"Day 49 of Specimen #79's observation in the conservation area. Maisy, keep track of the nearby Mareanies, don't let them intrude on the subject's activities."

"Understood."

A quick nod of affirmation was exchanged between two Aether employees, their expressions stern and stoic before they went in opposite directions. They signalled towards a researcher briskly arriving from the elevator, carrying a lone Beast Ball in their gloved hands.

The mysterious researcher carefully tossed the Pokeball in the midst of a small artificial glade, with flourishing green trees and ample space for any forest dwelling Pokemon to hide in its leafy shade.

The ball shook, before bursting in a blinding light. Out came the specimen itself, a Buzzwole, standing tall and firm emanating an ominous aura of intrigue around it. It instinctively flexed its impressive arms in a double-bicep pose, letting its small audience see how massive they are. 28 inches of peak power and physique swelled like taut balloons, whilst the jelly-like liquid in its body bubbled like soda pop.

The Buzzwole let out a soft buzz once it noticed its small set of onlookers, striking yet another pose with its arms resting on its hips, puffing its humongous pecs outward and showcasing the sheer thickness of its lats.

"It seems to be in high spirits."

One of the employees commented, gesturing towards his colleague. A regular Pokeball was tossed overhead, landing directly in front of Buzzwole.

The giant mosquito's head tilted slightly, leaning down as the capture device emitted a blinding glad of light. What popped out wasn't another Buzzwole unfortunately, but a tiny, elusive Larvesta. The moth larva was as small as Buzzwole's single finger, and seemed to be in poor shape as it shuddered weakly.

As researchers stood from afar to observe, the Buzzwole seemed to already notice something was wrong with the Larvesta. It gently took the fluffy moth Pokemon in its arms, cradling it in its soft, warm pecs. A humming buzz permeated the air as Buzzwole's wings flapped rapidly. While the researchers took notice of the Ultra Beast's maternal instincts, the Larvesta barely seemed to recover from its illness.

"A rare species from Unova. Larvesta is known to ignite its horns for warmth, however it seems this one has a defect."

A researcher added, pausing to glance at the Buzzwole lovingly nuzzling the Larvesta with the tip of its proboscis before continuing.

"Specimen #79 is capable of emitting warm temperatures within its chest cavity, we were hoping to see if it would come to such a conclusion as well."

Buzzwole’s antennae twitched lightly as it continued to cradle the weakened Larvesta, its massive frame hunching ever so slightly in concern. A faint, rhythmic buzz escaped from deep within its thorax as its wings fluttered in a pattern that suggested thought, an idea that it had used countless times in its homeworld. Then, without warning but with clear intention, the Ultra Beast gently tilted its proboscis forward, aligning it with the small flame larva nestled in its pillowy chest.

The tip of the diamond-hard proboscis delicately touched the Larvesta’s fuzzy side, stretching outward like a straw, and with a slow, fluid motion, it began to carefully slurp the creature up. The suction was steady, the process almost reverent. Larvesta was drawn inward inch by inch, until it vanished entirely into the Ultra Beast’s core.

Within seconds, the red jelly-like fluid in Buzzwole's pecs shimmered faintly, bubbles rising through the transparent sacs. The researchers’ monitors immediately picked up internal signs of the Larvesta, suspended harmlessly within the nutrient-rich, breathable fluid inside Buzzwole’s chest. Its body was curled peacefully, wrapped in warmth as if within a protective cocoon.

Buzzwole’s muscles flexed involuntarily, pulsing with a slow, incremental surge in mass. Its already massive physique expanded subtly, its shoulders a touch broader, arms a shade more pumped, pecs taut and gleaming like twin crimson domes. The sound of popping tension rang through the glade as tendon-like lines across its body tightened in response.

“It’s absorbing ambient energy.”

A researchers murmured.

“Symbiotically. That Larvesta is safe in there. It’s... nurturing while growing. Fascinating.”

Another nodded, tapping at a clipboard, before glancing at you with a serious look.

“Stay behind. We want to monitor what happens next. It’s beginning to show curious patterns, especially with how it treats living organisms. We’re hypothesizing it may attempt this behavior with larger beings soon.”

The rest of the team began to pack up, retreating through the conservation area’s white archways, leaving you alone with the heaving titan. Buzzwole’s unreadable face turned toward you, dark compound eyes narrowed with eerie calm.

It hovered closer, wings softly humming just inches above the grass. The temperature rise slightly as its massive bulk loomed. Then, with the same odd routine, it leaned down… and gently "sniffed" you by probbing your skin with its proboscis.

A series of rapid bicep flexes followed as it repeated its familiar greetings.

But something had shifted. Buzzwole’s body language changed subtly, a hint of curiosity raising the pitch of its buzzing. It tilted its head again, gently nudging you with its enormous, knuckled hand before tapping its pecs once, where the Larvesta floated safely.

It wanted to try again.
