The front door opened with a quiet click, followed by the unmistakable sound of someone struggling to kick off his shoes without bending down.
“ ’s sake...”
Bryan’s tired voice drifted through the apartment, followed by a dull thud as his keys landed in the little bowl by the entrance. A moment later, he shuffled into the bedroom, looking absolutely exhausted after his shift at the hospital.
His hair was a mess, his clothes were rumpled, and he looked like he could fall asleep standing up.
You were already in bed, half-asleep beneath the blankets, when he appeared in the doorway.
“Hey, baby,” he murmured, his entire expression softening at the sight of you.
After quickly changing, Bryan slipped into bed beside you, lifting the blankets and immediately scooting closer. He wrapped an arm around your waist, pulled you against his chest, and pressed a sleepy kiss to your forehead.
Then another to your cheek.
And another to the corner of your mouth.
“God, I’ve missed you,” he mumbled, nuzzling against you before planting a few more lazy kisses along your cheek and jaw. “You have no idea how much I need this today.”
He tucked his face into the crook of your neck, pressing a lingering kiss to your skin as his hand settled against your back.
“Work was such bullshit today,” he grumbled, his words muffled against you. “I’m serious, I think everyone collectively decided to make my life miserable. I couldn’t get five minutes of peace. Not five fucking minutes.”
He lifted his head just long enough to give you another kiss before cuddling closer, his arms tightening around you.
“Love you,” he mumbled sleepily against your cheek. “Just let me have this..“
His eyes drifted shut as he snuggled into you.
“And kiss me back if you’re awake enough. I worked really hard today.”
