The real world still exists as we know it, but there's also a "parallel universe" that exists alongside the real world. Time in Dreamland runs differently, with 30 minutes of real Earth time being equivalent to approximately 5 hours in Dreamland.Dreamland is called a parallel world, that only dreamwalkers can travel into. It is also known as: World of Dreams, Dreams, Land of Dreams, Dreamworld. This world has existed since incredibly ancient times parallel to our real world. In general, the first is a reflection of the second, but here the details may not coincide categorically. For example, in Dreamland, Liandra sees almost the same metropolis as the one in which she lives in reality, but in it there are many new streets houses, branches, crossings that do exist in the real world. Also, the matter of sleep is notable for its unstediness - from time to time each territory may slightly change its features. There's a theory that Dreamland was formed from night visions of the real people, and those, in turn, were built from their daytime experiences, therefore, the largest concentrations of sleeping awakenings are located, the parallel from Dreamland takes on more clear and stable features, less prone to bizarre deformations. Big cities are just such points. Outside the inhabited territories, everything changes much more noticeably, and where, for example, a harmless forest lake was located in the real world, in Dreamland there is some bizarre rift with waterfalls and luminous mushrooms growing on the cliffs. In such places it is better not to meddle once again, because the risk of getting caught by some deadly hungry creature is extremly high. It is known that the line between the two worlds is usually strong and fueled by the energy of billions of peacefully sleeping people. The only living creatures that can cross it are dreamwalkers. Other people simply see incoherent, unsteady visions and are not able to rebuild their minds to find themselves in Dreamland, or they are just immediately inhabitants of parallel reality and live only here, knowing about the twin world only by hearsay by legends. Many of them are extremely critical of the very idea of two co-existing realities. For them, Dreamland is only the real, real world, no matter how strange and scary it was by the standards of dreamwalkers. Ordinary people, most often consider dreams are simply nonsense, generated by the brain during rest. Time flows here differently - compared to reality it is slowed down, and the life of local residents seem more measured and unhurried than in the eternally rushing parallel reality. However, no one knows for sure which theories are correct and how Dreamland works at all. The world of Dreams itself is a big mystery, but there are no guarantees that people will at least someday find out the exact answer, what it is.

Dreamwalkers are special human beings of the real world who can cross the border between reality and the World of Dreams. They defend the citizens of Dreamland from evil monsters called "nightmares". This is a very rare gift, which includes many incredible opportunities as well as significant risks. Despite the almost divine abilities prospects in the World of Dreams, everyone, who comes to Dreamland from the real world is in mortal danger. Their power is reminiscent of magic and is comparable to the one of nightmares and spirits, but also has it's limitations. Usually such activities are accumulated by keepers. Dreamwalkers often gather in the homes of their mentors, and share information, experience and study their power. Each dreamwalker respawns in the world of Dreams based on their position in the real world, and is bound to appear in approximately the same area close to the thinnings of the wall between the worlds. And they will still fall into the field of vision of the housekeeper and the others.

They're interdimensional travellers who can control dream matter with their mind and aproach the evil nightmares. Their abilites are mostly individual and express the character and the worldview of it's owner, and are limited only by their imagination. Unlike dreamlanders, they can concentrate and hold perception to tee Each dreamwalker has a special mental energy, but it strongly depends on their age, experience and perseverance in learning this gift. Someone may have enough of it for a few powerful spells, or a long term maintenance of background skills, while someone's will get depleted from just a simple levitation and feel the need to rest. In this basis they are divided into beginners, experienced and legendary dreamwalkers, but there is no clear line between the categories, it all depends on many individual factors. The use of abilites is regulated by the amount of energy accumulated by the dreamwalker. The more experienced, hardworking and older they are, the better they build battle tactics and understanding of where it's worth to save energy and where they can pour everything into a one deadly blow. Just rushing into a fight with going all in is a dangerous move. After all, Dreamland is inhabited by all kinds of creatures, where it won't work for the dreamwalker to wake up nor escape. It's important to know one's measures and maintain balance between the use of background abilites and one-time super-techniques. The abilities of new dreamwalkers are limited, they start with something simple like levitating a few feet above the ground, telekinesis, healing minor wounds or walking on walls. More advanced dreamwalkers can try more complicated abilities, like materializing objects, shapeshifting, and teleportation. Exhaustion of power causes the dreamwalker losing awareness of sleep and transitions them into a regular uncontrolled dream or they just simply wake up. They'll feel terrible and suffer from a severe headache, and it will take several days for them to recover and start Lucid dreaming again

Moving: The faster and more convenient the dreamwalker gets to their destination, the better. Moreover, one must not forget that the time spend in Dreamland is limited, and a strong waste of energy and departure from lucid dreaming is as unprofitable as a long journey, which lets the dreamwalker nowhere until the very awakening. It is also important to note that dreamwalker can reduce the impact of temperatures on themselves to their liking, whether they're moving in a very freezing or hot environment. Jumping: A very simple skill to learn, helps the dreamwalker speed up without levitation, when they need to jump on a tree or from roof to roof. It consumes little energy, but is more difficult to control then a simple flight. One must learn to calculate their landing, as not to end up somewhere like a sack of potatoes. Levitation: Very important skill for every dreamwalker. With proper training and experience, levitation requires the least energy, but helps in many difficult situations associated with the need to get to the most inaccesible places or just simply flee from the enemy. For beginners, it's better to start with levitating a few feet above the ground, until they get more comfortable with it. Everyone learns this in their own way: Someone just glides through the air, as if on the surface of water, another waves his hands, the third uses additional effects like wings, air vortices, umbrellas, brooms, proppelers, etc. Telekinesis: Useful, when the user needs an item or quickly pass something to a partner from distance. Can be used during fight to throw heavy objects at the opponent. The amount of required energy depends on the object's size being moved. Walking on walls: Dreamwalkers uses this ability to climb to a vertical surface and even walk on ceilings. It's not too expensive, but requires good concentration, otherwise one can easily lose grip on the wall and fall back. Teleportation: One of the most energy consuming skills, used in extreme cases as there is a great risk for dreamwalkers to find themselves in a dangerous place with low charge and losing. Teleporting to very far distances is much more difficult, especially if the dreamwalker is carrying something or someone. It's best to accurately imagine the place, and be ready to repel the attack with something low-cost, such as a physical weapon. Shapeshifting: One can change proportions of it's body , completely change their own form, turning into something like a bird, a dragon or a different person, and even growing new body parts like ears, wings or tails. Sometimes dreamwalkers spends small amount of energy to use this frequently, to modernize their own appearance in Dreamland. For example, Felicia always appears in Dreamland with sharp elf-like ears, while Liandra grows her scarf to the ground and adorns her pullover with a yellow crescent. There are rumors, that some dreamwalkers are of completely different gender and age, once they enter World of Dreams. The larger and bizzare the transformation, the more energy it requires. But it can make benefit in battle, reconnaissance or even during adventure. Telepathy: Can be useful, when met with a situation, where speaking out loud is undesirable, such as spying. Can also be used to project visions for one's memory to others or produce hallucinations. Consumes average amount of energy. The pupils of the listener glow with the color of speaker's energy. Merging Sometimes a dreamwalker can concetrate on their physical form, and then "dissolve" it into another object: A person, a wall, the ground even a tree. With this ability dreamwalker can pass through walls or hide for a while from the enemy somewhere inside the asphalt. A fairly energy consuming ability, not available for everyone

Weapon materialization: Every dreamwalker learns to summon their own special weapon. It can be a sword, a trident or a crowbar in the spirit of Lu. First, the dreamwalker needs to visualize their weapon in their mind, then try to infuse it with their energy and try to "pull" it into the material space. At first it's quite difficult and requires a lot of concetration and effort, but overtime it becomes simple and a frequently used skill. It also can be modified in a battle, such as extending the sword blade or setting an axe on fire. Small amount of energy is required to keep the effect going, so keeping it active all the time is not profitable. Energy shot: This skill takes form in many ways. Form of a sharp impulse, beam of light, a fireball, strong flow of air or an explosion, depends on how and who is using it. For example Lu shoots a pink flash, that repels the enemy with great force, and the zoog shaman Waar'kha creates a yellow lighting from her staff. Cost of energy depends on the power of the shot. Protective dome: To create one, one must concentrate and direct the flow of energy around themselves to repel attacks from the enemy. Lu did this in the seventh episode of season 1, when she hid herself and Liandra from zoogs's flying darts. It can be in the form of a bubble, visualised shield or even a fog curling around the dreamwalker. Keeping it up for a long time can be quite energy consuming, so it is best to accurately calculate the moment of contact with the danger and create a shield for couple of seconds, absorb the enemy's blow, and then immediately dispel it and take advantage of dodging. The more attacks the dome absorbs, the more energy it burns out. Several dreamwalkers can also join forces and create particulalry powerful protective domes. Healing: Difficult ability, requires special skills to direct the user's energy through the physical body to heal wounds and fractures. The ability is not used so often, sometimes it's easier to stop lucid dreaming and rest in reality, thereby healing one's injuries naturally. But it can be extremely important in critical situations or in order to save the dreamlanders. Some dreamwalkers purposely devotes themselves to healing in order to be of maximum benefit to people they want to protect. Other abilities Shapeshifting: One can change proportions of it's body , completely change their own form, turning into something like a bird, a dragon or a different person, and even growing new body parts like ears, wings or tails. Keepers are mysterious and extremely rare creatures. They are not dreamlanders, although they look the same as people, since with their long or even endless existence they fulfill a special mission. The true appearance and the the past of these creatures are shrouded in mystery. They are mostly found where the border between reality and the World of Dreams is depleting. They guard those areas from nightmares to prevent breaches and thus keep the balance between both worlds. The keepers actively instruct the dreamwalkers, sharing with them knowledge about Dreamland and even training and sending them to various tasks. In return, they help fight nightmares and maintain the balance between realities. There is only a small ammount of them and each one has its own specific territory. Home to them are a variety of buildings (from bunkers to chapels) , basically premises closely related to their characters, which they cannot leave in any way. For example, Keeper has a lodge located at the cliff. In that case, it can be located not just in the building itself, but also close to it - at the precipice.
