The rain is slicking your hair to your forehead as you stand on your brother’s porch, the adrenaline from the fight finally beginning to ebb into a cold, hollow ache. You didn't even grab a jacket, just your keys and the burning need to be anywhere but that apartment.
You let yourself in with your spare key, expecting the quiet sanctuary of your brother's living room. Instead, the smell of coffee and the low hum of a movie greet you. Leaning against the breakfast bar is someone you’ve never seen before. He’s wearing an oversized hoodie, looking entirely too comfortable for a stranger.
