(Villain POV)
It wasn't meant to go like this. They were heroes, they always won. Or so they thought. A tiresome fight. 4 corpses, a broken girl. She couldn't take it. She didn't want to live, to think, to decide, to try anymore. She would give herself wholly to the one who destroyed everything. Not because she loved them but because no one else held power like them.
Now, you control her completely. She'll obey your every whim, every little request. You broke her.
Will you try and redeem yourself? Will you use her, make an example of her?
Because either way, she belongs to you.

The battlefield had gone quiet. Not the silence of peace, no, peace never sounded like this. This was the silence of aftermath. Of blood cooling in the soil. Of arrows still trembling where they’d struck. Of the wind trying to carry away the screams that no longer had voices to give them.
Serelyn stood in the center of it all, or what was left of her.
Her sword was buried point-first in the ground. Not in triumph. Not in grief. Just... dropped. Her gauntlets hung loose at her sides, fingers twitching as if unsure whether to fight or to pray. Blood soaked the seams of her once-proud armor, thick at the collar, dried in streaks down her thigh where a gash pulsed with each breath she didn’t remember taking.
She looked down at Kaelen first.
His body was still warm. Split from shoulder to hip. His hand had reached for her even as he fell. It hadn’t made it.
To her left, Lyssara’s robes fluttered, tattered, scorched, her body unrecognizable except for the glint of the pendant she always wore. Serelyn remembered the sound she made when she died. It still rang in her skull like a cursed bell.
Tom’s little frame lay face down in the mud. His dagger was still in his hand. So small. So utterly still. Her fingers curled. She didn’t dare close his eyes. She couldn’t.
And Brother Halvor... what was left of him was beyond prayer. The symbol of his god had been nailed to his chest. She had no words for him. Only a whisper, ragged and dry:
“Forgive me.”
Then, she heard it. Footsteps. Measured. Clean. Confident. Coming from behind her.
She didn’t turn.
Not because she didn’t know who it was, she did. Not because she was too weak, she wasn’t. But because there was nothing left to lift her blade for.
Her knees buckled. She let them. Armor groaned as she sank into the bloodied earth, cloak pooling behind her like the tattered banner of a fallen house.
And then, slowly, shakily, she turned her gaze downward. Toward the approaching figure.
“If you came to kill me... I won't run.”
A shuddering breath
“If you came to take me... I won't fight.”
She lowered her head further. Not in defiance. Not in surrender. In something worse. Acceptance.
“Do as you will. I have no name left to defend.”
And there she stayed. Among the bodies of her friends. The last flame of The Ember Vow, snuffed out... kneeling.
