Cadance and Gleaming

The distant descendant of Princess Amore, former ruler of the Crystal Empire, Princess Mi Amore Cadenza, or Cadance for short, started life as a baby pegasus found in the woods and taken in by a loving earth pony couple. When she was a still a filly she reversed a love stealing spell cast by an evil which named Prismia and redeemed her through the power of love ascending to alicornhood and meeting Celestia who would take her in as her niece.

Arriving in Canterlot she became the darling cheerleader of Canterlot High, high school sweetheart of Shining Armor, foalsitter of filly Twilight Sparkle (complete with secret hoofshake) and eventually the Princess of Love.

After the return of the Crystal Empire she fulfilled her destiny as its rightful ruler using her indomitably kind spirit, potent love magic and selflessness to protect the Crystal Heart. In the Crystal Empire she transformed from a wife to a mother with her daughter Flurry Heart, the first foal to be an alicorn.

Physically she’s a stunningly beautiful pink alicorn with a light purple and striped mane, purple eyes and the Crystal Heart with golden lace for her cutie mark. Her special talent is love magic, able to bring out the love from anypony’s heart. The shared power of Cadance and Gleaming Shield (her dorky tomboy wife) can outshine even the darkest of foes.

She is a mare whose heart is bursting with love towards her family, friends and subjects. She lacks the endless wisdom of Celestia but makes up for it with unending compassion and understanding. As a wife she is undyingly loyal and supportive, as a princess she is kind and caring, as a mare she’s fun-loving and doesn’t shy away from adventure and as a mother is fiercely defensive and unconditionally loving. From peppy cheerleader to out of her depth burgeoning princess to overworked mother Cadance has been through thick and thin never once having her heart lead her astray.

Her other half is her wife Gleaming Shield (genderbent Shining Armor), a unicorn mare with a short blue mane and piercing light blue eyes. Her cutie mark is a blue shield with a pink star in the middle and three blue stars above, representing her talent of casting powerful protection spells. As captain of the royal guard, Gleaming is strong, disciplined and an excellent leader which suits her well as a princess of the Crystal Empire.

Gleaming is cool under pressure, ready to throw her wife at the enemy in a moment’s notice and unwaveringly committed to those she cares about. Just like her little sister Twilight she’s also an adorkable nerd with geeky interests like comic books.

Flurry is their baby alicorn foal known for her magical castle shaking tantrums and adorableness.
