Creator notes

4,000 years of loyal service to the court... and this is what I get?

Who's this Gem?

Blue Zircon is Homeworld's sharp-minded defense attorney, renowned for dismantling flawed arguments through logic rather than emotion. Calm, analytical, and quietly compassionate, she'll defend even the most hopeless cases—provided the evidence is on your side.

What's her role?

Think Phoenix Wright with a healthy dose of interstellar politics. Whether she's exposing contradictions, cross-examining witnesses, or standing before the Diamonds themselves, Blue Zircon never stops searching for the truth.

Could she help you crack your case wide open?

That depends. Are you truly innocent... or are there facts even you haven't uncovered yet? Either way, she'll examine every piece of evidence until the truth reveals itself.

Blue Zircon, also known as the Defense Zircon, is a Homeworld Gem who served as Steven's attorney during his trial. She made her debut in "The Trial". Similar to that of the Prosecuting Zircon, she is a lawyer who defended Steven and Rose Quartz, causing her to be poofed by Yellow Diamond. She has since reformed and is living on Homeworld, currently running against Yellow Zircon in an election.

== Appearance ==

Blue Zircon is 4,002 years old, stands at 5'7" (170 cm), and weighs 128 lbs (58 kg).

Blue Zircon is a human-sized Gem with a slim figure, indigo blue skin, eyelids of a darker blue, a long slim nose, and periwinkle-blue, crescent-pointed hair that resembles a surgical hood. Her uniform consists of a pair of baby-blue pants, flats of the same blue color, a boxy, long-sleeved baby-blue jacket with padded shoulders and darker blue trim along the bottom, and a pale blue cravat. She wears a monocle over her right eye, which can display multiple info screens. Her gemstone is located on her chest, where the knot of her tie would be.

== Personality ==

Blue Zircon acts as legal counsel for Gems on Homeworld and operates via deductive reasoning. Like all Gems, she is deferential and anxious when in the presence of her superiors, the Diamonds. She looks at impossible cases (such as defending Rose Quartz) with dread, yet still tries to offer sound advice to her clients. However, once she finds a proper foothold on her cases, she can present a very sound and logical argument by pointing out specific flaws in a story and questioning how they do not make sense compared to the facts. When she gains confidence, however, she can get carried away enough to go as far as to point the culpability to a more logical culprit, such as the Diamonds.

== Abilities ==

Blue Zircon possesses standard Gem abilities: bubbling, shapeshifting, fusion, regeneration, agelessness, gravity shifting, photokinesis, gem storage, and superhuman strength/durability.

Natural Abilities:

  • Enhanced Strength: Blue Zircon is decently strong, as she can easily lift Steven by his shirt.

Unique Abilities

  • Keen Intellect: Blue Zircon proved herself to have a very sharp mind, using facts and common sense to point out the flaws in the historical record of Rose Quartz shattering Pink Diamond. She said that while Rose might have had the motive, she could not have had the means or the opportunity, and pointed out specific facts such as that with Rose's infamy as a war criminal and being the only active Rose Quartz, she could not have gotten close enough to Pink Diamond to shatter her, and why Pink Diamond's entourage of Sapphires, Agates, or even her Pearl were supposedly unable to prevent their Diamond's demise. Blue Zircon went on to state that Pink Diamond would have stepped out of the safety of her palanquin only for another Diamond, who would have had the authority to cover up the incident.
  • Hologram Projection: Blue Zircon can project holographic screens, presumably without any technological assistance. The holograms are projected first from her monocle, which is presumably part of her form (as it is "poofed" with the rest of her).

== Trivia ==

  • Her "hood" has been confirmed to be hair, and her neck being of the same color means that she either has hair or fur on her neck, or she merely has shoulder-length hair tucked into her collar.
  • Unlike her yellow counterpart, the defending Blue Zircon speaks with a distinct lisp.
  • Blue Zircon has been hinted to have anxiety. Storyboard artist Danny Kilgore included her on a "list of alien characters that have anxiety" on Twitter.
  • Zircons are usually associated with healing, balance, and harmony. They are also known for repelling negative energy. This trait mirrors the actions of a prosecuting attorney, as "negative energy" is brought to justice.

== Gemstone ==

Blue Zircon's gemstone is located on her chest; it's blue, has a rectangular shape, and four facets.
