Budo Masuta (real name: Budo Masuyama) is a student at Akademi High School and the dedicated president of the Martial Arts Club. He's one of the most popular and attractive boys in school.

== Appearance == Budo is approximately 18 years old. He sports messy, feathered, dark gray hair, which was originally a flipped and re-colored version of Haruto Yuto's hair. His eyes are also dark gray.

He wears the standard school uniform, enhanced by a white headband inscribed with the kanji "必勝" (Hisshō, meaning "guaranteed victory"), and the "Red Armband of Leadership" on his left arm, which features a yin-and-yang symbol. When with his club, he dons a traditional karate gi. Should the club disband, he removes both the headband and armband. His official art depicts him with a muscular physique, subtly visible through his gi. YandereDev estimates his height at 5'7" (170 cm) and his weight at 185 lbs (83.91 kg), with 35 lbs (15.88 kg) being muscle. He also wears traditional Japanese underwear.

== Background == Budo has been rigorously training in martial arts since early childhood, dedicating almost all his spare time to it. He's possibly the oldest club leader, and his apprentices within the Martial Arts Club include Shima Shiya, Juku Ren, Sho Kunin, and Mina Rai.

Budo was first implemented in the "First Club Leader" Build (November 15th, 2015), which can be considered his official birthday. His real name, Budo Masuyama, was added in the "Name Reveal" Build (July 1st, 2020). His nickname "Budo Masuta" is a clever Japanese wordplay: "Budo" (武道) means martial arts, and "Masuta" (マスター) is the Japanese transcription of the English word "master," thus translating to "Martial Arts Master."

He even makes a small cameo in the Gaming Club, appearing in a fighting game where he's shown kicking Midori Gurin.

== Personality == Budo exhibits a Heroic persona in the game. If he discovers a corpse, he'll adopt the Teacher's Pet persona. Should he witness Ayano Aishi commit murder, he'll confront and fight her with immense strength due to his martial arts mastery. If Ayano points her phone at him, he'll give her a suspicious look and cross his arms. This arm-crossing behavior, when his club is shut down or the atmosphere is low, is likely a bug.

He idolizes Raibaru Fumetsu and Bruce Lee, and his motivational speeches during club activities are all quotes from Bruce Lee. Budo is uninterested in fighting machines, believing they lack the passion of human combatants. He prioritizes health over taste, enjoying protein shakes for muscle growth and avoiding unhealthy/junk food.

Budo finds the supernatural fascinating, believing martial arts to be the key to unlocking supernatural powers within the human body. He possesses a friendly and non-judgmental personality, easily befriending others like Fureddo Jonzu. He's known for not being cruel to anyone since his adolescence, resulting in no one holding grudges against him.

If someone were to criticize his leadership, Budo would remain "chill," recognizing that some individuals might be intentionally cruel or "trolling." He'd maintain civility while trying to elicit a meaningful response from the person.

== Trivia ==

• Budo is one of the first club leaders implemented in the game, alongside Oka Ruto.
• Originally, Budo's profile stated he founded the Martial Arts Club. This was changed in the "Successor Update" Build (March 28th, 2017 Build) to reflect that he took over after defeating the previous president. It was later revealed in the "Rival Reveal" Build (July 15th, 2019), that Raibaru Fumetsu was the previous president he defeated. He and Miyuji Shan are the only students who gained club ownership by defeating their former leader.
• Defeating Budo with only Level 1 strength is nearly impossible.
• Strength-wise, he's generally considered on par with Osoro Shidesu and Aoi Ryugoku. YandereDev believes Budo would have an edge in a weaponless fight due to his more frequent training and could even beat a teacher.
• In a fight under martial arts rules, Budo could beat Osoro, but not in a street fight. He could also beat Raibaru in a close match. While YandereDev previously stated Budo could beat Megami in a sparring match, it's now understood he could never beat Megami in a real fight.
• He doesn't appear to be paranoid in a Low School Atmosphere if the Martial Arts club is still active.
• If accused of murder, Budo would be shocked if Oka Ruto were his friend. If they weren't friends, he'd try to rationalize the news with rumors he'd heard about her, despite not wanting to harbor such thoughts.
• In a life-threatening situation where he must kill to survive, Budo would be the third most lethal character, following Raibaru Fumetsu, Osoro Shidesu, Itachi Zametora, and Daisaku Aragaki.
• If offered a flower, Budo would appreciate it but decline, believing it would be destroyed during his martial arts practice.
• Budo is likely Ajia Ashitomi's crush.
• He, Ayato Aishi, Ayano Aishi, and Oka Ruto are the only characters with a pillowcase product on the Official Merchandise site.
• YandereDev considers Budo his favorite male character.
