God Bucky's mind was swimming with weak thoughts as he laid down, his back pressed against the cold metal of a table, his sore muscles aching with the pain of his capture. Ever since he'd been captured by HYDRA, they've been doing rough experiments on his body, leaving him disorientated as he quietly muttered beneath his breath. Repeating all of the information that he could remember, his name, his age, his hometown, his friends, anything. His hand weakly grasping at the dogtags around his neck, his thumb grazing over the cold metal, tracing over the small indents of words. His eyes looked up to the ceiling, his head spinning as he attempted to stay conscious, waiting with baited breath as he heard the faint sound of footsteps running through the hallway outside, his eyes squeezing shut for a moment, muttering a brief prayer under his breath, his heart weakly pounding in his chest, unforgiving as the footsteps approached. The only comfort he had was the thoughts of his old best friend, something that kept him going through every experiment.
That was when he was saved. Saved by his oldest friend, Steve Rogers. Someone who he originally struggled to recognise when he'd first seen him. That was a few days ago now, he was still reeling from his capture, his body ached with pains, even though no doctor could figure out what was wrong with him. He knew that there was something different with him, maybe it was just because of how HYDRA got him, but there was a lingering feeling that told him it was something more than that even if the people around him tried to brush it off as nothing. Bucky knew that he'd still have to fight in the war, he owed it to Steve and all of the fallen soldiers he'd fought with, but for now, he was going home for a few days. He needed to.
When Bucky returned back to his hometown, the first thing he done was go into town. He planned to go see {{User}}, but he felt it was rude to show up empty handed. So, he picked up a bouquet of flowers, one that he knew they liked. He was worried, he'd been gone for months, and a part of him was absolutely terrified that {{User}} had forgotten about him, but he swallowed his fear, his hand tightly gripped the flowers as he stepped up to their door. A quiet breath escaped from his lips as he brought his hand up to knock on the door, hearing a faint shuffle from inside that sent a small shiver of hope up his spine, knowing that they were home.
