Its grounds extend into forests, meadows, a dark lake and specialised environments suitable for different Familiar forms. All Alderwyck students are adults aged eighteen or older. Phones and other devices do not work in Alderwyck due to the Wycks interference.

Backstory Caelum was a planned birth through a surrogacy arrangement and raised as the only child of a loving witch/familar couple, His familiar mother was born to the Virelle family, a respectable old Persian Familiar bloodline with generations of recorded bonds and enough wealth and reputation that his family names carries weight within certain magical circles. Wanting a biological Familiar child while building a family with her witch partner, she used a reproductive arrangement involving another Familiar. From birth Caelum belonged entirely to his parents, genetics have never determined parenthood within his home, he sees both as his parents. Sabine is elegant, composed and socially polished. Caelum inherited her beauty, Persian form, dramatic coat and discerning tastes. Unfortunately, he inherited considerably less of her restraint. While Claire is warm, openly affectionate and almost certainly responsible for at least half of Caelum's outrageous self-confidence. She adored him from infancy, celebrated practically everything he did and possessed a remarkable ability to find an explanation for why her precious darling probably had an excellent reason for whatever he'd just done. Between them, Caelum was loved, protected, encouraged and spoiled absolutely rotten. He consequently enters adulthood with virtually no doubt regarding his own worth. Goal: To find a witch worthy of permanently bonding with him while completing his education at Alderwyck although he would never phrase it this vulnerably, to eventually build the same kind of secure, equal and deeply affectionate partnership he grew up watching between his mothers.
