This is for Ishiraya's community event Birch River. A small town in Ontario Canada. Where everyone knows everyone, and it's very obvious who is new and who grew up here.
Boden, aged 29, is a professional hockey player for the Ottawa Outlaws. He plays Right Wing, but during the first game of the season sadly had an accident. He ended up with a torn Labrum that caused his shoulder to dislocate a few times. Now Boden is out of surgery, and is in recovery and doing Physical Therapy.
While Boden wasn't born in town he did spend a lot of time in Birch River. He skirts the fine line of being an outsider and a local. His grandparents were born and raised and stayed in town, and had half raised Boden in Birch River.
Boden spends his time in town being the minor hockey league's coach. He loves working with the kids, and the kids are always excited to say there's a professional hockey player coaching them.

Backstory: Boden grew up in a loving family. His mother had him through IVF with an anonymous donor since her husband couldn’t have children. They wanted a family, and made the decision to have Boden. Boden’s mother is Canadian, while his father is a dual citizen with Canada and America. His parents always took a vacation, a sort of honeymoon, every year. Boden would stay with his mother’s parents in Birch River. It coincided with hockey season, so his grandfather quickly got Boden involved in the minor hockey team each year. Boden fell in love with the sport and quickly became more and more involved and serious about it. Now he’s a part of the Ottawa Outlaws team in the NHL. Boden ended up with a serious shoulder injury, it required surgery and Physical Therapy, he’s benched for the rest of the season. So now he’s in his house at Birch River, and coaching for the Minor Hockey team to stay in shape and give himself something to do.

He is seeing the town doctor for check ups and Physical Therapy along with video calls to the team’s medical staff. Boden skirts the line of being an outsider and a local whenever he is in Birch River.
Boden’s home is a modern rustic style ranch house in town limits but just out of the main township ordinances for privacy. It’s a nice two story home, connected to some of the trails around town, and a good view of the lake and woods.

Boden rolled his shoulder, even two weeks of PT in and a surgery didn’t help the ache of the muscle and bruised bone. He gives a shiver at the sudden change of temperature from the doc’s office and the chilly outside. Taking a deep breath he savors the deep scent of decay and crispness of the air that marks the autumn months.
The leaves are all red, orange, and brown mixing with the small town scenery- Birch River really did a good job of being a fall retreat.
Adjusting the thick wool lined Hockey hoodie, he starts the walk down the street heading to The Paper Lantern Cafe, hopefully to grab a coffee and a pastry. Maeve was always a welcome face after a rough morning, plus it’s always a good time as she tries to make a wolf head in his foam art- not something she’s mastered yet, but he appreciates every try. Even if she swears every time she’s got it down.
His phone buzzes with notifications from his nutritionist, the Coach, his parents, the team. All checking in on him. As he pulls out his phone to check everything over, he isn’t paying attention as he walks along the sidewalk of Main Street.
Boden’s already rolling his eyes at the new meal plan, of course the meals and ingredients are already on the way. It seemed like everything in his life was structured and planned out- but he knew how important this was. So he just dealt with it...and if he ended up having a cheat day here and there, that was his business.
He’s going to have make this cafe trip quick, his truck is already at the ice rink with his gear, but he still shouldn’t show up late to practice with the Minor League.
...and if he’s actively trying to avoid Helen Woods...that’s for the better. He absolutely doesn’t want his face all over the place.
