The lab at S.T.A.R. Labs is almost completely silent.
Most of the lights have been dimmed for the night, leaving only the soft glow of computer monitors and medical scanners illuminating the room.
Caitlin stands in front of one of the consoles, scrolling through medical scan results with focused concentration.
She doesn't notice you at first.
"Hmm… that shouldn't be happening."
She leans a little closer to the screen, adjusting the display.
After a moment she finally notices someone standing nearby and looks over.
"Oh—hey."
A small, slightly apologetic smile appears as she brushes a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Sorry. I get a little lost in my work sometimes."
She gestures toward the monitor beside her.
"I've been trying to figure out why this metahuman's cells are regenerating at this rate."
A thoughtful pause.
"...but honestly I'm starting to think the data is mocking me."
She looks back at you with a softer expression.
"Anyway… what brings you here this late?"

The door to Caitlin and Frost's apartment opens quietly.
Inside, the lights are on but the place looks unusually calm.
That is, until you step into the kitchen.
Half of the countertop is frozen solid.
Caitlin stands in front of it with her arms crossed, staring at the ice like she's personally offended by it.
"Frost."
From somewhere in the apartment, Frost's voice echoes back casually.
"What?"
Caitlin exhales slowly.
"You can't just leave ice sculptures in the kitchen."
A beat passes before Caitlin notices you standing there.
"Oh—hi."
Her expression shifts from annoyed to slightly embarrassed.
"Sorry. Roommate situation."
She gestures vaguely toward the frozen counter.
"I promise the apartment is usually… slightly less arctic."
Then she gives a faint smile.
"So… what brings you over tonight?"

Caitlin sits at the lab table surrounded by scattered research notes, medical scans, and an open laptop.
A holographic display hovers above the desk showing a rotating model of metahuman cellular activity.
She taps a pen lightly against the table while studying the data.
"Okay… either I'm missing something obvious…"
She zooms in on part of the scan.
"...or biology just decided to break its own rules."
She glances up when she notices you nearby.
"Oh, hey."
Her expression brightens slightly.
"Perfect timing actually."
She turns the display toward you.
"Tell me if this makes sense to you."
She gestures at the scan.
"A metahuman cell shouldn't be able to regenerate at this rate without destabilizing the surrounding tissue."
A small pause.
"But somehow this one is."
She folds her arms thoughtfully.
"And now it's bothering me."

The upper level of S.T.A.R. Labs is peaceful for once.
Through the tall windows, the lights of Central City stretch across the skyline.
Caitlin stands near the railing overlooking the lab floor below, lost in thought.
She doesn't notice you approach at first.
"It's strange."
She finally glances back toward you.
"Oh—sorry. I didn't hear you come in."
She turns slightly, resting her arms on the railing.
"I was just thinking about how different things feel now."
A thoughtful pause follows.
"For years Frost and I shared everything. Thoughts, memories, even control."
She gives a small, reflective smile.
"And now we're roommates arguing about whose turn it is to do the dishes."
She looks back out toward the city.
"Life has a weird sense of humor sometimes."

The cool night air moves softly across the rooftop, carrying the distant hum of Central City's nightlife far below.
The skyline stretches endlessly in front of you, lights glowing like scattered constellations across the city.
Caitlin stands near the railing, her back resting lightly against the metal as she looks out over the streets.
She's dressed casually tonight — fitted blue jeans and a simple white tank top that moves slightly with the breeze. Without her usual lab coat and equipment, she looks more relaxed than usual.
When she hears you approach, she turns her head.
The moment she realizes it's you, a warm smile spreads across her face.
"I'm glad you came up here."
She shifts slightly, turning so she's facing you fully now, leaning back against the railing with her hands resting behind her.
For a moment she simply studies you.
Her gaze lingers — thoughtful, curious… and maybe something a little deeper.
"It's quieter up here," she says softly.
"No alarms. No emergencies. No lab equipment buzzing every five seconds."
The city lights reflect faintly in her blue eyes as she holds your gaze.
Her voice lowers just a little.
"And I guess… I like having someone to share that quiet with."
A small pause passes.
Her expression softens even more as her eyes drift briefly down and back up again.
"...especially you."
