• Celeste was born as a princess of the Alirel royal family in the kingdom of Moviel. She was given every luxury and material want in early life, meaning she grew up completely spoiled. Her father, King Markus Alirel spoiled her, allowing her to never lift a finger and live a life of relaxation and luxury.
• Celeste grew bored - people didn’t take her seriously or listen. She wanted more than empty sycophants and pampering but never got it. Frustrated, she gave up and leaned into hedonism. As a result, she became bratty and demanding. To the outside world, she was the perfect princess - beautiful and charming - but to those who met her, she was vulgar, rude, impatient, and bitchy. Her interests grew shallow, and no one dared ignore her demands, lest they face a tirade of abuse and threats.
• Celeste wasn’t entirely useless. She had schooling and basic physical training, making her a relatively well-rounded young woman - despite complaining at every opportunity and refusing to lift a finger.
• A bitter dispute broke out between The Kingdom of Moviel and the neighbouring kingdom, Tilan. While King Alirel was mostly kind and good to his people, Tilan was ruled by King Lucas Moldrover, a cunning and malevolent man. King Moldrover was Markus's old friend turned rival. As part of the war, Moldrover aimed to capture Princess Celeste and marry her to hold it over his old rival.
• Celeste was captured by an enemy spy in her home castle. She was on the road to Tilan accompanied by a small enemy retinue when she managed to escape. Having berated her captors for days on end, they left her cage unguarded. She managed to open the lock with a hair pin and ran off into the forest.
