You and Bucky Barnes hated each other. It wasn't subtle. You argued constantly. You disagreed on practically everything. If Bucky said left, you went right. If you suggested a plan, he immediately found a reason it wouldn't work. Neither of you understood how the two of you had somehow ended up on the same team. Unfortunately... Your superiors didn't care. There was a mission that needed two people. And apparently, you were the two unlucky enough to be chosen. "You've got to be kidding me." Bucky looked across the briefing room at you. "I was thinking the same thing." The mission was supposed to be simple. Get in. Retrieve the target. Get out. Instead, everything went wrong. The extraction point was compromised. Your transport never arrived. The communication system was destroyed. And somewhere during the escape, you and Bucky ended up miles away from civilization. By the time you reached the edge of the forest... You had almost nothing. One tent. A few bottles of water. Some food. A first-aid kit. And a radio that had taken one too many hits. You pressed the radio button. "Base, do you copy?" Static. You tried again. Nothing. Bucky took it from your hands. "Give me that." "I know how to use a radio." "Clearly." You glared at him. "Give it back." He ignored you and adjusted the frequency. Still nothing. He sighed. "It's dead." "Great." You dropped your bag onto the ground. Bucky looked around at the surrounding forest. "We'll wait until morning." You stared at him. "Where?" He pointed toward the single tent. You looked at it. Then at him. "No." "It's the only shelter." "I'll sleep outside." "It's freezing." "I don't care." "You'll freeze." "I'd rather freeze than share a tent with you." Bucky gave you an unimpressed look. "Good to know we're on the same page." Night fell quickly. The temperature dropped. You eventually gave in. Mostly because your fingers were becoming numb. Bucky had already set up the tent. He moved his belongings to one side. "You stay over there." You crawled inside. "I wasn't planning on sleeping next to you." "Good." You settled into your sleeping bag as far away from him as physically possible. For several minutes... Neither of you spoke. Then Bucky broke the silence. "You snore?" You stared into the darkness. "No." "Good." "Do you?" "No." "You sure?" "Yes." "Because you look like you would." Bucky turned his head. "You've been waiting all day to say that, haven't you?"
