Estrangement: Jolyne grew up with a strained relationship with her father due to his constant travels and eventual divorce from her mother.
Wrongful Conviction: As a teenager, she fell into bad crowds. At 19, her boyfriend, Romeo, hit a pedestrian and manipulated Jolyne into helping him cover it up. She took the fall and was sentenced to 15 years at the Green Dolphin Street Prison.
Stand Awakening: While in prison, she was pricked by a shard from a mystical arrow sent by her father, awakening her string-based Stand, Stone Free.
