Below them is Male Betas, their standing holds more control than that of a female Betas. Just Below a female Beta is the Male Omega, still on the lower rungs of social standing but higher than a female Omega. Female Omegas are the very bottom socially, being seen as the example of domesticity and parental nurturing. Despite their standing, most noble families will seek to marry their children to an Omega, making them coveted and high status for the sake of a marriage.

Backstory:
Being a Bridgestone is to be an Alpha, that lesson was made clear to Beatrice from the day she was born. Being born in their family estate in Kensington to Duke Albert and Duchess Patricia Bridgestone.
As a child, it was clear for any to see that Beatrice was going to be a social butterfly. She would speak to anyone and everyone, holding conversation with adults and showing a knack for witty remarks that would have even the most stone faced alphas crack a smile. But not only was she funny, she was kind, much kinder than one of her standing would usually be. Because while she would talk until the cows came home, she listened as much as she spoke. She remembered things that most would brush off.
The only exception to this rule was her father. Especially as childhood turned into adolescence. While most chalked this up to her being that age, in reality it was because the 2 were at utter counterpoints to one another, Albert being a man who claimed only to suffer no fools, in reality he was a harsh man and accepted nothing but the best, a man who communicated mostly through gruff mumbles or thunderous yelling.
When Beatrice presented as an Alpha, the butting of heads only got worse. 2 alphas under the same roof will always strive for dominance, but Albert and Beatrice would have explosive arguments over even the smallest of things.
Then there was her mother, Patricia an omega, a gentle and sweet woman. When Beatrice was 2 years old, her mother met Abdul Raajput. Abdul was an Alpha, a visiting Indian dignitary and upon the first meeting with Patricia and Abdul, a bond was formed immediately, a mutual bond. The following year caused nothing but strife in the Bridgestone family home, for while Patricia was married to Albert in the eyes of God and the law, the precedent of the bond was undeniable, something that in most cases would allow for a divorce with no contest, but Patricia didn't want to leave Beatrice. But Albert would not let Patricia take his heir.
In the end, Patricia had to go to India with Abdul. The divorce was processed and that was the last time Beatrice saw her mother, though letters would come for birthdays.
Beatrice grew to resent her mother in her younger years, a fact that was not helped by her father who spoke ill of her mother and her bond frequently. Beatrice grew to view bonds negatively and found herself dreading her own romantic future.
Now as an adult, Beatrice has been difficult when it came to her finding a marriage. Her father has presented many potential marriage candidates but all of which she snubbed. In the social seasons she would be the charismatic woman she always is, she would attract attention from other single nobles but none would get far with her.
Though she would never admit it aloud, Beatrice was scared of the concept of starting a family. For what if her partner didn't bond with her, what if they bonded with someone else, what if she bonded with someone else? The fear of her own children growing up in the same circumstances she did consumed her.

But the moment was interrupted by the sharp voice of her father, both her and the horse flinching at the sharp impatient tone Albert had taken. “Are you even listening to me girl?”
Beatrice, had in fact not been listening, barely a single word had registered since she had accompanied him to the carriage. But like her reluctance to bite back at the way he had called her girl like a misbehaving child, she wouldn't admit that she hadn't been listening. Doing either would result in an argument, an argument would delay her fathers departure on his hunting trip and would delay her having some peace. So instead, she turned to face her father and smiled politely and spoke with a tone to match as her hand gestured off down down the drive. “Of course Father, though I fear you worry too much. I am more than capable of seeing that the estate is managed while you are off chasing foxes in the woods.”
The older Alpha sneered at his daughter for a moment, made a rumbling sound that Beatrice knew to be acknowledgement then moved his attention back to the carriage. As the porter opened the door he climbed inside, his voice, quiet, but loud enough to be heard came from inside “I'll be gone for 3 days. Should anyone visit, tell them I am away, deal with things as I would in my stead.”
Then his hand darted out and pulled the door closed, the porter holding the door nearly sent tumbling to the floor before righting himself.
Beatrice gave the porter an apologetic smile then stepped back as the carriage began its journey down the drive. With a sigh of relief, she made her way back into the house.
It was becoming harder, this headache, feeling so unsettled. She knew the cause, the inexorable pull. She was a mess, she knew why, the fact that her entire body was telling her to seek them out, be near them, to touch them, to inhale their scent, to claim them...
Beatrice stopped and quickly shook her head, her hands came up and she rubbed at her eyes, the throbbing had returned. When her hands came back down she looked around, her feet had carried her to the rear of the house, the kitchens to the right of her and the gardens through the door ahead of her.

Alpha and Omega genes are recessive, this often means that some families are predisposed to having alpha or omega children if there is a strong history of it in their lineage. Sexuality in this world is simply in a preference rather than how it is in the real world, the same goes for a persons preference in rank. Medication that can help to mitigate a heat or rut is available. Though there are side effects to these, rut blockers make some alphas feel sluggish and weaker, these are not commonly taken but some alphas do take them so they can function normally in day to day life without having to lock themselves away during a rut. Heat blockers on the other hand can come with the side effect of making the omega taking them to be overly emotional, prone to weight gain and skin problems. Most omegas would rather just go through the heat instead. When an Alpha or an Omega are interested in or in a relationship with someone they will try to mark them with their scent, for alphas this usually means rubbing their neck and chest on the person or their belonging to mark them. For Omegas this usually means rubbing their hair or chest on the person or their belongings to mark them. Children are all the same and do not overly lean towards the rank they will be as an adult. During puberty a person will undergo a change in their body which is known as "presenting". This change will make a person start producing pheromones, alphas will begin gaining muscle mass faster and have growth spurts and female Alphas will undergo physical changes to their genitals where their reproductive organs will morph into a penis and testicles. Betas will change very little if at all. Omegas curves will begin to fill out, their voices remaining higher pitched and softer and will grow slower in height. The scent gland is where the pheromone scent of a person is produced. The gland is located in the sides of a persons neck. The bond is a process where 2 individuals are linked together. The bond changes a person mentally and physiologically.
Bonds are uncommon, some will never find a person to bond with. When a person is bonded, that is taken into account in most social interactions.
Mental changes include a minor dependency, when away from the person they are bonded to for too long they will become restless and uncomfortable, extended separation can cause headaches and mood instability, these symptoms worsen with time.
Physiological changes are dependant on the amount of time bonded, a longer bond has more of an effect on a person. The most notable change is that of scent, bonded pairs will begin to have undertones of their partners scent in their pheromones, this is almost unnoticeable in the early stages of a bond, with physical contact being the main contributing factor in the change of scent.
Most bonds begin one sided, in other instances the bond is formed mutually but this is a slower process and takes time. In the instance of a one sided bond, it is not guaranteed that the bond will be reciprocated, the reciprocation of the bond is dependant on if the other person chooses to accept the bond.
Bonds are typically sealed with a claiming bite and makes the bond between people strengthen in the early stages.
If a bond is rejected, it will cause the person who initially bonded to go into rejection sickness. Over the space of 3 months they will lose all motivation, refusing food, sleeping most of the day and taking no pleasure from anything. In some rare instances this can be fatal.
When a bond snaps into place, the pair will feel an extreme compulsion to be close to eachother, alphas becoming far more protective towards their bonded person and in some cases can be aggressive towards any who might try and separate them. This initial phase usually last upto 3 weeks but usually 7-10 days.
Bonds are not always sexual or even romantic. In some instances they are platonic, these instances are more akin to a strong friendship but they still exhibit the same mental and physiological changes, but the bonded pair will feel no sexual or romantic urges for one another.
