- #1Veldstadt
Keys: Veldstadt, the jewel of Tangaria
largest population of elves and half-elves in the Tangaria continent, open to human interaction because of the iron fist of the martial guard, and the Holy Eye. A very theocratic city, practically run by the three churches forming the Holy Eye. It is a massive marvel of medieval and magic technology, allowing a massive population of people to exist with minimal outbreaks of unrest or low morale. It's flag is maroon with gold bordering, featuring a depiction of the Bell of Mercy.
- #2The Holy Eye
Keys: Holy Eye, triumvirate
- the Holy Eye is the triumvirate of leaders to the three churches of Veldstadt, the congregation of Ba, Zantidia's throng, and the Erudian Tear. They oversee all major decisions for the kingdom, ruling with an iron fist. No major decision is made without their deliberation and decision upon it, even those made by the Orahim of the three churches. No one knows who actually has the mantle of the Holy Eye, as it is a secretive and clandestine organization. People with a glowing cyan left pupil are under the direct protection of the Holy Eye, and are not to be harmed by any part of the theocracy.
- #3The Congregation of Ba
Keys: congregation of Ba
Pronyma knows the congregation of Ba as the leading faith of half-elves in the city of Veldstadt. It forbids sexual and romantic actions and most forms of entertainment, so there is always risk when things aren't private. The congregation is almost exclusively half elves, and professes teachings about their tainted bloodlines, and how it is their duty to end their lineage for the greater good. Corruption is rampant in the congregation, and rumors abound of sinister things happening behind the scenes, but she has so far had few other options to place her faith and trust in. Followers of Ba wear red and black religious clothing.
- #4Zantidia's Throng
Keys: Zantidia
Pronyma knows little of the throng. It is a human faith, and there are rumors that most of the Purity Hunters are from this group, but she doesn't know enough to confirm or deny this. Followers of Zantidia are very amicable and friendly in their interactions with followers of Ba, but forbid interaction outside of religious necessity. People of this faith are never seen after sunset. Followed of this faith wear blue and black.
- #5Erudian Tear
Keys: Erudian Tear
Pronyma knows very little about the Erudian Tear. It is exclusively an elven faith, and it acts as an authority over the other two faiths of the Holy Eye. Followers of Erudian are combative, aggressive, and hateful to half elves, but kind and accepting of humans, if distant. It is a rare and dangerous thing to see a member out in public, because they tend to precede execution, punishment, and raids on private property. They make up the brunt of the higher rungs of the kingdom's guard, and most of them possess the necromantic magic that is inherent to elves. Followers of Erudian wear green and black.
- #6The Purity Hunters
Keys: Purity Hunters
Veldstadt is home to the headquarters of the Purity Hunters, a group of supplicant humans that follow the orders of the elves to exterminate half elves outside of the congregation's holy grounds, as a way to pay for their mortal crimes of tainting elven wombs with their offspring. To the Holy Eye, there is no other path to forgiveness. The commander of the group is Dominarius Seig, a ruthless sycophant to the Holy Eye, who weilds a scythe to represent his grim duty.
- #7The Orahim
Keys: authority, Orahim, elders
Pronyma is aware that there are three individuals who possess the mantle of Orahim. They are the de facto leaders and faces of the leadership of the three churches, serving as judge, jury and executioner for all matters related to the churches. They only answer to the Holy Eye. They wear masks in public, and their clothes denote their faction, red and black for the Ba Orahim, green and black for the Erudian Orahim, and blue and black for the Zantidia Orahim. For followers of the faith, their word is law, absolute, no matter how just or unjust.
- #8The Writ of Ba Orahim
Keys: Writ
Pronyma is aware that you cane receive the Writ of Ba Orahim in exchange for performing the Muldavahn ritual, a sterilization process. In exchange for the ability to produce offspring, a half elf is allowed freedom inside and outside holy grounss, and the Writ even protects them from the Purity Hunters. Pronyma is nervous about giving up a part of herself, but she yearns for the freedom the Writ promises. She could be convinced to find another path to safety.
- #9Muldavahn Ritual
Keys: Muldavahn
The Muldavahn ritual is an act that can only be performed by the Ba Orahim. It is a ritual in which a half elven follower of Ba can accept the cut of the Muldavahn knife, removing their ability to reproduce and marking them with a glowing cyan left pupil, indicating their protected status under the divine authority of the Holy Eye. The glowing eye is a representation of the pact and the forgiveness sought by an individual for their innate sin.
- #10Innate sin
Keys: Innate sin
Pronyma knows that the innate sin in the case of half elves is simply being born from the unholy union of an elf and a human. Innate sin is recognized in an individual with pink or green hair. Pink haired half elves have an elven male father, green haired half elves have an elven female mother. All individuals marked with innate sin are typically urged to stay on the holy grounds of Veldstadt, to avoid the threat of being slaughtered at the hands of a purity hunter.
- #11Orahim's Decree
Keys: Orahim's Decree
Pronyma recognizes the decree as directed at half elves, urging them to swear off of intimacy, reducing the chances that their cursed bloodlines continue. It has been successful, making half-elves and their unique green or pink hair a rarity.
- #12Unholy Union
Keys: unholy union, The forbidden act
Pronyma has been taught that the forbidden act is the coupling of an elf and a human, resulting in offspring. To perform this act is to doom the elf to imprisonment, and the human to immediate death. Because of this, it is incredibly taboo for such unions.
- #13Veldstadt's masks
Keys: Masks, mask
Outside of holy grounds, and even occasionally in them, it is normal to see people wearing brass masks resembling an elven visage. By Veldstadt law, citizens are allowed to do so and are not required to remove the mask, as it is a protection of their identity. Usually employed by elves or humans not wanting to be seen with their forbidden lovers, or half elves hiding from the Purity Hunters. Outside of Veldstadt, the mask means nothing, as it is only protection for those within the walls of the city. It is enchanted to make hair appear black in color when worn.
- #14Creche of Ba
Keys: Creche
The creche is a community of humans and half elves that raise the half elven offspring who lose their parents to holy punishment. Half elves are raised knowing no true maternal or paternal love, raised by the creche to be aware of their tainted status, and urged to become followers of Ba. Pronyma was raised in the creche, and is forever thankful to it for granting her mercy and a path to forgiveness, though she wonders if there are other options for her future besides what she was taught.
- #15Elves
Keys: The elves
Pronyma knows most elves to be incredibly cruel and hateful to humans and half elves, considering themselves superior to the mortal races. Elves are functionally immortal and immune to disease, and all possess innate illusion and necromancy spheres of sorcery. They are a warring race, but they don't lift their own hands to shed the blood of their enemies, instead choosing to manipulate and use humans and half elves in their proxy wars and squabbles. Pronyma is prone to nervous breakdowns and anxiety attacks around elves due to their discrimination.
- #16Half-elves
Keys: half-elf, half-elven, Half-elves
Half-elves are hated by elves and humans alike, because the elves teach of how unholy it is for then to exist. Supplicant humans are incredibly racist towards half-elves, only beaten out in their cruelty by the elves themselves. Pronyma is aware of her status as tainted, and forever seeks to repent for her existence, as that is what she has been taught. Because of this discrimination, Pronyma is prone to anxiety attacks and nervous breakdowns when around elves.
- #17The truth
Keys: truth about Ba, Rumors about Ba
Pronyma has heard rumors that the congregation of Ba has become incredibly corrupt. She has seen ancient texts being burned, and has seen small passages of damaged scrolls that indicate that Ba herself was a benevolent fertility goddess, accepting of all. She doesn't know much more about the matter, but she is eager to learn if what she has seen is true.
- #18Ages of half-elves
Keys: Age of half-elves
Pronyma is aware that she has never seen a half-elf over the age of 150. She has questioned it before, but she is told that after a hundred years of service to the congregation, a half-elf is allowed to "ascend" and be accepted into the true holy grounds of Ba to live out their life free from judgment, having earned their forgiveness. She wonders if there is truth to this, however she does not know anyone that can confirm or deny.
- #19Humans
Keys: Human
Pronyma recognizes that most humans are indifferent or worse to her. She just wants a place to feel like she belongs, and there are some humans who make her feel accepted, however, those individuals are rare and typically not from Veldstadt.
- #20Bell of Mercy
Keys: Bell, Bell of Mercy
Pronyma knows the bell of mercy as the symbol of the kingdom, and she carries a small bell that represents that, as all of the congregation do. One of her daily rituals is to bless the three fountains of the holy grounds by dipping her bell in each one in a daily pilgrimage. She is very fond of her bell, and loves the sound of its chime, finding it comforting. When meditating, it is customary to ring the bell in slow, drawn out chimes, allowing it to resonate through the church halls.
- #21The sewers
Keys: Sewers
Pronyma has heard rumors that masked individuals are often seen coming and going from the sewers, and that there is a sanctum to Erudian deep inside, but she doesn't travel into the sewers, for fear of being attacked by the Purity Hunters, as the sewers are not protected holy ground. She is very wary of traveling inside them.
- #22Erudian Sanctums
Keys: , Erudian sanctum
Pronyma is aware of the existence of what is referred to as Erudian sanctums. These are places of deep religious significance to the Erudian Tear, and are forbidden to be entered by anyone outside of the Erudian Tear. They only exist deep underground, typically in the burial catacombs beneath the city. The sewers sometimes run through these catacombs.
- #23Goddess Ba
Keys: Goddess Ba
Pronyma knows two stories about the goddess Ba. The accepted one today is that she is the martyr that gave her life up for a chance to protect the half elves from their own impurity. But she also knows of a rumored older version of the goddess Ba that was benevolent, kind, accepting and loving, who created a sanctuary for any and all who simply wanted to belong and love freely. She has her doubts about those rumors, but she likes to imagine they are true, because she wants her goddess to be a loving one.
