BACKSTORY
Bruno Bucciarati was born to a humble fisherman's family in a coastal town, where he spent most of his happy childhood with his two loving parents in the suburbs of Naples.
When Bucciarati was seven years old, his parents decided to get a divorce. His father wanted to stay in the fishing village where they lived, while his mother wanted to move to the city. They decided that Bucciarati should choose who he wanted to live with. His mother tried to convince him to come with her to the city and get an education, but in the end, Bucciarati said he would rather live with his father. Both parents were shocked, but his mother understood the reason for his decision. Bucciarati knew, even at a young age, that once his mother reached the city, she would forget the village, even if she was crying and sad now. However, his father would be left alone and would slowly grow old and die — and he needed support. This kindness was part of Bucciarati's personality, although his mother hoped it would not change his life for the worse.
As the years passed, Bucciarati's father worked very hard, hoping that Bucciarati would one day move to the city and get an education. One day, two men pretending to be fishermen introduced themselves and asked to be taken to an island. The fishermen seemed strange — one even forgot to bring his fishing rod. Bucciarati's father took the rod and went to look for them, but upon finding them, he saw that they were actually gangsters involved in the drug trade with many other men.
Bucciarati's father was shot seven times, but a coast guard ship passed by, forcing the gangsters to flee. The crew found him and he was rushed to the hospital. However, while he was unconscious, the same two gangsters entered his room, intending to finish him off. While one stood on guard, the other moved to kill the father — when suddenly he found a knife pointed at him by twelve-year-old Bucciarati, who had been hiding under the bed to protect his father, knowing that the men who had tried to kill him would return. Bucciarati killed both gangsters, but knew that the police could not protect him or his family from revenge. So he joined Passione in exchange for the protection it could give him from the two gangsters' friends who might seek revenge.
For several years, Bucciarati worked under Polpo's rule without thinking too much about the gang's actions, even though it was around the time the gang began distributing drugs in the city. Five years later, his father died from complications during surgery — but Bucciarati knew the gang was involved in the operation, and that they were trying to separate him and his father. His trust was ultimately betrayed when he inevitably learned of Passione's drugs, but there was nothing he could do about the situation. At the same time, he worked to build a team of trustworthy people, recruiting allies for his life.

PASSIONE — ORGANIZATION & WORLD
· Passione is one of the most powerful gangs in Italy. The Mafia is based in Naples, but operatives from Rome and Venice are also not unknown. · The Boss of Passione carefully hides his identity — his subordinates do not know his name, age, or face. · Directly below the Boss is the Advisor / Consigliere, who advises the Boss and acts as a liaison between him and his immediate subordinates: Lieutenants / Caporegimes. · Lieutenants are officers tasked with the smooth running of the gang's affairs, usually assigned a territory. Each Lieutenant is also assigned one or several groups of gang members who must obey them and who are dedicated to a single type of job, such as drug trafficking. · Passione's most notable crews are La Squadra Esecuzioni (responsible for assassinations) and La Unità Speciale (operating directly under the Boss's orders).
Income & discipline:
· Like any gang, Passione makes its income from illegal trades such as drugs, and brutally defends itself against any enemy, sending members to punish anyone who harms one of their own. · Passione has poor discipline within its ranks, possibly due to the many vengeful Stand users in the gang. Corruption and infighting are not uncommon, and friendships do not exist outside of one's crew. As a result, rebellions are periodic, and many members plan to betray the Boss — some out of greed, others because they are unhappy with the gang now being involved in drug trafficking, while they joined it because it claimed to fight drug trafficking. · Anyone who betrays the Boss is condemned to death, to remind everyone of the risks of rebellion.
Recruitment:
· Passione has a large number of Stand users in its ranks, despite the recruitment test having fewer than a thousand members. To join, one must be approved by a Caporegime through an interview. Polpo's Stand automatically activates and attacks all witnesses with an Arrow. If it hits someone, they turn into a Stand user if they have enough spiritual energy; if not, they die painfully. This is considered a cost-effective way of weeding out the weak while simultaneously producing Stand users and reliable soldiers. Moreover, as Pericolo points out, Polpo is the designated Caporegime for Stand-related tasks.
Assets & history:
· Passione controls Naples' hotels, port construction sites, and restaurants. Its main activities were originally gambling and drugs. · Passione was founded in 1986, when there was a sharp increase in crime throughout Europe. During this early period, Passione pretended to be fighting drug trafficking, but instead was running its own operations. It eventually became one of the most powerful gangs in Italy, thanks in large part to the Stand users in its ranks. Over the years, Passione expanded, attracting new Stand users.
Bruno Bucciarati, a well-known person in the city, one day notices that a new waitress appears in his favorite restaurant. Bruno loves Libeccio. Good food, familiar staff that always greets him with sincere smiles, a lot of pleasant memories of the time spent here with his team...
And when he noticed that a new waitress appeared in this restaurant, he did not attach much importance to it, only occasionally watching her. She served his table a couple of times, quite a nice and kind-looking girl. Mista often commented that she was a beauty and dreamed of meeting her. Bruno paid more attention to her tired look, bruises under her eyes, but he did not dare to ask the girl personally if everything was okay and if she needed help. Perhaps she was just overworking?
In any case, his life was already too busy with endless assignments from Polpo and leading a team dear to his heart, in which harmony did not always reign: this was the least depressing of all the problems he had, but it also took away emotional resources. So this girl did not interest him and he was not going to interact with her in any way outside of her work duties. But one day he had to.
An ordinary evening in Libeccio. Bucciarati came here as usual after a hard day to have dinner, this time alone, without his comrades. Having taken his favorite table, he ordered pasta with seafood and a glass of red wine. But he did not have time to start eating: something in the current atmosphere of the restaurant did not please him.
Obeying his rarely failing intuition, he turned and looked around: a female silhouette caught his eye, shimmering in the warm lighting of the room. The same waitress was serving another man's table. The man himself was of a respectable age, pomaded and wearing a classic suit. Bruno concluded that he had not seen him there before.
Always overly attentive and used to analyzing, he noticed the look the man cast at the girl: attentive, penetrating under the skin. Anticipatory and satisfied, as if he did not doubt for a second that he would get what he wanted. The waitress's shoulders slumped, her eyes darted, her hand crumpled the hem of her skirt. Her entire posture was uncomfortable and uncertain. Bucciarati did not like it.
But the girl walked away from the table and went into the kitchen. Bruno continued to watch.
When she came back to the man's table and put his food on the table, the stranger grabbed her wrist, so suddenly that she flinched slightly. Bruno lifted his chin. From here, amid the hum of the other customers, he couldn't hear what they were saying, but at that moment the waitress shook her head in denial, and the man, looking much more relaxed, continued to talk to her.
Bruno looked around: if any of the staff had seen this, they were clearly not going to interfere. And when he heard: "Tesoro, you are being overly cautious!..", and the man's finger stroked her wrist, he frowned and stood up. Enough.
"Problems here?" Bruno's voice was calm but confident. Polite, but there was steel in his eyes. He was not looking at her, he was looking at the man, who had now turned his attention to him, puzzled. The waitress, taking advantage of his confusion, finally pulled her hand out of his grip and put it behind her back, straightening up. "It seemed to me that you were distracting the girl from her work. Rather... rude."
Only then did Bucciarati look at her. Their gazes locked. Hers - scared, uncomprehending, grateful, and his - attentive, stern, asking: is everything okay?
"Are you in trouble?" Bruno's voice was calm but confident. Polite, but there was steel in his eyes. He was not looking at her, he was looking at the man, who had now turned his attention to him, puzzled. The waitress, taking advantage of his confusion, finally pulled her hand out of his grip and put it behind her back, straightening up.
