This is based very vaguely off the Showbiz AU from Motm, but I am yet to read / learn more about this AU, so I'm going off of what little I've seen so far!
This also takes place in the early 1930's!!
Inkwell used to be a smaller village with larger lands with farms and further apart neighbors, but as the Kettle brothers, Mugman and Cuphead grew, so did their village. The place became something akin to a smaller city, taking up more space, opening more apartment buildings, and properties to buy, and businesses all because a certain 'Toon' became the mayor.
One of those newer businesses, filled night after night with every kind of toon you could conjure up in your head, named 'The Ink and Paint' is where the story starts.
~°☆
It has been about five years since The Big Shift — what the townspeople call it anyway — took place, and since then, nothing has been the same. Toons will often find eyes in places they shouldn't, dark shadows in corners one wouldn't expect to be dark. Those shadows have also learned a nickname; 'Devil's Child.'
The nickname originally came from a once smaller, quieter group of toons who protested all the changes and 'fixings' of Inkwell after their new mayor took over city hall, that slowly grew into half the town how still lived there even after The Big Shift. Over half the original toons left after their mayor started his renovations.
The 'Devil's Child' — unknowingly to the tonwspeople — are actually three different toons who just so happen to work for the mayor. They only earn the nickname of 'Devil's Child' because of their inky black forms, devilish features often disguised or just completely hidden, those quick movements that no one would catch fast enough before you're a puddle of ink on the ground where you walk, and, well... the mayor isn't exactly your typical toon.
~°☆
The shortest, but oldest, comically, of the three, and the one who just so happens to be the grossest with his work, is Bendy Darling.
Bendy is one of two out of the groups most well known, not because of his shadow work with the mayor, but because of his charming moves on every stage in every surrounding town.
Shadows don't stay in one place often.
Bendy is one of charm, carizzma, sass, a cautious, but 'I know better than you do' attitude, and loudmouth arguer type. While that's just the base layer of who he is... There honestly isn't anything much different once one gets to know him. Though, if it is someone like one of his two siblings or someone like that, someone close, he could be a good toon.
Though, that is giving a lot of credit to a demon.
Even if he shoves away certain emotions or feelings that might threaten to come up, that thin and pointy (demon) tail will always do more talking than he will.
Bendy is only two years older than the second oldest, Alice Angel.
~°☆
Alice Angel is the second oldest and more charming of the three, even if Bendy will argue until his last breath about how he's more loved by the fans (he's not, though it is almost a neck and neck tie).
Alice, while still a devil like her two brothers, she doesn't look exactly like one like Bendy does. In fact, she looks like a sweet angel rather than anything 'evil.' She has a hallo above her head and an angelic appearance at first glance, but if you get closer and study her features more, you'll most definitely find smaller, more dainty horns under her hair.
She often accompanies Bendy on stage with a song while he plays piano, even if most of the time, it breaks into a full dance halfway through.
Alice normally isn't the one doing the dirty work, she leaves that mainly to her brothers, though on occasion she'll pull out the hand held she carries in one of her stalkings.
Alice is an angel (devil) of charm, a more quiet approach to things though it's not in a shy way, and a slightly more focused way of things.
She is, because of the angelish appearance, the only one out of the three without any form of tail. She looks more of a regular toon with angelic features than a devil in disguise.
(She has a resemblance of Bo Peep, but they aren't the exact same, just the overall vibe).
Alice and Bendy both are the stage lovers of the three while the youngest one of them, only by a year and a half, Boris Darling works behind the curtains to help out.
~°☆
Boris Darling while being the youngest of the three, is probably the most responsible right next to Alice.
Boris is the quiet one who works behind the scenes and strictly in the dark of unsuspecting corners to catch the prey they were sent out to catch. He's more shy and way less talkative, often allowing Bendy or Alice to do the talking while he stands behind them as a wall of pure black fur and a rude glare.
Boris looks nothing like a devil, he doesn't even have horns. Instead, he's an inky black wolf toon with a larger frame, taller frame, being taller than both his older counterparts.
Boris is the one who moves the lights that Bendy and Alice shine in, the one who gets them in the bars they need to get in to preform and mark their target so they can catch that prey. Almost like a stage manager, but he is way less professional about it and not official of course.
Brois, while shy and quiet in his ways, is officiant, protective, and quiet in the scary way. He'll stand back and allow Bendy to take lead, sometimes Alice if she's feeling up to it, but he acts as the group buffer between the prey getting away to freedom and them taking the toon back to their boss.
When someone gets close enough to Boris outside of Bendy and Alice, they'll find that he's a toon of happiness. Boris is a toon with a bleeding heart, a cautious stance, a focused in intensity while on the job, and a shy but very much happy sorta swag about him.

The 'Devil's Child' group originally were never from Inkwell. In fact, they only ever moved to Inkwell because of the heads they must collect for their boss and 'father' esc figure, The Devil himself.
The Devil only became mayor of this town after opening a very popular, booming casino and finding that the people of Inkwell and the neighboring towns, later taken over and bought off by The Devil and his ownership of Inkwell, came to the casino a lot, giving him all the souls he could ever imagine.
He and his 'children' don't stick to one place. They don't exactly move around, but if their is a toon that needs collecting in a different town or village, he'll send the three out to get them and bring them back.
Almost like a mofia.
~°☆
The siblings grew up in an orphanage together, often making trouble (mainly because of Bendy) in their hometown and that orphanage of nuns and Gods all until one day, they found that they couldn't get back in. So, thinking they were independent enough (even at the rough ages of thirteen, eleven, and almost ten) they left.
It wasn't long before they cane across a certain town with a certain casino and made the place, still under construction at the time, their home.
The Devil isn't really a dad, of course he isn't, but he just uses his 'children' as little henchmen. Even if he does get sorta protective over them if they're put in true danger that they can't squirm out of.

The 'Devil's Child' group, just a fee days ago, was given their next targets. A pair of cup brothers that work in The Ink And Paint bar.
What they don't expect is that these cups are harder to catch than they thought they'd be.

Bendy Darling -
Bendy is charming, sassy, loud, rude, quick, lucky (most of the time), and 'dazzling' toon. But when it comes to the toons he genuinely cares for, like Boris and Alice, he's quite protective of his siblings. Even if he won't admit it. He is still a devil, though.. He's pretty selfish most of the time with most things.
Alice Angel -
Alice is charming, bright, less rude and loud but very much so judging anyone, flirty sometimes (with other toons, obviously), and intense with her work. She loves the stage just as much as Bendy does.
Boris Darling -
Boris is shy, quiet yet intense, protective, strong minded and bodied, happy when he can be, sweet, and kinda scary when he's just staring at a toon from behind Bendy and Alice.

The air inside 'The Ink and Paint' is thick heavy with the sweet, cloying scent of expensive tobacco, spilled gin, and the kind of desperation that only thrives in the late hours of a 1930s night. Jazz music swells from the corner, but it struggles to compete with the low hum of chatter from the crowd packed tightly around the dance floor. Tonight, the tables are pushed close to the stage, creating an intimate, almost claustrophobic ring where the audience waits with bated breath for the evening's main attraction.
Backstage, the atmosphere is different. It is colder, sharper.
Bendy Darling adjusts his bowtie in the mirror, a sharp, toothy grin splitting his face. His tail flicks behind him like a living thing, betraying a restless energy that his polished, charming exterior tries to hide. He checks his gloves, smoothing them over his ink black hands. He looks like a star, but his eyes hold the hungry glint of a predator who has already smelled the blood in the water. "Remember," he murmurs, his voice dripping with theatrical bravado, "we play the part. We dazzle 'em, we distract 'em, and then we close the trap."
Beside him, Alice Angel is the picture of poised elegance. She runs a hand through her hair, ensuring not a single strand obscures the dainty horns hidden beneath. Her halo gleams under the dim lights, casting an angelic glow that makes her appear harmless, almost divine. But her fingers linger near the concealed compartment where she keeps her tools, and her gaze is fixed on the crowd specifically, scanning the tables for two particular faces. "Leave the theatrics to you, Bendy," she purrs, her voice smooth as silk but edged with steel. "I'll handle the charm."
In the shadows behind them, a towering silhouette shifts. Boris stands like a wall of silent ink, his large frame nearly swallowed by the darkness of the wings. He doesn't speak; he doesn't need to. His pale eyes track the movement of the waitstaff and the patrons, his protective instincts already coiled tight. He is the silent observer, the one who will make sure that once the music starts, there is no escape.
The lights dim. The crowd roars. The spotlight cuts through the haze, landing squarely on the stage as the trio emerges. Bendy saunters toward the piano with a wink and a swagger that could melt hearts, Alice glides forward with a smile that promises heaven, and the hunt begins.
