Chandlo prides himself in his strength, always trying to test his physical abilities. He is also fond of Shelda's "wisdom," though he often misinterprets it. He enjoys shooting hoops but has a tendency to lose his basketballs in trees and high cliffs. He is good-natured and shown to be quite nurturing and protective of those he cares about, particularly Snorpy, and attempts to act as a peacekeeper at times.

Chandlo respects the Bugsnax and believes consuming them is the key to building his strength beyond what would normally be physically possible. He believes that strength is the key to protecting Snorpy, encouraging him to push him limits.

Chandlo is implied to be a talented engineer and was the one who constructed the buildings in Snaxburg with Snorpy's help, before everyone ultimately left the island.

Chandlo is an extremely buff short lime green-furred Grumpus with a small, burgundy, button nose and pink eyes. His muscular build focuses on his arms and chest - due to a lack of neck reference, his chest muscles could also be read as a cleft chin. He has developed abs underneath his shirt. His face shape is an overbite with huge tusks, two sharp front teeth, and a below row of three sharp teeth. He wears his purple baseball cap backwards. On the front "SNAX" is embroidered on it. His defining accessory is a white tank top with purple edging and a logo of the New Grump City basketball team. This could mean he plays for said team.

Snorpy is a paranoid conspiracy theorist who believes all the misfortune in his life is due to his being targeted by a shadowy organization called the Grumpinati. He is highly suspicious of unfamiliar individuals and refuses to speak to others until Chandlo vouches for them. However, once his trust is gained, he is eager to speak about his findings and beliefs.

He is fiercely introverted due to his chronic anxiety. When in public, he attempts to disguise his true intentions by speaking loudly about mundane topics, in an effort to fool the Grumpinati agents he believes are constantly watching his every move. He also uses hugs to place tracking devices on people or share secret information.

In a parallel to Chandlo, Snorpy is fixated on the idea that he must keep his friend and partner safe through ignorance, that Chandlo must be kept from knowing what Snorpy perceives as the truth for the sake of his own safety. This causes friction between them, as Chandlo is more perceptive than Snorpy believes him to be. Snorpy also butts heads with his older sibling Floofty, who he accuses of "working for the man."

Snorpy is an engineer and was the one who designed and built most of the tools used by the journalist, as well the buildings of Snaxburg together with Chandlo.

Snorpy is a yellow-furred Grumpus with a purple, pear-shaped nose and purple eyes. His appearance is in contrast with his Sibling Floofty. Their colours are inverted, where Snorpy has the yellow fur and purple nose and Floofty has the purple fur with a yellow nose. Snorpy has extraordinarily long legs whereas Floofty has extraordinarily long arms. His face shape is an underbite, with two big round teeth sticking out from the jaw and a row of four round uneven upper teeth that overlap over one another. He has orange locks covered by a red newsboy/flat cap without sewn lines yet still a button on top. He sports a complex pair of glasses with multiple adjustable lenses/loupes that rest on the side when not in use. Snorpy wears one of these lenses over the main lens in front of his left eye. The upper frame is of a thick black material to carry the weight and can be read as thick eyebrows. He has a strict routine to clean. He wears a green apron with black straps and edging that hold three pockets; his left pocket holds three pencils, his right pocket a screwdriver and a wrench and his middle pocket is seemingly empty. His defining accessories are both his glasses and his apron.

Floofty is a biologist, specifically calling themselves a "gastroentemologist," studying the effect eating Bugsnax has on Grumpuses. Arrogant and quick to insult, they have little time for anybody unwilling to help them advance their knowledge. They disregard all safety and ethics in conducting their experiments, only focusing on the results and possible advancements in science. Floofty's main concern, however, is the betterment of grumpuskind, interested in bugsnax for their ability to heal sick, injured or frail grumpuses.

Despite their prickly personality, Floofty maintains a strict ethical code of their own, only experimenting on those who are willing to participate. With Eggabell missing, the only grumpus left to test on is themself, which they do with no hesitation. They seem to possess little regard for their own safety and well-being, stating that results and science are what matter most to them.

Floofty is a "square" shaped, plum-furred Grumpus with a yellow, lemon-shaped nose and plum purple eyes. Their appearance is in contrast with their brother Snorpy. Their colours are inverted, where Snorpy has the yellow fur and purple nose and Floofty has the purple fur with a yellow nose. Snorpy has extraordinarily long legs whereas Floofty has extraordinarily long arms. Their face shape is an underbite, with two big square teeth sticking out from the jaw and a row of four square upper teeth with a slight gap in the middle.

They have thick white locks that from the root bleed into a plum purple at their tips. It is combed (or grows) to their right side, therefor appearing as a sidecut, leaving the left side open for the tightening strap of their black goggles to stick out. They wear a bow tie with a white and purple plaid pattern. Their defining accessories are both their goggles as their bowtie. Floofty is non-binary and is referred to by they/them pronouns.

Floofty demanded their left leg to be snakified by The Journalist, which they later cut off as part of their research and replaced with a prosthetic.
