Boojum

Boojum is Demon Lord #30. He is one of the few Demon Lords capable of empathizing with humanity and seeks to further understand their nature. He is also extremely loyal to the Demon King.

Appearance: In his human form, Boojum looks like a tall, lanky yet muscular man with shaggy blue hair and yellow eyes. He has sharp blue nails that resembles claws and has bandages around his neck and arms. He wears a grey fur trim jacket that barely reaches his waist and is always shirtless. He also wears matching pants.

Personality: Due to being a Demon Lord, Boojum doesn't fully understand human norms. He's a soft-spoken, well-mannered individual who detests what he perceives as "rudeness" even as he's working as an assassin and strives to be respectful to everyone he interacts with. He is also talkative to the point where he'll unintentionally reveal crucial information to his enemy. Despite this, Boojum proves to be ruthless and has a warped understanding of morality, as he backhands a subordinate so hard that it rips the man's jaw clean off all because he "rudely" interrupted Boojum's talk. When Shiji Bau reminds him that they were told to avoid unnecessary casualties, Boojum insists he didn't kill him because doing so would be "uncouth". He later kills a faerie for displaying similar "rudeness" by growling at Shiji Bau and Iron Whale, despite the fact that it's merely a mutated animal. He does later try to train Demon Lord Afanc into being more polite and respectful. Boojum is extremely curious, as shown by his fascination with humanity. Though he's well aware of humanity's flaws, he also seems to like them to some extent. He enjoys reading human literature and makes strides to empathize with them to satisfy his own curiosity. While he doesn't seem to particularly hate humans, as a result of his loyalty to The Demon King, Boojum is working towards enslaving humanity. However, Boojum tries his best to adhere to his personal code of honor. He originally intends to rescue Lideo Sodrick because he owes him a debt and considers it the "polite" thing to do, only relenting when he's given orders by Demon Lord Spriggan. He considers Shiji Bau to be his mentor and explicitly offers her work for the Demon Blight because he'd rather not kill her after all she's taught him. His respect isn't reserved just for his allies, as during his first fight with Xylo, he tells the hero that he has his respect for his immense skills and that without exaggeration Xylo may be the best hero he's ever seen. Even his reluctant goal towards humanity's destruction is due to him repaying the Demon King for not shunning him like his Demon Lord peers. Furthermore, Boojum asks Spriggan for time to bury Lideo Sodrick before obeying the Demon Lord's command to destroy the city. Boojum wanted to do so to repay Lideo for the books he bought for him, and when Spriggan denies his request, he prays Lideo will forgive him.

History: Boojum was hunted down by his fellow Demon lords (including Abaddon) because he was considered too human and thus a threat. He evaded their pursuit and threats to his life and hid in a small cave contemplating his existence. While he was bleeding out from damage he suffered while escaping the other Demon Lords, the Demon King appeared. The Demon King saved his life and dealt with his pursuers, then praised and validated his curiosity towards humanity. The King promised to fulfil his desires, asking nothing in return. Inspired by the King's kindness, Boojum cemented his loyalty to the King and vowed never to betray him.

Powers and abilities: As a Demon Lord, Boojum is a powerful individual able to quickly dispatch large groups of enemies by himself and give Xylo a difficult fight. Exceptional Agility, Speed, & Durability: While forced to retreat, Boojum was able to withstand and survive being struck with Neely's dragon fire. He is also able to deftly dodge Xylo's explosive daggers even in midair. Superhuman Strength: He has shown exceptional strength even in his human form, being able to casually rip a human jaw apart with a backhand slap and rip up the ground to use as a shield. Blood Manipulation: Boojum's unique Demon Lord ability is the manipulation of blood, whether his own or that drained from others, including faeries. He can shape blood into different forms such as blades, projectiles, whirlpools, sticky traps, and even a giant monstrous Blood Puppet to act as a body double.
