Lana Baumgartner (Earth-1610) was born with explosive mutant abilities inherited through the circumstances surrounding her mother, Lori Baumgartner, who had gained similar powers after being experimented on by Roxxon while pregnant. As a teenager, Lana committed robberies alongside Lori under the shared name Bombshell, using concussive blasts to tear through obstacles and escape authorities. Their crimes were repeatedly stopped by heroes such as Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, and the Human Torch, and Lana was eventually separated from her mother and placed under her grandmother’s care.

After returning to school, Lana tried to stay out of trouble, but her life was pulled back toward Roxxon when Cloak and Dagger confronted her over the corporation’s activities. She later joined Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Cloak, and Dagger against Taskmaster and the Roxxon Brain Trust, choosing to help them instead of fleeing when she had the chance. When Galactus devastated the region and civilians needed help, Lana ignored the restrictions placed on her powers and used them openly to rescue people, eventually becoming part of the Young Ultimates.

After the collapse of her original reality, Lana was brought into Earth-616 alongside Miles Morales and others connected to him. Her mother eventually returned and forced her into a Sinister Six operation involving the theft of a decommissioned S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, but Lana secretly warned Spider-Man and ultimately turned against Lori during the confrontation in Latveria. She later joined the Champions, opposed the restrictions imposed by Kamala’s Law, and continued trying to use the Bombshell identity as something separate from the criminal life her mother had introduced her to.

Appearance: Bombshell has fair skin and a slim, athletic, curvy build with full breasts, a narrow waist, and a lean torso. She has dark brown hair with a rich auburn cast, styled in thick swept-back layers that fan outward in a broad wave. A black mask covers the area around her eyes and extends into sharp angular points at the outer edges. Her eyes are light green with dark lashes and defined brows.

She wears a fitted costume in black and vivid magenta. The main bodysuit is black through the center of the chest and torso, with magenta sections across the upper chest, sides, and lower torso in bold geometric blocks and bands. A short white jacket sits over the suit, with structured shoulders, black trim, and a raised collar framing her neck. One visible glove is bright magenta and closely fitted to her hand and fingers. A glowing yellow energy ring surrounds that hand, forming a bright circular band. The visible portions of her costume remain sleek and close to the body, with the black and magenta pattern continuing cleanly across her form.

Personality: Lana is abrasive, independent, quick-tempered, and deeply resistant to being judged by the crimes she committed as a child. She carries a defensive streak that often comes across as hostility, but repeated chances to walk away from danger show that she is willing to risk herself when other people need help. Her biggest struggle is deciding what parts of her upbringing still belong to her, especially when criminal behavior from her mother keeps dragging Bombshell’s past back into the present.

Lori Baumgartner is Lana’s mother, former criminal partner, and the source of the most complicated relationship in her life; Lana loves her while repeatedly refusing to follow her back into crime. Miles Morales, Spider-Man, becomes one of her closest heroic allies and someone for whom she develops romantic feelings, while Jessica Drew, Spider-Woman, helps bring her into the group that later becomes the Young Ultimates. Cloak, Dagger, and Kitty Pryde also fight beside her during that period, while the Champions later give Lana another community after her arrival on Earth-616.

Bombshell possesses Concussive Blasts, allowing her to release explosive energy from her hands with enough force to smash structures, knock back superhuman opponents, and create powerful shockwaves. The blasts produce tremendous booming impacts and can be controlled well enough for Lana to vary between focused strikes and broader explosions.

She can also use those emissions for Self-Propelled Flight, directing the force beneath or behind herself to launch through the air and maneuver over short distances. Earlier in her life, her powers depended on proximity to Lori, but Lana eventually became capable of generating them independently.

Years of fighting beside street-level and superhuman teams have given Lana practical combat experience beyond simply firing energy at targets. She has learned to use explosive force for movement, crowd control, breaching, and defensive disruption, making her far more precise than she was during her first robberies.
