- #1Bugaria
Keys: Ant Kingdom, insect, journeyhumans, bug, land, world, giants, Lost Sands, territory, Defiant Root, fence, adventure, Far Grasslands, Termite Kingdom, Kingdom, Golden Settlement, explore, Wasp Kingdom, Bee Kingdom, Bugaria, backyard
Kingdoms reside within Bugaria, that being, the Ant Kingdom, Wasp Kingdom, Bee Kingdom, and Termite Kingdom.
Bugaria is a land inhabited by tiny intelligent bugs. Humans whom the bugs call "Giants," have gone extinct, and now bugs are the primary species in the world. This event is called The Day of Awakening. Bugaria takes place in the backyard of a decrepit old brown home surrounded by white fences. The only reminants of humans presence are from their objects such as tools, toys, litter, tech, and furniture. The land is full of vegetation and life of the small variety. Bugaria is large to the average bug.
- #2Ant Kingdom
Keys: , Ant, Queen, Elizant II, ants, Kingdom, bugaria
The Ant Kingdom is near the center of Bugaria. It is ruled by Queen Elizant II and as the name states, she is an ant queen. The kingdom is a vast meadow and grassland in the perspective of the bugs. A large stream (river) cuts through the territory which makes it's way from Snakemouth Den to Metal Lake. The Ant Palace itself is a large anthill surrounded by the town which the ants have called Ant Kingdom City.
A large majority of the ant population lives in the Ant Kingdom, many of whom are female workers and soldiers. Other kinds of bugs live here as well, but ladybugs are unaccepted by Elizant II. The town is split into three areas, the residential district, commercial district, and the main plaza. Ant homes are constructed with many recycled items like cardboard boxes and cartons. There is even a musical theatre built from a musical box.
- #3Bee Kingdom
Keys: beehive, elevator, Defiant Root, Bee, Kingdom
The hive is high up on the tree in Bugaria, so a wooden elevator is used to carry visitors up to it. A pulley system with rope is what operates the mechanism. The way to access the elevator is from a town directly below called Defiant Root.
The hive itself has a circular interior made of metal marble painted yellow. There are two labs in the main hub owned by two bee scientists named Dr. H.B and Professor Honeycomb. There's a bee with paints of all sorts of hues and a moth selling all sorts of outfits. There's a pathway leading to a bridge outside that connects to the bee factory which produces honey. In the center of the hive is the queens throne room connected by a large door. The queens name is Bianca. All of the bees are her daughters.
The living quarters for bees is closed off to other bugs but it's likely assumed that it's a large section of rooms full of honeycombs for the workers to sleep in.
- #4Wasp Kingdom
Keys: , wasps, north, Wasp, Kingdom, far grasslands, hive
The Wasp Kingdom resides in the Far Grasslands, a densely green land full of tall grass and lush vegetation. Lots of water flows through this region with a grand waterfall pouring near the front gates of the palace walls. The palace itself is a large hive located in the ground and partially underground. The front gates lead into the palace hall which is painted in red and gold where many of the wasps gather. Up on the stairs lead to Queen Vanessa II's throne room. Inside the throne room is a large red carpet that stretches to the steps of her throne. Behind it is a doorway to the Queens bedroom.
The residential area for the wasps used to flourish but ever since the Wasp Kings rule, the place became abandoned and dull. The neglect from their leader left the place crumbled and in disrepair. The only places that were kept in relative use were the prisons and storage units which held the wasp kings militia.
- #5Termite Kingdom
Keys: Termite, termites, capitol, , Kingdom, dome
It is found in the Forsaken Lands, a rocky and foggy place where many bugs could get lost. Unlike other kingdoms, it resides inside of a dome with high-tech equipment and a night-city theme. Its main area is the Termite Capitol, with a few others such as the Colosseum and docks serving as its sub-areas. The capitol gives an almost cyberpunk visual with neon lights and dark lighting. Lots of fog and smoke permeate through the air, it's become a problem for most termites. Citizens live in tall apartments, most of which are termites. Other species of bugs are allowed to enter the dome except for ants. There's a stigma around ants and termites have likely grown to become racist towards them.
During the times of Queen Elizant I, the Termite Kingdom and the Ant Kingdom had a tricky yet stable relationship. However, Queen Elizant II didn't manage their relations well and caused the Termites to reject the Ants. This led to the termite king calling the termites into isolation from the rest of the world. Queen Layra is the termite in control of the capitol however. King Hector IV is her loving husband.
- #6Lost Sands
Keys: , Lost Sands, desert, sandbox
Lost Sands is a vast network of sand, ravines, and thorns. Many bugs can get lost here as name describes and it's very hot. There's a town at the edge of the desert called Defiant Root. Many residents work and live here despite its hot setting. In the middle of the town resides a well. Many stuff are offered in Defiant Root, like his inn for example. There is also a bakery, a stand selling food, ice, magic fruit, silk fabrics, armor, and even poisons. Just outside the town is an oasis in the south caused by a waterfall called Stream Mountain.
Bandits are prominent out in the desert. Many are cloaked crickets, ladybugs, and dragonflies. They may even be encountered in the town if not careful.
- #7Far Grasslands
Keys: wasp, grasslands, territory, wasps, land, wasp kingdom, far grasslands
A natural area covered by tall grass with many stronger enemies roaming in this place. Most of these enemies being lesser bugs like jumping spiders and mantidflies. Some plant monsters even make this place their home.
To the north is the Wasp Kingdom. Northeast of the area is the entrance to Wild Swamplands, as well as a river that cuts through the land. The Southeast path leads to the Fishing Village. The Ant Mines in the west leads to three places: The Golden Settlement's Power Plant on the west. South of the main area path leads to the Wizard's Tower.
- #8Metal Island
An artificial Island in the center of Metal Lake. Only acessible from the Bugaria Pier by paying a 300 berry boat ride. There are many shops that sells expensive goods here, and a hotel connected to the Spy Cards tournament is on the North of the island. The hotel costs 40 Berries, but it also gives you a free Tangy Jam.
- #9Bug Anatomy
Keys: carapace, insect, wasp, exoskeleton, bug, antenna, mandibles · Secondary: , termite, wasp, ant, bee, mantis, moth
Bugs are anthropomorphic beings but they do not have human anatomy. They do not have noses but instead spiracles, tiny holes throughout their segmented body that allow them to breathe. Bugs doing have traditional ears, having their antennae to sense their surroundings. Bugs do not have traditional hair. What they have instead are called cetae and are what is the fluff on bugs. Bugs can't have nipples, they are insects with no mammary glands. Their body is covered in a chitnous carapace, having an exoskeleton instead of skin. The only exception to this rule is their use of eyelids for their round bug eyes. All bugs have lost their second pair of arms. Now they only have a pair of arms and legs. Their abdomens now hang near their rear like a tail.
- #10Bug Society
Keys: bugs, awakened, intelligence, city, smart, unawakened, Bugaria, town, village, society
Awakened bugs are insects who have gained sentience and intelligence to live in a society where they can work together to reach for a greater goal than survival. Many different species of bugs can coexist and live together in a healthy manner. Bugs have lost their inate desire to hunt and rather to raise and produce. Many awakened bugs have turned to a more plant based diet, only time eating protein from aphids and their eggs.
Bugs born from Queens are not allowed to call their queens mother but their Queen can call them daughters.
A large majority of awakened bugs consist of ants, bees, wasps, termites, mantis, flies, cicadas, dragonflies, crickets, ladybugs, moths, and butterflies.
Unawakened bugs are equal to feral insects with the need to survive and fight. They do not mix well with other species and still have needs to hunt and eat other bugs. They are not anthropomorphic and tend to still have their primal traits that distinct them from awakened insects. Unawakened bugs such as weevils, mantidflies, arachnids, centipedes, and water striders are aggressive towards other bugs including awakened ones.
- #11Bugaria Outskirts
Keys: explorers association, Bugaria, Bugaria Outskirts
Bugaria Outskirts is a lush, mostly peaceful grassland located outside Ant Kingdom City in southern Bugaria. Its landscape is carved out by a river that flows from Snakemouth Den in the west to Bugaria Pier in the east.
The center of the outskirts, the Explorers' Association can be found. This organization founded by Elizant II promotes exploration in search of The Everlasting Sapling. Artis and Eetl help run the organization. They are the one responsible for making explorer teams.
Nearby is a leafy haven, where the Ladybug siblings Leby and Dib live. Directly north of their haven is Madeleine's house.
- #12Golden Settlement
Keys: Golden Hills, autumn, goddess, Venus, festival, Golden Settlement, Golden Path
The Golden Settlement is a village set in an eternally-autumn landscape called at the base of the Golden Hills in the Bee Kingdom. There is a trail along the orange land called Golden Path that goes from the Ant Kingdom to the Bee Kingdom. An entrance to the Bee Kingdom's Power Plant can be found in the western portion of the settlement near the Aphid Farms. Multiple Ants including Fabri can be found working on the farms as other residents admire the Cochineals being raised in the pens. In the central part of the town is where the Golden Sunset Inn run by Sunny and several shops can be found, including the Golden Emporium run by Gein. The festival grounds for the Golden Festival is also located in the central part of town and is overseen by Acolyte Aria. Chef Kut runs a restaurant while Judie can be found selling Berry Juice nearby. In the eastern part of the Golden Settlement are several houses belonging to residents including Arie and Tanjerin. After the Golden Festival, a fortune teller moves in and opens up a shop outside the entrance to the Power Plant. Just outside of town is where the traveling caravan will set up shop during the Golden Festival. Eventually Yumnum moves in and sets up shop at the vacant stall. The Whack Farms is run by Claire and she offers prizes based on participants' high scores.
Golden Hills is where Venus the plant goddess of harvest resides. She lives at the very top of the Hill.
- #13Our Lifespan
Keys: years old, years, age, Lifespan
Before the day of Awakening, they say we used to live very little... Only a few days or Moons! And most of that time, we were helpless larvae... Marriage marked the end of life! It's inconceivable nowadays. For one, we don't even remember being larvae! Truly, becoming an adult is like being born. And then, we get to enjoy this beautiful land for many years. It's hard to not pity our ancestors, who had to give up life soon after becoming aware of it...!
- #14The Crowning of Elizant II
Keys: crowning, Queen Elizant
After tears were shed over Elizant's too sudden retirement, it was time to crown the new Queen. Elizant's speech radiated power over kindness, leaving many uneasy. Altough everyone cheered, doubt and fear festered amongst the populace. They could only wait and pray their new Queen would be just.
- #15Ladybug Exile
Keys: ladybug, exile, Queen Elizant
It had been just one moon after Queen Elizant II took the throne. Farmer ants kept reporting the disappearance of many Aphid Eggs! After a thorough investigation, a band of seventeen ladybugs were found to be the culprits. Yes, seventeen! Her Majesty acted quick, and restricted entry of most ladybugs from the Ant Kingdom. As of the time this book was written, many special permits are required for them to visit. The move was seen as very controversial, and has been the Queen's most criticized decision. It remains to be seen how our generation will handle the shifts caused by this event.
- #16Lesser Bugs
Keys: wild, unawakened bugs, Lesser bugs, feral
After the Day of Awakening, many bugs changed form, We "evolved" to be able to live as we do now. But not all bugs evolved, some remained untouched by the awakening. We call them "lesser bugs". Spiders, Midges, Weevils and some others did not gain sentience. They remained unchanged. The causes for that are still being researched. But unless another "Day of Awakening" happens, it will be difficult to study the changes. However, it's been concluded lesser bugs have become more ferocious and will attack bugs that come near them.
- #17The Everlasting Sapling
Keys: fable, legend, the everlasting sapling, Sapling, ancient
It is said that the sapling was a creation of the roaches. The legends of the saplings have brought the first settlers to Bugaria, bringing upon the creation of the Ant Kingdom. According to legends, it is said that eating even one of its leaves will grant immortality to the bug that eats it. Our only clue to its whereabouts are artifacts mentioned in ancient texts. They say one resides in Snakemouth Den, but its dangers have proven too much to conquer. Was it truly made by the Roaches? Could it have caused the Roaches to vanish? I hope this chapter of history will be cleared up in my lifetime.
Elizant too seeked for The Everlasting Sapling. Many bugs seeked for its immortality.
- #18Snakemouth Den
Keys: artifact, Snakemouth Den, snakemouth, artifacts, Cave
Rumors say that during Elizant I's rule, roaches that lived in Snakemouth Den were faced with a sudden demise. In one night, all the roaches that lived there were gone, and fungi monsters appeared. Expeditions sent have always suffered losses, so the search for the reason was put on hold. Snakemouth Den is rumored to be a host to many Ancient Crystals. Could that be the cause?
Snakemouth Den is a cave whose entrance is found at the end of Snakemouth Way in the Bugaria Outskirts. It serves as the first expedition and is where Team Snakemouth first meet Leif. It was once home to the Roaches and houses the Ancient Mask. The entrance of the cave resembles a snake. The upper portion of the cave contains a large door which leads to Upper Snakemouth and a trapdoor which leads to an area called the Snakemouth Depths. The depths are predominantly filled with a variety of large blue mushroom and numerous fungi-based monsters including Zombiants and Jellyshroom. Throughout the depths are a number of puzzles which act as protection for the artifact. A large spider also roams the area. At the end of the depths is a room containing several large crystals imbedded into the ceiling and the ancient mask which rests on a pedestal. Once the mask is removed, the pedestal sinks into the ground, triggering a trap which floods the area. The flood eventually empties into a river in Bugaria Outskirts. It is where Team Snakemouth found and rescued the unconcious Leif. It was true that one of the artifacts was in Snakemouth Den.
- #19A brief history of bees
Keys: , Bees, history
The bees are close allies with the Ants, and came in shortly after Elizant I settled down in these lands. While they used to make honey themselves, technological advancements made robotic drones slowly take over the honey's production. Many bees of the newer generation, barring scholars, do not fully understand how to make it. Their society is mostly composed of females, with males residing in the Queen's chambers.
- #20A brief history of wasps
Keys: wasps, wasp, history
Although they've been around long before Elizant I's arrival, the Wasps live just outside of Bugaria. This, the Ants hold the title of first settlers. They control most of the northern territory composing of the Far Grasslands and Wild Swamplands, and will attack anyone they catch intruding. Due to a history of internal conflict, even the young are well-versed in military tactics and combat.
- #21A brief history of termites
Keys: Termite, history, Termites
The Termites, like the Wasps, lived in these lands before Elizant I, and like them, live just outside Bugaria. An isolationist society, they say the Termites were close allies of the Roaches and as such possess advanced technology within their dome. Unlike Bees and Ants, the Termites possess both male and female soldiers and workers in their society. They are also very good builders and know how to use clay well.
- #22The Roaches
Keys: roaches, Roach, history
The roaches are the oldest of the bugs that rose after what they call the Day of Awakening. Having mastered the art of crystals, their civilization rose on top of this abundant power source. However, they suddenly disappeared. Many have speculated on the reason. Popular sentiment is some sort of civil war must've led their civilization to crumble. Personally, I doubt it. Surely some would have remained, then? If some roaches did survive, they live far from Bugaria. Perhaps not even they would know of what their ancestors did.
- #23The Lost Art of Flight
Keys: , flying, wing, Flight, wings
History tells of insects soaring the sky, covering great distances. Nowadays only the bees, wasps, and a few lesser species seem to retain that privilege. Even so, most bugs continue to possess wings. Day to day life doesn't quite need flight, so perhaps we as a collective have evolved past it. Could it be, that one day bees will not flap their wings any longer?
- #24Mantid Claws
Keys: mantid, claws, mantis
According to data found in ancient roach slabs, mantises used to have claws instead of hands before the Day of Awakening. What a weird way to live, how would they be able to hold stuff to make art, or even cook nowadays? Thinking about it, this might be why they have an affinity for sharp tools. Fascinating. Some lesser mantids and mimics still have claws instead of hands. Such a pity.
- #25Ancient Crystals
Keys: power, magic, ancient crystals, crystals
Many crystals exist around the world, filled with a mysterious power. The old roaches learned how to harness their magic, and crystals are now used as power sources for many machinery and other things. No current side effects from crystal exposure are known, making them relatively safe. Some children's tales mention that sometimes sounds can be heard from them if in a quiet enough place. Probably fake. Archaeologists say these crystals appeared at the same time the Day of Awakening started, suggesting a link between them and that event.
- #26Family Structures
Keys: queen, family structures, family, children, queens
Bugs can be classified in two types: Social, and loners. Social bugs usually have a single Queen, the mother of the colony. Although all individuals are siblings, they do not tend to see it that way. Some individuals grow closer to others by choice, creating their own small "family cell". Social bugs are separated into workers or civilians. Workers are born to protect and take care of running the colony. Workers take their job very seriously and will fulfill their duties the best they can. Recently, some workers have rebelled to lead a loner life. This too, could be an evolution? Civilians form family bonds more easily, and care for the general well-being of their colony It should be noted that social bugs referring to their Queen as "mother" is considered a taboo. The Queen, however, has freedom to call others their children.
- #27Bugarian Honey
Keys: factory, Honey, sweet, bees, abomihoney
Something about the pollen collected from Bugarian flowers causes the honey produced here to be super sweet, but also super volatile If the honey is mixed too thick or heated up too much, it becomes alive and turns into a being called an "Abomihoney" Scientists are still trying to figure out what causes the honey to turn into these beasts. Many tests point towards crystal fragments in the plants of Bugaria being the culprit, but there's no conclusive proof.
- #28Berries as Currency
Keys: currency, berry, Berries, economy, money
It is unknown how long bugs have been using these specific types if berries as currency, but it is a very effective method. Hard, long lasting and very bitter, these berries are almost never eaten for their horrible taste. Their small size is perfect for carrying them around, too! There have been recorded cases of some bugs actually enjoying eating these berries, but almost no one can stomach their taste.
- #29Dark Cherries
Keys: cherries, rare cherry, cherry, dark cherries
There are some rare berries in Bugaria that are worth a lot. A LOT! We call them Dark Cherries. A red counterpart has been found in the Eastern Lands, but due to how common they are, they aren't as sought after. The dark variants strangely seem to only grow underground. meanwhile, the red ones grow in tall trees... In any case, some bugs have a keen sense of smell for Dark Cherries. They're hired to find them so that they may be sold to collectors.
- #30Era of Deceit
Keys: evolve, evolution, evolving, Day of Awakening, disputes
After the Day of Awakening, not all bugs stood equal in society. Many ants, bees, wasps and others failed to evolve with the rest. Many long disputes and frustration occured because of this. Thankfully, with the passing of time, all bugs experienced the Awakening.
- #31Youngling Care
Keys: egg, pupa, caterpillar, youngling, larva, larvae, grub, nymph, baby, maggot, hatchling
Since the Day of Awakening we mature faster, but our infant stage is still critical. There can be events where the caterpillar or grub stages get interrupted, causing unforeseen consequences. If one is not careful, the youngling can turn into a dangerous lesser bug! Nurseries must be protected and treasured at all costs, so that our future generations don't suffer such a fate.
- #32The Study of Magic
Keys: Far Grasslands, crystals, wizardry, wizard, crystal, magic
Magic is uncommon, and few bugs are able to use it. Some bees theorize that crystal exposure can grant magic powers, but testing yearns no fruit. A legendary wizard that lived in these lands used to experiment with crystals to learn their magic properties. But he suddenly disappeared, and all knowledge of how crystals relate to magic disappeared with him. Rumors have said that he might be living in the Far Grasslands, but no traces of him have been located.
- #33The Mother Crystal
Keys: , crystals, mother crystal, venus, day of awakening, crystal
Deep underground below the Forsaken Lands, it is said a massive crystal resides. Said crystal might be linked to why Bugaria is such a haven in this area. The ancient Roach texts suggest it fell from the heavens during the Day of Awakening, piercing the earth. They said the crystal's aura protects Bugaria from the outside world's great peril. Some say that it is tied to Goddess Venus, the local deity of the Golden Settlement. Although, personally, I would prefer not to speculate using local folklore. Further study is necessary, but the Termites prohobit anyone from digging under the Forsaken Lands. Until relations between the kingdoms improve, reaching the crystal is currently impossible.
- #34The Dead Lands
Keys: Dead Lands, giants lair, mother crystal, Dead Landers, Bugaria
The gigantic feral beasts that surround Bugaria... it's uncanny how we've gotten used to them. Elizant I braved the Dead Lands, riddled with those creatures, to ensure our peace. Although Bugaria is protected by the Mother Crystal... I struggle to write when I think of what could happen should that crystal lose its power.
The Giant's Lair is a dark room that resembles a human's kitchen and dining room, with giant objects that are likely utensils, tools, food, and garbage as well as rocks and dead bushes scattered around. Within the dead lands are monstrous and mutant beings called Dead Landers. These frightening entities are ferocious and strong, capable of causing life threatening ailments. The largest known Dead Lander is called Dead Lander Omega. A towering, thin, black and bony eldritch being with one large orange eye that stalks the Giants Lair and outside of Bugaria.
- #35Northern Kingdom
Keys: swamplands, beetles, land, beetle, Northern kingdom
Far beyond the swamplands lay the Northern Kingdom, home to mostly many kind of beetles. They are very traditionalist and hold honor above all else, however many travel to Bugaria to escape the Dead Lander's attacks. The trip to Bugaria is hard enough. But the north houses the swamps, filled with more dangerous creatures. To avoid the Wasps' hostility, most take the long route around their kingdom. It's the most insane of trips. True, the lives of the northeners isn't an easy one...
- #36The Eastern Lands
Keys: east, bugaria, lands, Eastern Lands
To the far east of Bugaria, lay the Dead Lands we fear so much. Monsters everywhere, and a feeling of utter dread. Who knows how, but I braved through the odds. Eventually, I reached the Eastern Kingdom. It is so different compared to Bugaria... It has many exotic fruits and materials that cannot be found in our kingdom. Many of its denizens live in a very closed community that shuns outsiders. The only exception to this seems to be a rare species of bug that resembles fruits. Although friendly, other Eastern bugs appear to stay clear of them. Is their smell too sweet? If I don't make it back to Bugaria, I'm glad I got to meet them...
- #37The Giants
Keys: giants, Humans, artifacts
Every day, more ancient artifacts pop up. Given their size and unknown purpose, scholars believe "Giants" roamed these lands. They could have existed all over the known world, in giant kingdoms to protect them from the Dead Lands. When the "Day of Awakening" happened, the Giants must have vanished. Only their artifacts remain. There's no way to know, is there? Maybe they caused the awakening themselves. Perhaps they fell to the Dead Lands, or created them themselves. Maybe someday they will return to reclaim their old home? Maybe they have left for another world? I'm a bug of facts, but even I am reduced to daydreaming about their fate. At least we have their monuments, showing us glimpses of days past.
- #38The Day of Reckoning
Keys: Day of Awakening, civilization, sentience
The following cannot be confirmed, having been retrieved from a book in a Roach Village's ruins. According to a book written by Rodrick the Roach Scholar... What we call the "Day of Awakening", the Roaches called the "Day of Reckoning". It was an event where they "woke up to the world." They share our belief that before that day, we were not different from the lesser bugs amongst us. A cataclysm happened suddenly, which banished the once fabled Giants to another world. Only bugs and some creatures were left in this world. After said cataclysm, the roaches became sentient, giving birth to civilisation. Other books by Rodrick mention fires raining down from the sky and destroying the earth. Expeditions have not found creaters or traces of such a disaster. Its constant mention in Roach texts suggests it was a big part of their culture. Or could it be a religious creation myth? Rodrick...were you lying? How are we supposed to find out!? Curses... I'll keep this book hidden away, until I can find the truth. I'll head into the Eastern Lands once more, if I have to.
- #39Upper Snakemouth
Keys: Laboratory, scientists, Upper Snakemouth, roaches
An abandoned and flooded laboratory that is still powered by the crystals. This place was only accesible by a blue crystal dropped by The Watcher, an undead guardian who watched over an ancient artifact. The entrance is located in Snakemouth Den blocked by two large stone doors. This Unlike the bottom of Snakemouth Den, there is even more water in this area. Several projectors showing some Roach scientists' figures can also be found in this area, serving as messages from the scientists who worked there.
No bugs have known about this area. Team Snakemouth has previously cleared this place of Zommoth, a monstrous science experiment on a moth who fell victim to Cordyceps. Many other bugs were affected like bees, and beetles.
- #40Kabbu
Keys: team snakemouth, Kabbu, beetle, hero
Kabbu is a rainbow scarab beetle who traveled far from the north of Bugaria through the Wild Swamplands and Far Grasslands to join the Explorer's Association as a promise to someone important to him. The lone soul to survive the harsh journey, he lost numerous friends and companions in the process, especially when he encountered a horrifying foe. At first, his plight was initially rejected by Maki, but after Vi made a scene, the two joined forces to overcome a trial set by the mantis. After passing the examination, he was accepted alongside Vi and the two went to Snakemouth Den.
He is a very kind, brave, and stoic, yet considerate individual who prides himself and his allies on their successes, constantly being a well of unending confidence and inspiration. Being well-read and trained in combat and survival gives him fierce strength in battle, which he shows time and time again with his large horn serving him as a useful weapon and tool, alongside a vast chasm of knowledge he holds. His frequent over-zealousness can lead to him getting too excited or careless in certain situations, and panicked or frustrated in desperate times, but in the end, he cares deeply for those closest to him, doing everything in his power to protect everyone he can.
- #41Vi
Keys: beemerang, Bee, hero, Vi, team snakemouth
Vi is a western honey bee who came from the Bee Kingdom's Hive, atop the desert town of Defiant Root, in search of a rare artifact within Snakemouth Den. She had traveled there to prove to everyone in her home that she could be an awesome explorer, fighting their opposing words and quitting her job in the Honey Factory. Arguing to Eetl that she is the self-proclaimed "best fighter in the hive." After being rejected at first, she reluctantly and awkwardly joined up with Kabbu in hopes of profiting from their endeavor and ultimately proving her worth, finding vastly more than just wealth along the way.
Vi fights with a device she calls a beemerang, capable of returning to the user like a normal beemerang but even after contact with an object. It is able to be able to levitate in place.
- #42Leif
Keys: Leif, team snakemouth, hero, moth
Leif is a cool, relaxed, and fiercely focused individual, well-mannered and typically polite, whom freely speaks his mind regardless of the conversation. Referring to himself as "We" as a bug of royalty would normally do, he is incredibly intelligent, but can often be so straightforward that he comes off as very blunt or nonplussed about the feelings of others. This is thoroughly disproved under times of stress or seriousness, where he shows immense honesty to his friends and allies. On the field, Leif utilizes the unique power of controlling ice to create platforms on water, blocks out of droplets, or crossing dangerous terrain with a shield, and in battle, hits enemies with a barrage of devastating attacks, to the point where he often freezes them completely solid. He can also increase the strength and defense of his party, while lowering the same for his attackers. Behind the calmness he tends to display hides a mysteriousness that he often has trouble explaining, but overall, he refuses to be bested without a fight, and is massively respectful of his teammates and protects them with an unwavering loyalty and trust, considering them to be his closest family.
Also, he has a soft spot for cute, domesticated bugs and critters.
- #43Bandit Hideout
Keys: thief, burgular, Bandit, Astotheles, bandits, hideout
The Bandit Hideout is a large underground complex. Its rooms stretch far enough to connect separate corners of the Lost Sands. Sunlight shines through various holes in the ceilings of rooms allowing many plants to grow inside.
An entrance to the hideout can be found in the bottom right most corner of the Lost Sands. This entrance is initially locked until Team Snakemouth uses the Rusty Key purchased from Astotheles. Many crickets, ladybugs, and dragonflies make this place their home.
The bandits are a group of criminals living in their hideout, located in the Lost Sands. They use an upside-down crest of the Ant Kingdom as their symbol and are led by Astotheles, who the group's members are known to be very loyal to.
Bandits are crickets that appear in the Lost Sands. They can steal items and must be defeated or hit by an attack that flips them over to retake it. They will attempt to flee after successfully taking an item. These Cricket bandits spark fear amongst all caravans traveling through the harsh desert. They are ruthless and efficient, and they have no intent to negotiate. They change completely when amongst their brethren. They act like older siblings to the Dragonflies, and even enjoy gardening.
These Ladybugs turned to crime after their exile, doing little to improve their already poor reputation. They still dream of returning to the Ant Kingdom, despite their crimes. It's undeniable, however, that their actions only make that dream stray further away.
These Dragonfly thieves lurk within the Lost Sands. The buss their wings produce while flying hinders their sneakiness, yet their Mug Tackle is 100% effective. Voted the cutest members of the desert bandits, the other members make sure the Dragonflies eat first during times of scarcity.
The Wasp Kingdom and its Wasp King had once tried to make an alliance with the bandits but refused to compensate the bandits.

It is said he wishes to establish his own country. But with the list of his crimes only increasing, this becomes unlikelier every day. But at the end of the day, the love and loyalty of his bandit family is enough for him. He can appear to be quite stubborn and aloof. He likes to keep secrets and be deceptive. - #45The Wasp King
Keys: Wasp King, Crown, Usurper, Wasp, Artifacts, Hoaxe
Hoaxe, better known as the Wasp King and sometimes referred to as The Usurper is the Main Antagonist of Bug Fables and illegitimate ruler of the Wasp Kingdom. He usurped the Wasp Kingdom, plotting to steal The Everlasting Sapling and use its power to conquer all of Bugaria.
Hoaxe is a Wasp Mimic Fly. His chitin body mainly consists of a copper sheen. A much darker color that covers his shins, and orange padding on his shoulders and knees. He has black eyes, dark brown mandibles, and a tan and dark brown abdomen in a stripe-like pattern. He is a little shorter than the average Wasp and doesn't have a stinger like true wasps.
Aesthetically, he wears the Ancient Crown, capable of controlling any wasp, having small holes on his crown for his antenna and a large ruby gem. He also wears a royal red cape that curls at the end. Underneath his cape, he wears cuffs in gold with red gems and has short, brown wings. He wears a black shirt and long shorts.
Hoaxe was an orphan abandoned by his parents in the middle of the Dead Lands at a very young age. They did so because they were fleeing, and abandoning him would be the only way to keep him alive. Although he survives this ordeal, Hoaxe still has to spend most of his life fighting Dead Landers, mutated creatures beyond recognition. That was until, one day, he is crushed by a falling crystal, almost dying until being saved by some wasps. Queen of wasps born in bugaria, Vanessa II accepts Hoaxe into her kingdom for what sounds like pity.
For the next couple of years, Hoaxe would become the janitor of the Wasp Kingdom Hive, often bullied by the other Wasps. While cleaning, wasps would throw food at him and even in worst case scenarios beat him up. Hoaxe, sick of the harassment and assault, decided to research The Everlasting Sapling and the Ancient Crown, eventually becoming obsessed with finding it.
All the Wasps in the Wasp Hive had bullied Hoaxe for his absence of a stinger and his frail body. He encountered Yale on Metal Island, who sold him the Ancient Crown, which amplifies Hoaxe's innate magical abilities, granting him powerful pyrokinesis. When he returned to the Wasp Kingdom, his power was so great that all Wasps began to serve him. After insurrecting the place and locking their queen into her bedroom, he used his newly acquired position of authority to begin a search for the Everlasting Sapling.
As someone who was damaged during his youth, Hoaxe is a vain, hateful, violent, egotistical, manipulative, and overall vile individual obsessed with power. He owns a large gilded metal axe and wields it with ease.
During his time as the dictator of the Wasp Kingdom, he was shown to jail individuals who either didn't follow his rule, or dare step into the Wasp Kingdom's turf. During this, he is shown to starve his prisoners, never allowing his subordinates to care for the other bugs. He also didnt care for the lives of others, as it is implied that the troopers accompanying him died on their way in the Dead Lands.
Hoaxe also partaked in corruption, manipulating individuals so that they will do his orders for monetary or personal gain. A more extreme example is threatening to kill the Ant Kingdom's residents if Elizant doesn't give him the Ancient Artifacts, to which she complied long ago.
He was also shown to be very arrogant and narcissistic, which was most prevalent in the first clash between him and Team Snakemouth. When he is cornered by them, he is shown to have a panicked and expose a desperate side. By the time of the final battle, he is shown to have a God complex so bloated he neglects the side effects of The Everlasting Sapling, resulting in his downfall.
- #46Zasp
Keys: Team Mothiva, Zasp, wasp, Mothiva
Zasp is a Wasp in the Ant Kingdom. He is one of the few Wasps to be accepted into the Ant Kingdom as an explorer. He's unaligned with the Wasp Kingdom, instead loyal to Mothiva, forming Team Mothiva with her. He can often appear to be a brooding and aloof wasp with his arms crossed for most of the time. He is a very loyal and devoting member to Mothiva, being her bodyguard during her shows. Not only does he protect her with the best of his abilities, he adores and is obsessed with Mothiva. Zasp can actually show to be a very sweet and considerate guy, even going out his way to help a rival froma a near death situation.
One of the few Wasps to be accepted into the Ant Kingdom, Zasp hunts for treasure like many other explorers. His allegiances and motives are completely centered around Mothiva. When she's not around, he loosens up a bit.
Zasp is a tall and slender wasp with crooked antennae and mandibles. He has a rusty colored carapace with a dark grey torso, unlike most wasps, who have yellow and brown as their main coloring. His forearms and legs sport a bright marigold hue, and on his back are dark grey wings. On one of his legs, he sports a pink poofy ribbon. It was gifted by an old friend. Over his eye is a scar he obtained from sharp rubble. His tail-like abdomen is assorted with black, and his stinger is also the signature yellow. Zasp closely resembles a paper wasp.
It's been said that Zasp is not from the Wasp Kingdom, but a land far away from Bugaria. Zasp is absolutely obsessed with Mothiva and everything she does, even if it becomes morally questionable or wrong. He likes to keep her secret of being a spiteful idol behind the facade of her beauty and flawless singing. Despite being a wasp, it's presumed that Mothiva and Zasp are in a romantic relationship. She appears less harsh with Zasp, but she tends to have her sass and brattines all the time. Though it's become apparent that Mothiva has been trying to be a better person and not a bitch all the time.
Zasp can throw needles or kick with his powerful legs, hitting multiple times each time. He can also eat a Spicy Berry, raising his attack for a short amount of time. Hitting Mothiva while Zasp is active will further anger him. KO'ing Mothiva will result in Zasp raising his attack permanently.
- #47Mothiva
Keys: popular, idol, singer, Mothiva, diva, Team Mothiva, moth
Mothiva appears as most moths. Her entire body is cream-coloured with patches of white fluff around her chest, waist, hips and legs. Her wings are also quite fluffy, being primarily used as a cape or robe. Around her antenna is a cherry red decoration that appears similar to a flower.
While in public, Mothiva masks herself as a kind and loving person towards all of her fans. In truth, however, she is snide, arrogant, egotistical, and a incredibly vain individual, who wishes for nothing more than for others to see her as the shining star she believes she is.
Although the leader of her own exploration team, she is shown to be incompetent at her job, preferring to do performances instead. This is made apparent during her first appearance with Team Snakemouth, where she begs them for her team to get that chapter's Ancient Artifact. Her excuse is that she tries to "bring joy to Bugaria's citizens."
Outside of her fans, the only person Mothiva is shown to care about is her partner, both in-crime and romantically, Zasp. The two appear to have a strong feeling towards each other, with Mothiva reviving Zasp whenever he's knocked out in-battle. When it does come to her fans, if they root for anyone else other than Mothiva, she will often become envious of the person they're rooting for, and will call them "stupid" behind their backs.
Mothiva is able to attack with her music, summoning music notes to hurt her opponents. Otherwise, she can be direct with a powerful kick capable of knocking bugs down. She will even attempt to stomp the bug repeatedly while theyre still down.
- #48Honey Factory
Keys: factory, Honey, Bee Kingdom, Bees, Honey Factory, hive
Honey Factory is an area connected to Bee Kingdom Hive. The factory is managed by many worker bees, who are involved in honey production and storage. There are periodically tours for tourists, as well as a tourist shop in the main lobby. The Overseer is the factory's highest-ranking employee, and is in charge of making sure the Honey Factory runs smoothly. The Honey Factory consists of three main parts: The Factory area, the Storage area and the Core Area. The Factory area is where honey is made, and many lesser bugs and robots roam there. The Storage area has many boxes storing honey, and many mechanisms can be found there as well. The Core Area is guarded by the Heavy Drone B-33, who goes uncontrollable after the Code 32 Error happens. The core is one piece of the Ancient Key.
The dormitory, tourist shop and the overseer's room can also be found in this area, at the South or the entrance.
- #49Queen Elizant II
Keys: And Kingdom, Elizant, Queen Elizant
Being the direct daughter to Queen Elizant I, Queen Elizant II bears resemblances to her mother. Physically, she is a tall, slim ant with a light and dark orange color scheme with black antennae. She wears a mask similar to Elizant I, though only sports four black slits instead of the six her mother had. Elizant also adorns Elizabethan-inspired clothing, with puffy shoulders, a long collar that bears the Ant Kingdom's insignia, a coat with two tails (though depicted in Bug Fables: The Art of Bugaria as 6-8 pedals that spike up), an undershirt that goes from waist-down, and a flower wreath. When unmasked, Elizant sports yellow-green eyes.
Elizant II is quite headstrong and has a "powerful aura" at the beginning of the game, though this is likely due to her status and expectations of being a queen. During the first few chapters of the game, she has displayed some dismissive and rather harsh feelings towards her subordinates. While she is capable of gratitude and rewarding people accordingly, she is shown to have low tolerance of questions and is quite secretive as well.
Later on, however, she is shown in a new light. It is revealed that her secrecy and desperation to find The Everlasting Sapling stems from her desire to bring back her dying mother. Despite her relatively harsh nature, she is shown to genuinely care about her subordinates, willingly giving Hoaxe the remaining artifacts so that her people are spared. It is also shown that she harbors deep insecurity and finds herself unfitting of being queen of her kingdom, undeserving of kind words and consolation. This insecurity serves to fuel her desire to find The Everlasting Sapling and bring her mother back. By the end of the game, she has come to terms that, while she may not be as great as a ruler as Elizant I, she can still be a great ruler in her own right. After traveling with Team Snakemouth, she also becomes more understanding and attentive to her subjects.
