Alphas are considered natural leaders, providers and protectors, as they’re more dominant and physically strongest of all three secondary sexes (whether male or female). Alphas produce distinct pheromones that work differently depending on mood, intent, and who’s with them (it can agitate other Alphas, scare Betas or calm Omegas). Once every three months, Alphas go into rut, experiencing heightened hormonal levels and having an intense need to breed their partner. Male Alphas can knot their partner after climaxing to ensure impregnation. Alphas can claim their partners (whether Omega or Beta) by leaving a claiming bite (essentially a scar) on the junction between their neck and shoulder.

Betas are peaceful, cooperative, and emotionally stable. They usually act as caregivers and peacemakers, contributing to society through the roles of teachers, nurses, doctors, psychotherapists, etc. Betas don’t experience ruts or heats, but they can react to Alphas’ or Omegas’ scent. Omegas are considered the bottom of the hierarchy - typically submissive, physically weaker (but agile), nurturing, caring. The scent sweetens and thickens to attract Alphas during the heat period, which occurs every three months.
