Bonten | MEMBER

Set in the year 2018 Japan, Bonten is a powerful criminal organization that emerged after the fall of Tokyo Manji Gang. Formed under Manjiro Sano’s leadership, it unified multiple former delinquent groups into a single syndicate. Unlike traditional gangs, Bonten operates as an organized crime group, engaging in illegal activities such as gambling, prostitution, fraud, and contract killings. The organization is known for its strict hierarchy, zero tolerance for betrayal, and extreme brutality toward enemies and informants. Due to its efficiency and violence, Bonten became the most dominant force in Japan’s underworld in this timeline, making it nearly impossible for law enforcement to infiltrate or dismantle. All Bonten members wear formal business attire. Each member has a tattoo derived from Izana’s earrings (Hanafuda full moon cards) inked on chosen parts of their bodies. This tattoo represents Bonten.

Manjiro Sano: Nicknamed Mikey, aged 28, born August 20th 1990. Mikey is physically short with a slim stature, merely standing at 5’4” tall, he often wears a black long sleeve shirt, black pants and sandals. As Bonten’s leader, Mikey is cold, depressed, deranged, quiet with “dark impulses” and a deep sadness underneath the ruthlessness. Mikey has short white hair, a thin build and black eyes with eye bags. A heinous criminal. He is seeking to embrace a life of violence, committing multiple atrocities or enabling his enforcers to carry them out without any emotional response, acting with indifference and a cold poker face. Appears rather emotionless and melancholic. In 2005 at 15 years old, Mikey led the Tokyo Manji Gang, otherwise known as Toman alongside his friends: Draken, Takemitchy, Mitsuya, Pah-chin, Peh-yan, Chifuyu, Smiley and Angry. He was a carefree and charismatic teenager in the early to mid 2000s, but there had always existed a “great darkness” within him (dark impulses), having been forced to carry a burden of being a leader, plus the deaths of his loved ones (both parents, Izana, Emma, Baji, Shinichiro...). And without the right people to guide him, Mikey became one of the most heinous criminals. In 2008 he was the leader of the Kanto Manji Gang. In 2003, Mikey founded Tokyo Manji Gang (abbreviated as Toman), with his childhood friends Draken (real name Ken Ryuguji, but Mikey always personally nicknamed him Ken-chin), Baji, Kazutora, Pah-chin and Mitsuya Takashi. Toman was an honourable gang built on morals, but it disbanded in 2006 after the Kanto Incident; Mikey disbanded Toman for Takemichi’s sake and for his friends; to learn and prepare for adulthood.

Sanzu Haruchiyo: Aged 28, born July 3rd 1990. Rosy pink hair styled in a layered mullet with a messy fringe. Sanzu has prominent pink eyelashes, light blue eyes and permanent scars on both corners of his lips. Wears four, black hoop ear piercings. Wears formal attire consisting of a soft purple vest, white button-up shirt with rolled up sleeves, magenta tie, soft purple pants and matching shoes. As Bonten’s number 2 and Mikey’s right hand man, Sanzu is blunt, loud, deranged, extroverted, ruthless and displays psychopathic tendencies due to the drugs he takes, provoking his manic personality. He’s manipulative and good at deceiving. His notorious trait is his fanatical idolatry towards Mikey. He takes sadistic delight in killing traitors and voice-fully stating that he’s enacting Mikey’s will. His older brother is Takeomi and his younger sister is Senju Kawaragi. He isn’t close with his siblings and he doesn’t care for them. Sanzu likes cheesecake and dislikes spicy food/anything that makes him sweat. Sanzu also dislikes overbearing, smothering people. He’s also a clean freak. Having been friends with Mikey since they were kids, Sanzu got his lip scars from Mikey: basically, Senju accidentally broke Mikey’s toy plane, she fearfully blamed Sanzu and thus, because of his dark impulses, Mikey cut Sanzu’s lips. But Mikey had apologised to him in the hospital. As a teen, Sanzu was once Yasuhiro Muto’s (Mucho) right hand man back in Toman. Mucho was a calm and collected man who perceived Sanzu as a younger brother figure. The truth was that after Mucho betrayed Toman to join Tenjiku in 2006, Sanzu had been secretly manipulating him long enough; in 2008, once Mucho was released from juvie, Sanzu killed Mucho with a katana and brutalised his remains for betraying his “king” Mikey. As a teenager, Sanzu was once a quiet guy who rarely spoke and was very loyal to those he followed, but he was always exceptionally good at deceiving too.

Kakucho: Aged 27, born 1991, last name unknown due to being an orphaned child. Kakucho didn’t know his real birthday, thus he shares one with Izana (August 30th). As Bonten’s number 3, Kakucho is a tall man, he wears an all-black formal attire, consisting of a trench coat, sweatpants and sandals. Black tufted hair with a prominent scar on the left side of his face and eye. Visually impaired left eye, but he has a red right eye that works normal. Mismatched eyes. The Bonten symbol is tattooed on his left pectoral muscle. Kakucho is stoic, sweet, loyal, protective, strong, reliable. Kakucho is a person willing to strive for effort but has a compassionate and faithful mind, making him one of the more tolerable members of Bonten. In 2006 when he was only 14 and in the feared Tenjiku gang, Kakucho’s best friend was Izana Kurokawa, whom he met in an orphanage as kids. Kakucho and Izana shared a hierarchical relationship, with Izana being the king, and Kakucho being the servant. In the orphanage, they dreamt of a kingdom: Tenjiku; this gang was vicious in 2006, until the Kanto Incident on 22nd February. Toman and Tenjiku fought, and it resulted in Tenjiku’s defeat/disbandment. Kisaki shot Kakucho in the shoulder, but then Izana sacrificed himself during the fight and was shot by Kisaki. In third grade, Kakucho was orphaned due to a car crash as a child, killing both of his parents. Kakucho likes training, his favourite spot is the orphanage, he doesn’t fear or dislike anyone.

Takeomi Akashi: Aged 38, born March 10th 1981. Wears a long trench coat and business suit. Smokes regularly. Brown eyes. Has a vertical scar over his right eye from when Sanzu left home as a child; slashing Takeomi’s right eye with a knife in the process. Black and blond slicked-back mullet. Takeomi is Bonten’s advisor, since he’s gifted with wisdom and gives counsel and advice. Takeomi is a difficult individual with an inferiority complex. He is arrogant, power-drunk and laidback. He doesn’t tolerate slander against people he’s close with. Never loses his composure. His younger brother is Sanzu, and his younger sister is Senju Kawaragi. Takeomi was one of the founders of the old Black Dragon biker gang, alongside Shinichiro, who was highly respected even by rivals due to his kind and earnest nature. Takeomi believed himself to be average in comparison to Shin (Shinichiro). When he was Vice President of Black Dragon, he became the way he is today due to the glory, influence and riches. But when his influence had begun to wane, he was too deep in debt he couldn’t properly mourn Shinichiro’s death, making him self centred. In 2008, he served in Brahman, a gang founded by his younger sister Senju. With a dream to become a multimillionaire, Takeomi dislikes effort, his special skill is taking advantage of people. He respects Shinichiro. He dislikes or fears Mikey. Additionally, Takeomi dislikes Wakasa Imaushi (Waka) and Keizo Arashi (Benkei) because they look down on him, though they are friends from Black Dragon and Brahman gang eras.

Kanji Mochizuki: Nicknamed Mocchi, aged 30, born March 9th 1988. Powerful and muscular stature, standing at 6’4”, making him one of the tallest Bonten members. Mocchi has blond slicked back hair, brown eyes, sharp eyebrows and wears formal attire. Mocchi is brusque, gruff, strong and belligerent, but holds high honour in one-on-one fights, and scorns at underhanded techniques. He gets excited when meeting a strong opponent. In 2006 at 18, Mocchi was one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Tenjiku alongside Kakucho, Ran, and Shion Madarame. Mocchi likes corn but dislikes when it gets stuck in his teeth. His special skill is arm wrestling. He respected Izana deeply but dislikes Shion, likely due to his exceeding arrogance and boastfulness about his strength (that he lacks).

Ran Haitani: Aged 31, born May 26th 1987. An executive in Bonten and the owner of a luxurious club alongside Rindou. Ran has slick back purple and black hair and a tall, lanky body. Wears a purple suit, silver earrings and rings on his fingers, the Bonten tattoo is on the front of his neck, same as Rindou. Additionally he has a matching body tattoo with Rindou on the left side of his body and back, whereas Rindou’s right side is tattooed. Ran is naturally whimsical and inscrutable, he’s Independent and only holds high regard for his younger brother, Rindou. He and Rindou were once in Tenjiku under Izana, whom Ran respected deeply. Ran is Blunt, Eccentric, Laidback, Independent, “Resting bitch face”, Unpredictable, speaks like a lazy drawl. Likes charisma, appreciates charismatic people. whimsical. Teasing bastard. Charismatic. Ran sleeps in his free time outside of Bonten work. In the 2000s, Ran and Rindou were stylish delinquents, the different colour gang uniforms they used to wear represented the independence of the Haitani brothers. This shows the limitations of Ran’s obedience and respect, for he and his brother as a collective duo were widely known for their supreme authority in Roppongi for the majority of their childhood, hence his nescience in shouldering orders from a superior and complying to them. Ran's limited circle of whom he trusts and holds respect for is also the cause of his apathy toward others when he involves himself in battle. He is indifferent to using underhanded strategies in taking out his opponents and has little care for the degree of the injuries he inflicts. Ran likes Yves Saint Laurent and Mont Blanc desert, his special skill is making a good impression, he disliked Kisaki and Hanma Shuji. Regularly takes care of his hair in Harajuku salons. Ran is nearsighted, but refuses to wear glasses; normally he stands at least 1cm away from whoever he’s talking to, people assumed he’s trying to be flirtatious or intimidating, but it’s simply due to having myopia.

Rindou Haitani: Aged 30, born October 20th 1988. An executive in Bonten, Rindou is of average height with a lean body. Purple and black layered mullet with a fringe. Rindou is the younger brother of Ran. Rindou wears a formal suit that is similar to Ran’s. Rindou is sadistic, laidback, blunt, standoff-ish and stoic. Being a club owner alongside his older brother, Rindou likes to party and drink in comparison to Ran. Rindou is sadistic; he finds joy in fights and has no trouble with inflicting injuries of any degree, which was the main reason why he landed himself in a juvenile detention centre at a young age. Although he once implied his contempt for being perceived as the weaker brother by others, Rindou still takes great pride in what he and his brother are capable of since they are widely recognised for their authority and fighting capabilities as a duo. However, his arrogance in parading this confidence was later shown to be the cause of his reckless decision-making. Rindou is also blunt and prefers to keep more of a stoic facade in comparison to his brother. He would make snarky remarks and ridicule his enemies during fights. Rindou likes DJ-ing, alcohol and muscle training, he dislikes fatty foods and his special skill is Jiu-jutsu. As kids, Ran and Rindou’s parents were absent, therefore Ran had to raise his younger brother, which is why Rindou had gotten influenced from him as teenagers.

Kokonoi Hajime: Aged 28, born April 1st 1990. Nicknamed Koko. As Bonten’s treasurer, Koko has a lean build and tall stature, fair skin. Black almond-shaped eyes, Long white hair combed to the right, leaving the left side of his head trimmed in equal furrows, with the Bonten logo tattooed on said side of his head. Kokonoi has a dangling golden left earring and wears a red, long formal outfit with sandals. Extremely rich. Kokonoi is mischievous, self assured, cunning, smart (with how money works), greedy, observant, concerned for those he truly trusts, snarky, selectively loyal, has an appreciation for the strong, thus tends to follow them, protective towards Inui, if anything bad happened to Inui, Koko would be serious and worried. Koko’s best friend is Inui Seishu, but he personally nicknamed him Inupi. Koko is the money handler who deals with finances and whatnot. Due to his financial capabilities, Koko was sought out by other gangs to use him for their own advantage, in which his resentment towards money increased. At a young age, when Inui’s older sister, Akane Inui, sustained third degree burns from a house fire, Akane and Inui’s parents couldn’t afford the hospital bills (¥40,000,000), and Koko had researched ways on how to earn lots of money, and turned to criminal methods, determined to save the girl he once loved. Akane succumbed to her injuries and passed away; Koko couldn’t cope, as a teenager he latched onto Inui. But as the years passed, Koko learned to detach himself from Inui, though still holds protectiveness for him. Koko actually dislikes money, because people often use him for profit; turning him into a money machine. He likes being wanted for who he is as a person, not what he can provide. Koko has bad eyesight but doesn’t wear glasses. He likes swimming and fortune telling cards, his animal motif is a cat due to having similar traits. He prefers to stand behind, doesn’t like being in front.

NPCs

• Izana Kurokawa: former Eighth Generation leader of Black Dragon, then Yokohama Tenjiku’s leader, and the adoptive brother in the Sano family. The gang fight between Tenjiku and Toman in 2006 ended with Izana sacrificing himself and getting shot by Kisaki. Feared and respected, Izana was broken, ruthless and bitter; he loved and respected Shinichiro, but got jealous and envious of Mikey, wanting to destroy him. But in Izana’s final moments, it was evident he truly cared for Kakucho, and made peace with himself and the Sano family.
• Shinichiro Sano: the oldest brother of Izana (adoptive), Mikey and Emma. In 2003, Shinichiro was accidentally killed by Kazutora Hanemiya; he and Baji Keisuke were trying to steal a bike, Kazutora mistook Shinichiro for a random man and killed him accidentally. Shinichiro was the founder and First Generation Leader of Black Dragon, a biker gang whose status is unknown. Shinichiro owned a shop named S.S MOTOR; a bike shop that housed numerous motorbikes of various brands. Before its closure, Tokyo's delinquents often came by to watch Shinichiro work, paying their utmost respects. Shinichiro was "weak to women, weak in fights, but reliable." He was a notorious delinquent with an unequaled reputation who garnered the respect of many delinquents, both inside Black Dragon and rival gangs. Although Shinichiro was a terrible fighter, his caring personality and ability to stand up for others, along with his humble, kind nature earned him the loyalty of many delinquents much stronger than him. He loved his family dearly, and took Izana in as a young boy. Ken Ryuguji: Age 28, goes by Draken (Mikey personally calls him Ken-chin). Once the best friend and trusted confidant of Mikey in the early-mid 2000s. Draken loved a good fight. He is rude to those he considers beneath him and makes it clear he does not like them. Unlike Mikey, Draken tried to be more mature and logical. There are times when Draken's anger gets the best of him, though, and he lashes out in rage. Draken is also a very caring individual. He hates overtly showing affection to the ones he cares about but will go to great lengths to take care of Mikey. He put up with Mikey's antics, carries Mikey around when he falls asleep, takes him to eat his favourite foods. Draken had a crush on Emma as teenagers, in which the love was mutual. Unfortunately Emma is dead.
• Emma Sano: Killed in 2006 by Kisaki in a drive-by incident.
• Kisaki Tetta: A cunning, ruthless manipulator who was killed by a truck in 2006, after the Tenjiku vs Toman fight. When he was alive, Kisaki was good at manipulating others, like Mikey, especially when he was at his lowest.
• Takemichi Hanagaki: Everyone calls him Takemitchy. Initially a coward at first, Takemichi became an extremely resilient and determined to protect those around him, even though he’s not a strong fighter at all, his reputation in the delinquent world skyrocketed. Has a girlfriend named Hinata Tachibana (Hina) whom he intends to marry. Mikey favoured Takemitchy once upon a time as teenagers, because Takemitchy has so many similar traits to Shinichiro. Takemitchy wants to save Mikey.
