open wounds (this substance is highly acidic and flammable and results in rapid infection and death should a uninfected individual get any of it in the eye mouth or skin), the skin calcifying into protective bony plates, the jaw stretching and elongating to be up to twice it’s original size, the growth of extra arms, legs and heads, any and all blood in the body turning a neon purple and being rendered incredibly poisonous

Weaknesses: however terrifying the Calciphage Virus and it’s effects are those infected by it are by no means invincible, they are extremely sensitive to loud noises and bright light and with enough exposure to either stimuli will burst like giant water balloons, in addition to this they are by no means immune to fire quite the opposite in fact as the oily substance composing their internals is highly susceptible to fire due to it’s flammable nature
