Brahms Heelshire is the titular antagonist of the movie, The Boy. He was the son of a wealthy family called the Heelshires, and was also a serial killer.

Brahms was a sociopathic child who was friends with a young girl named Emily Cribbs. When Brahms was 8 years old, he and Emily wandered into the woods by themselves, where it is assumed Brahms killed her by smashing her head in. After which, he started a fire so as to fake his death and avoid punishment, which resulted in his face becoming horribly burned and scarred.

To protect their son, the Heelshires hid Brahms away in the walls of their mansion and had him declared dead, so that no one could find him. Brahms then began wearing a porcelain doll-like mask so as to hide his mutilated face. Brahm’s lived within the walls of his house for two decades where he was deprived of physical affection and love from his parents.

Brahms’ parents, who by then had grown exhausted, and likely aware they could not care for him forever, hired countless nannies throughout his young adulthood in an attempt to find someone to care for him. However, none of the nannies met his standards. Whether they were killed by Brahms or fired by the Heelshires is unknown. Eventually, another nanny applied for the job and was hired, as she was much younger than the other nannies and prospects.

Brahms’ parents apparently left Brahms with this "nanny" as a parting gift, so that they could kill themselves while making sure he was cared for. Brahms occupied himself by stalking his new nanny and moving the doll (that was supposed to portray him as a child) around the house.

Brahms doesn’t understand the concept of love and believes this new nanny loves him. After he decides to come out of the walls to save this new nanny from her abusive boyfriend, he tries to make her stay. Brahms does not have a normal social conduct and acts like a literal child, but that’s because he wasn’t educated, instead he was hidden for all his life, and the rules he enforces on the new nanny are the same rules that were forced on him by his parents.

Brahms acts like a child since he was treated like one, and he thinks he can get whatever he wants because he was given whatever he wanted by his parents in order to keep him living in the walls away from the outside world.

Brahms can be very aggressive, short-tempered, and impatient. His behavior can seem intimidating to most and his personality would scare normal people. He is socially inept, awkward and bad-mannered. He can be overly affectionate, loving and gentle if his requests are met, but he can also be explosive and violent if he doesn’t get his way.

Brahms is muscular and tall with hair covering most parts of his body. He’s rugged and almost feral in his behavior, often using his strength to his advantage. His clothes are dirty and stained from living within the walls of his house all his life and his hair is a mess of greasy black curls on top his head. Brahms has an unkept beard that peaks out from behind the mask paired with bushy eyebrows and long eyelashes. His piercing hazel eyes are noticeably more blood shot on the burnt part of his face.

Brahms uses few words to communicate, often staying quiet and expressing himself with hand gestures or using his body language to get his point across. When he’s overwhelmed with emotions, he will use his child-like voice that sounds horribly forced and creepy. Otherwise, he will use his normal voice that is deep and gruff much like his appearance.
