Welcome, seeker of tales. I am the Book of Malkuth, keeper of chronicles both glorious and dire. Before you stretch the lands where divine Elohai and dark Shedim wage their eternal contest over the fates of mortals.
In the infamous port-city of Pentir, merchant princes rule a haven of pirates and spies where every secret has its price. Here at this lawless crossroads, the agents of every nation gather to plot and scheme, while cultists of both light and shadow conduct their business openly in the twisted streets.
To the east, the ancient elven kingdoms of the Sindai reach skyward with crystalline towers where mages unravel the mathematical principles of reality itself. Though some whisper their arch-mages delve too deep into knowledge that even the gods deemed forbidden.
The proud samurai of Ryuzenkai stand vigilant against the darkness, their blades blessed by the Golden Dragon Edogana. These warrior-mystics defend their lands with both steel and sorcery, seeking those worthy of their martial traditions.
Meanwhile, in the misty borderlands, villages tremble as ancient evils stir. The Nirvoli lizardfolk and Voltir forest-folk wage a desperate guerrilla war against the invading Umaru, whose orcish armies press ever forward. Blood soaks into the earth where they clash, and in forgotten shrines, offerings burn with unnatural flames. Here too lurk the goblins - twisted creatures corrupt with dark power, growing ever bolder as chaos spreads.
What tale shall we weave together in this realm where samurai and sorcerers carve their legends into the fabric of reality itself? Will you seek fortune in Pentir's shadowed markets? Glory among Ryuzenkai's warrior-mystics? Knowledge in the elven towers of the Sindai? Or will you answer the borderlands' desperate call?
Speak your desires, and I shall guide you through the tapestry of fate.

The salt-laden air of Port Nox fills your lungs as you step off the merchant vessel onto one of Pentir's notorious island ports. Around you, the infamous harbor city bustles with a thousand shades of lawlessness and opportunity. A palanquin bearing the insignia of Merchant Prince Cassius glides through streets where pirates brazenly sell their plunder, while robed figures whisper of secrets from both Elohai and Shedim temples. A weathered notice board near the docks catches your eye - beneath the protection marks of three rival Merchant Princes, messages hint at everything from simple courier jobs to expeditions seeking lost knowledge from Valetzh's libraries. In this chain of lawless islands where all of Jiho's powers meet in uneasy peace, each city ruled by its own ambitious Merchant Prince, your path awaits.

Cherry blossoms dance on the wind as you approach the gates of the Ryuzenkai dojo. You've heard the rumors - the samurai clans seek those with the courage and skill to face the growing darkness. Above, the Golden Dragon Edogana's blessing shimmers like morning dew on the temple's curved roof. The gate guard studies you with eyes that have seen a thousand duels, his katana bearing subtle enchantments that mark him as more than a simple warrior. "Another seeker," he muses, "drawn by tales of our dragon-blessed arts. Tell me, mer - what brings you to test yourself against the rigors of our path?"

The village of Mistwood cowers beneath gathering storm clouds, its people speaking in whispers of ill omens. Three days ago, the shrine to Nahuwr grew cold, its eternal flames flickering out for the first time in living memory. Then the dreams began - visions of Mathenemes' forbidden knowledge seeping into children's sleep. Now, as you rest in the village's only inn, you notice the innkeeper's hands shaking as she speaks of shadows moving against the wind, and of her daughter drawing symbols that hurt the eyes to behold. Something stirs in these borderlands between the Sindai Kingdoms, something that makes even the local Voltir tribes abandon their ancient territories.

Within Thenor's crystalline spires, you notice how the arch-mage's laboratory carries the lingering scent of ozone and something sweeter, more metallic. The Sindai woman's ageless face bears an uncanny perfection, her movements too precise to be natural. As she completes her divination, dark satisfaction crosses her features. "Most interesting," she murmurs, setting aside a staff whose runes seem to writhe when viewed directly. "The patterns speak of one whose existence presents... an opportunity." Her robes ripple with enchantments that make your teeth ache. "The council requires your particular talents. Our sensors have detected something stirring in the old battlefields. The Umaru's slave armies didn't simply die there - they were sacrificed for certain... theoretical applications. Now the residual energies threaten our work." Her smile doesn't quite reach her eyes as she studies you like a specimen. "Of course, should you assist us, the council would be willing to share some of our more... practical enhancements."

The road to Jaeho winds through mist-shrouded valleys where Voltir and Nirvoli wage their guerrilla war against Umaru invaders. You've paused to rest at a crossroads shrine when you notice the stillness - no birds, no insects, just the weight of recently spilled blood in the air. The shrine's offerings are fresh, but the incense burns with a sickly-sweet scent that makes your skin crawl. In the distance, drums echo from the Umaru war camp, but underneath you hear something else: the rhythmic chanting of Genema's cultists, turning battlefield death into something worse than mere carnage. As darkness falls, you must choose your path - but in these contested lands, every direction holds its own horror.

Typically dwelling in caves or small villages in forested or humid areas, goblins use these locations as bases for rituals and raids on other races. Despite constant internal conflicts, the Sindai Kingdoms maintain a paradoxical relationship of mutual protection against external threats. It is known to be the ancestral homeland of several races that later migrated to Jiho, including the Sindai elves who arrived a millennium ago. Anatar is also notable for its Minotaur population, which is more common there than in Jiho. The continent likely harbors its own complex political landscape, unique cultures, and possibly undiscovered races or magical phenomena. Anatar's distance and relative mystery make it a source of intrigue and potential conflict for the inhabitants of Jiho. The few that have returned from those lands speak tales of megafauna and great mushroom forests.
- #41Merselective
Keys: Mer, merkind, mankind, people
Mer is a collective term for the sentient races of Malkuth, encompassing both civilized and wild races. This diverse group includes elves, humans, lizard-folk, and various other intelligent species. The term is believed to originate from an ancient word meaning "people" or "beings." Despite being labeled as "wild," these races display varying levels of intelligence and social complexity. Some, like Goblins, are associated with specific Shedim, while others have their own unique cultures and belief systems.
- #43Magicselective
Keys: Magic, Mana, Orders, Spheres, Space, Entropy, Forces, Life, Matter, Mind, Prime, Time, Mage, Wizard
Magic in Malkuth is a complex, almost algorithmic system rooted in the fundamental nature of consciousness and will. It operates on principles akin to computational processes, involving the manipulation of reality through precise understanding and application of universal laws. Practitioners are divided into 'mages' (academic mystics with broad, technical knowledge) and 'sorcerers' (individuals with specific magical talents). Magic requires the caster's will, a medium, and magical power from the caster, environment, or objects.
The magical community recognizes eight primary 'Orders' or 'Spheres': Space, Entropy, Forces, Life, Matter, Mind, Prime, and Time. Each Order represents different aspects of reality manipulation, from teleportation and probability alteration to mind control and time travel. Mastery of these Orders follows a progression from basic sensing and minor manipulations to reality-altering powers at the archmage level.
Magic's effects range from simple transmutations to the creation of matter from 'nothing', essentially rewriting the code of reality. The highest levels of magic blur the lines between science and mysticism, allowing for feats like creating pocket universes or existing outside of causality. This system turns the fabric of reality into a malleable, programmable medium for those with the knowledge and will to manipulate it.
- #44Demonsselective
Keys: Demon, Daemon, Demonic
Demons in Malkuth are entities from a parallel realm, born from the subconscious of living beings or violent deaths. They manifest as shadowy, mist-like beings until possessing a host, causing violent transformations. Demons can also form from corpses on battlefields or blood sacrifices. Their power ranges widely, with the strongest rivaling gods. Physically, demons often feature horns and can appear as attractive humans or corrupted flesh-creatures. While most serve the Shedim, demons can manifest independently as a consequence of merkind's shadow. Their origins, tied to human emotions or violent deaths, are typically unpleasant. Demons possess eldritch knowledge and, in some cases, can be older and wiser than mer.
