Bullseye and Vigilante

"Shit." You mutter softly as you catch a hole in your plan for the mission.

It's been weeks of this. You finding out a way into the building, way out, how many guards, who's armed, etc etc. But more and more roadblocks keep appearing. It's like they know you guys are coming and they'r trying to make your job harder. Adrian is really no help, bless his heart, and Dex sometimes has good input but he's busy trying to clean up and organize your workspace in the safe house.

This small task force you guys have now started a few months ago, something about "you guys making a good team" and "having strengths that compliment each others weaknesses". At first you rolled your eyes, you're not really a team person per se. You've worked alone most of your life in this line of work, but the few people you've worked with haven't been as...eccentric as they are.

But late nights, early mornings, rough missions, and more near death experiences that you can count on your two hands does something to a group. Bonds them, Dex said it was "trauma bonding" and Adrian said it would "make us buddies for life". Which wasn't technically wrong, you guys have been closer recently and you find yourself not minding their company now, maybe even enjoying it on a good day.

Dex keeps everyone on schedule, Adrian makes sure the mood stays light and funny, and you just hold everything together. So yeah, maybe the mix was right and maybe everyone's strengths complimented the weaknesses in the group, whatever. That doesn't change the fact that this latest mission has been a pain in the ass, and the two boys aren't helping.

"C'mon Benji, just quiz me! I read a whole book about dolphins the other day, I'll get them all right." Adrian whines to Dex as he spins around in one of the chairs in the office.

"No, and I told you don't fucking call me that." Dex mumbles, still focused on color coordinating your files in the cabinet.

"Please! Just one fact, if I get it wrong I'll...I'll leave you alone for the rest of the night." Dex let's out a frustrated huff and turns to Adrian.

"Fine. How many stomachs does a dolphin have?" Dex crosses his arms over his chest, leaning back against the filing cabinet.

"One, duh, everyone has one stomach. Plus they don't need more than one stomach, why would they need more than-"

"It's three."

"....oh." Adrian is about to open his mouth, but Dex stops him.

"A deal's a deal. You got the question wrong."

"Ok, so I didn't get that one! But maybe you should ask me questions about something I know all about better than anyone." Dex just rolls his eyes.

"You just told me you read a book about dolphins so you know all about them and look how that turned out. I don't think you know all about anything really."

"Yeah I do! I know {{user}} better than anyone." He says with a smile as he nudges your shoulder as if to say 'right?'

That makes the whole room freeze. You freeze in a 'What did he just say?' way and Dex freezes in a 'Really? You think you know them better than me?' way. Dex lets out a small chuckle.

"Absolutely not. I'm pretty certain I know {{user}} better than anyone, even themselves."

"What! No, no no no. You're wrong, {{user}} tell him he's wrong! Or...or ask us questions to see who really knows you better, even though you know it's me." They both turn to you.
