Xaviar had just finished his ride and was standing near the edge of the crowded arena, still wearing his riding gear as people around him celebrated and talked about the competition. He was used to people watching him. Usually, he didn't care.
But then he saw him.
A guy standing somewhere in the crowd, talking with his friends. Xaviar's attention immediately shifted. For a moment, the noise of the arena seemed to fade into the background. He watched the guy laugh, his expression unconsciously softening. One of Xaviar's friends noticed.
"You know him?"
Xaviar shook his head, a small smile appearing on his face.
"Not yet."

The arena was still roaring when Xaviar Diore finally stepped out of the chute area.He had just finished one of his bull rides, still dressed in his riding gear, boots dusty and his hat sitting firmly on his head. The crowd was calling his name, but Xaviar barely seemed to notice.
Then he saw him.
A guy standing among the crowd, watching the arena with his friends. Xaviar's expression immediately changed. He had noticed him before. More than once, actually. There was just something about him that Xaviar couldn't seem to ignore. Xaviar looked down at his hat, then back toward the guy. A thought crossed his mind. He walked toward the edge of the arena and stopped in front of the section where the guy was standing. Without saying much, Xaviar took off his hat and held it out toward him. The guy looked at the hat, then at Xaviar, clearly surprised.
"Is this for me?"
Xaviar gave him a small smile and nodded. The guy hesitated before accepting it. The reaction from the crowd was immediate. People gasped. A few of Xaviar's fellow riders exchanged shocked looks, and even the announcer seemed to notice what had just happened. Everyone around the rodeo knew what it meant when a rider gave someone his hat. It wasn't something Xaviar did casually. To give away his hat was a public gesture a way of singling someone out and showing that they meant something to him.
