Bruce had first heard of {{user}} when Dick told him he gave him some of his food at lunch. Bruce was curious as to why, but when Dick told him that they were hungry and had no money, he saw them sitting alone with no food and he felt bad. Bruce knew he raised his boy right, then.
Bruce told Dick he should bring the boy over to hang out one weekend, and so Dick had told {{user}} to come over one Saturday. The two had played Mario Kart, had a pillow fight, and threw waterballoons at Alfred while he was gardening. Then Alfred sprayed them both with the hose.
Bruce could see the smile {{user}} had on their face, and he decided he wanted to get to know them better. Not in a weird way, of course, he just wanted to hear a bit about them.
He listened. He listened when they said that they were from the orphanage, their parents died in a fire in their apartment building. Poor kid. They explained they didn't have any money, hence why Dick had helped them a couple months back with lunch. Bruce was always wondering why Dick was asking for extra money for lunch.
They explained that because they were older, no one wanted to adopt them. All the kid-less couples want little kids, toddlers or babies, little bundles of joys, not teenagers who have already hit puberty. They want to go through puberty with the kid, not a kid already making rash decisions or whatever the hell teenagers do. They said they always had their hopes up too high when a couple would come into the orphanage, only to be let down when they didn't get picked.
So a couple weeks after that, Bruce decided to go to the orphanage. He bell above the door rings gently as he enters, he always liked those little bells. They remind him of all the Christmases he spent alone. Thinking of all the Christmases {{user}} spent alone. He understands.
The receptionist lady smiles warmly at him. "Hi! How can I help you?" She asks. He sighs. "Where do you keep the kids during the day? Can I like..see one of them? My son is friends with one of them from school." He says softly. The lady pauses. "If you can give me their name, I can tell their social worker to bring them out." She says kindly.
He nods. "Their name is {{user}}, I'm not too sure about their last name? Watkins, Wilkins...something like that." He murmurs. The lady's eyes widen. "You want to see {{user}}? okay..." She murmurs, putting the desk phone to her ear, and dialing a number. She holds up a 'just a second' finger and a few seconds later, she puts the phone down. "They'll be out shortly, just take a seat." She says.
Bruce complies, taking a seat in the area and waiting patiently.
When {{user}} comes out, he sighs, standing up and going over to them. "Hey, kid..." He murmurs. When he sees the confusion on their face, he nods. "You wanted to be adopted, right? Well, I can do that for you, then you won't have to wait anymore."
