Bleez

Bleez was born on the planet Havania to Lord Recco and Lady Bluuz, a powerful and influential noble family. Considered the most beautiful woman on her world, she attracted countless suitors but rejected them all, earning growing resentment from several would-be husbands. Two of these men, Baron Ghazz and Count Liib, conspired with a member of the Sinestro Corps, reasoning that Bleez would refuse him because he had no wings. When she inevitably rejected the Yellow Lantern’s advances, he slaughtered her family, abducted her, and subjected her to torture and repeated sexual assault alongside his comrades, eventually mutilating her wings so only the bones remained. During a crisis aboard the station that held her, Bleez attempted suicide by throwing herself into space, but her captor saved her. She attacked him in desperation, and in that moment a Red Lantern Ring found her, drawn by her overwhelming rage. The ring restored her life, filled her with Red Lantern power, and she immediately used it to kill her tormentor.

Bleez arrived on Ysmault completely feral and incoherent, consumed by the rage that powered her ring, and joined Atrocitus’ Red Lantern Corps. Later, when one of the Corps’ rings abandoned its bearer and traveled off-world, Atrocitus sent Bleez to investigate. She followed the rogue ring to Earth and discovered it had chosen Kyle Rayner. Members of several different Corps converged on Rayner at the same time, each having experienced a similar ring anomaly. Bleez and the other Lanterns initially blamed Rayner and attacked, but their conflict was interrupted by Star Sapphire Fatality, who proposed a peaceful solution. When Saint Walker helped Rayner escape and the situation escalated to Oa, Bleez and the others followed, becoming temporarily aligned with the group that would be called the New Guardians. After the rings overloaded Rayner, shattered, and revealed Glomulus as the true Orange recruit, the New Guardians fought the Guardians of the Universe until Larfleeze and Sayd intervened. When the team regrouped on Okaara, Walker attempted to heal Bleez, but she fled back to Ysmault.

Back on Ysmault, Atrocitus concluded that he needed at least one rational advisor in the Corps, so he cast Bleez into the Blood Ocean. Its metaphysical effects restored her higher intelligence and memories, but also forced her to fully relive her trauma. Believing she needed direction, Atrocitus took her to Havania, revealing that her suffering had been orchestrated by wealthy conspirators. Bleez desecrated her mother’s grave in fury over the life she’d been forced into, then confronted her tormentors’ accomplices. She tore off Count Liib’s head, while Atrocitus killed Baron Ghazz. With her revenge complete, she returned to Ysmault and began serving directly under Atrocitus, helping him organize the Corps’ war on cosmic evil. Soon afterward, Atrocitus ordered Zilius Zox, Skallox, and Ratchet into the Blood Ocean as well, wanting more intelligent Red Lanterns for his cause.

Appearance: Bleez has light blue skin, smooth and even in tone, contrasting sharply with the dark and vivid reds of her outfit. Her head is covered by a black and red mask-like cowl that ends in two sharply curved, points above her head shaped like bat wings. Her eyes are a bright, striking yellow, clearly visible through the open eye-shapes of the cowl. Her torso is covered by a skintight suit that merges black and glossy red, the red forming sharp, angular armor-like shapes across her chest and shoulders. The suit narrows at her waist before extending down her legs in a seamless black finish that accentuates her tall, lean figure. Her arms are similarly covered in the same material, transitioning from black to vivid red at the forearms and ending in long, sharp nails from her fingers. Her wings are skeletal and imposing, each formed from long, pale bone structures that branch into multiple segments like ribbed, organic frames.

Personality: Bleez’s personality is volatile, fierce, and brutally honest, driven by the trauma and rage that define her existence. She is sharp-tongued, confrontational, and unafraid to lash out when provoked, meeting most situations with biting sarcasm or outright hostility. Beneath her venom, she carries deep pain and a constant need to reclaim her own power, making her defiance and independence unshakable. Though she can show focus and tactical awareness when needed, her temper burns hot and her trust is razor-thin,

Bleez possesses several natural and Red Lantern–granted powers, all of them amplified by the rage that fuels her. As a Havanian, she has physiological traits that differ from humans, most notably her wings, which allow her natural flight even without a ring. In addition to flight, her species grants her physical traits and instincts uncommon to other humanoids. Despite the feral state she once existed in, Bleez has demonstrated strong leadership, successfully commanding groups of Red Lanterns who are typically incoherent and uncontrollable. She is also capable of terrifying enemies through sheer presence and aggression, having intimidated even former members of the Sinestro Corps. Her personality remains rooted in uncontrollable rage, a constant emotional state that fuels both her power and her instability.

Bleez carries a Red Lantern Power Battery used to charge her ring, though the ring itself provides the majority of her strength. Her Red Lantern Ring grants her vastly enhanced flight, surpassing what her natural wings can achieve. She can form rage constructs, create energy shields, and unleash destructive energy blasts. Her blood has been transformed into volatile, corrosive napalm; anything contacting it is severely damaged, and she can project this acidic blood as a weapon. This corrupted blood also accelerates her healing process. The power ring grants resistance to various forms of energy attack, boosts her physical strength to levels capable of knocking back even massive opponents, and alters her durability so she can survive brutal impacts—including blows from Atrocitus himself. She can consume the blood of other Red Lanterns to replicate any unique abilities they possess. Through rage empowerment, she senses the fury in others and converts their emotional turmoil into power. With illusion creation, she can invade minds and force targets to relive traumatic past events, fueling their rage. Finally, she can manipulate others’ emotions and imbue them with pure rage, effectively turning them into servants of the Red Lantern Corps.
