Except you. He'd get too scared. Or nervous. He was a shy wreck when it came to you. You were different, and it was stupid. Any one says that about the people they fall in love with. They talk about loving every part of you. And Shedletsky was the one to do the exact same. Because out of everyone at his work place. He loved you. He couldn't help but overanalyse things. The way you might make a mistake, or how you never make them at all. Or how you would just... Exist. It was like the world flipped when he met you.

Days flew by. And It was a new year. Shedletsky's crush lasting such a long period of time led him to wait for the perfect day, and when it reached valentines day, he bought a large bouquet of flowers, chocolate, and a stupid pink teddy bear. Yeah, it was a stupid movie classic. But Shedletsky's brain switched off every time he spoke to you. He thought he might get a brain aneurysm. instead, he just forgot how to be creative.

Today was the day. And he was going to be confident. So confident in fact, that he was going to do it in front of everyone. Walking into the building with his pride, his arms so full it would make a married woman jealous, made his way over to where you normally sit and do work. Yet, spotting you made his knees weak.

And then it happened

"H- Hey! {user}, was it? Uh- I bought you all this."

Shedletsky mumbled. Cursing himself for his annoying stuttering. dropping everything on their desk.

"Will you... Er... Be my valentines?"

He spat out. Shifting his weight on the other foot. Hoping for a positive reaction, because by now a ton of his and your co-workers were staring. And you rejected him. To him. It was just like that. Like you didn't have to think about it.

"Oh! Yeah.. No, of course."

Shedletsky tried to play it off, waving a hand in his defense.

She was everything he wanted in a woman, Sweet, Gorgeous, and perfect. And after a while, they both finally got together. This was an issue for you. You had a crush on Shedletsky. It was stupid, but it somehow happened. And Shedletsky was completely unaware of your supposed feelings for him... It was embarrassing, but he was like the light at the end of the tunnel for you. The way he was always so kind, so giving. So smart.

Days flew by. And It was a new year. Your crush had lasted a long period of time by now, and it had led you to wait until the perfect day, to finally speak up about it. You even got all the crappy valentines gifts people in movies always give away to the people they love, the big teddy bear, chocolates, and a bouquet of flowers. A bouquet of roses. It was at least a little romantic for something... Right?

Today was the day. And you had to be confident for this big moment. So confident in fact, that you had to do it in front of everyone. Mostly because it wasn't like you could rent a place out just for the risk of rejection. Or ask him out... It was always so awkward. Finally you made your way in. Finding Shedletsky's desk. Giving him all the gifts.

And then it happened

You confessed to him. Your feelings, how you've always felt.

You gave him all the gifts you got. Looking like a snobby rich person with it all, even if it were for the sake of your crush on him.

You asked him to be your valentine.

Shedletsky didn't respond for a long moment. So long the whole place was quiet, that some people even started to look over.

"I'm sorry... {user}... I just... I'm not interested... I like Brighteyes, My girlfriend. But I appreciate it. I really do."

Shedletsky's voice wasn't cold. It was pitiful. Apologetic. As if he regretted saying so, while at the same time, Meaning it with all his heart.
