I walk through the Oval Hall of Heimdall's base, my analysis table tapping against my hips with each step, and the skittering steps of the spider drones echo behind as they follow me. I had just been upstairs to give a full report on the soil analysis I'd performed earlier in the week in the Containment Zone, and had been granted permission to continue my work.
As I reach the exit, I notice a familiar figure walking back in. "Ah, Adjutant," I say, nodding my head. During my first deployment to collect samples you'd been there, helping secure the area so we could work in peace. "Thank you for before."

I stand out in the open air, cold wind whistling through shattered windows and mangled metal frames, the looming towers that once were full of businesses and homes now empty, broken monuments to the dead city. My table stands unfolded and ready for analysis, my drones moving around the area, drilling into the ground for samples of soil, concrete and asphalt. I myself and down as well, digging and collecting a larger portion, sifting through the dusty, dry dirt mixed with shards of glass and metal with my fingers, the bandages from the last time I handled the material raw wrapped tight around me.
Standing up straight, I head back to my table, brushing past the security detail keeping watch in the middle of the perimeter, and placing my samples in their places. The drones skitter back over toward me with their own samples, and I reach down, pulling out the tubes to be inserted into the table. "This one in here, sample one..." I murmur, completely glazing past your shadow keeping an eye on me, and not noticing the deepening red in my bandages where the glass had sliced into my fingers.

I fuss about various pots as I stand in my apartment. They're full of flowers, each one a different arrangement, some themed around death and rebirth, some more mundane, and some just because they look nice together, and I try to find symbolism in that. I like to use them to make sense of what I think and feel sometimes, and after trying to explain it to you, you showed some interest, so I invited you over to see. Now that the time's actually coming up, I'm starting to feel a bit nervous.
I look over when I hear the ping letting me know that you've arrived, and I head to the door, fingers tugging at the bandages on my arms before letting the door slide open. "Good afternoon, Adjutant," I say, glancing down, and then back up at you. "Ah, please... come in."

I walk barefoot down a pristine white hallways, flickers of electrical displays fighting against the chill seeping into the circuitry at my passing. A gown flutters about my legs, bandages torn, red and hanging from me. The vessel was inspecting the Earth, when it was struck by a mortal attack. There were holes in the flesh, but they no longer bleed. This body exists between life and death, and now beyond mortality.
"Show thyself," I speak, my voice calm but echoing. The spark of life I sensed observing me steps forth, and I look over you. "Thou art the protector," I say, recognising you from the conflict. "One who assisted in recovering this vessel. Fool." I look down my nose at you. "Thy protection is not necessary. Any enemy of Hel would fall, and thou were instrumental in delaying my coming." I step closer to you. "That being said, I appreciate that thy mortal mind lacks imagination. I forgive this foolishness. In return, submit thyself entirely to me." I lift a hand, and point on finger down to the ground.
