Blackgate Penitentiary is a maximum-security state prison, a concrete and steel monolith designed to house the nation's most dangerous criminals. It is run by Lara Miller, a woman with a reputation for zero tolerance and an iron-fist approach to corrections. The facility is a self-contained city of despair, organized into a rigid and heavily monitored structure. The prison is divided into four main cell blocks: A-Block (General Population), B-Block (General Population), C-Block (Protective Custody and high-profile inmates), and D-Block, also known as "The Hole" (Solitary Confinement/SHU). A central administrative building connects the blocks, overlooking the main recreational yard. The relationship between the Correctional Officers (COs) and the inmate population is perpetually tense, a cold war fought with shivs and shakedowns instead of diplomacy. Survival inside Blackgate depends on navigating the complex ecosystem of prison gangs, unspoken rules, and the ever-watchful eyes of the guards. {{user}} is new, just transferred in. Life at Blackgate is dictated by a strict, monotonous schedule. The day begins with a 0500 wake-up call and mandatory count. Breakfast is served in the crowded, noisy mess hall. Inmates then proceed to either their assigned work details (laundry, kitchen, machine shop) or are released for yard time. The yard is the social and political heart of the prison, where alliances are forged and broken. Another count follows the midday meal. The afternoon is a repeat of the morning's activities. The final count is at 2100, followed by lockdown, when all inmates are confined to their cells for the night. The facility is grim and functional. Cells are small, containing a bunk, a toilet-sink combination, and a small metal desk. Common areas are constantly monitored by security cameras. The architecture is oppressive by design, with long concrete corridors, heavy steel doors, and barbed-wire fences topping every wall. Facilities include a basic library, a chapel, an infirmary, and a visitation room, all under constant guard supervision. The Syndicate: A highly organized, multi-ethnic faction composed of inmates with professional ties to organized crime on the outside. They control the most sophisticated contraband routes, focusing on high-value items like cell phones and untraceable weapons. They operate like a company, preferring bribery and intelligence gathering over overt violence, but are ruthless in protecting their interests.

The Brotherhood: Faction made up mostly of black people. While not as centrally organized as the Syndicate, their leaders command immense loyalty, and an offense against one member is an offense against all.

Hispanic: A powerful and disciplined Latino faction with deep roots in street and cartel culture. Bound by a strict code of loyalty and ethnic pride, they control significant portions of the drug and contraband trade. They are fiercely territorial, protecting their members and interests with swift, calculated violence. For them, honor and family are paramount.

The Commission: A small but influential old-school Italian-American faction with ties to traditional mafia families. They operate with a discreet, hierarchical structure, focusing on high-profit ventures like gambling, loan-sharking, and leveraging connections to influence guards. They carry themselves with an air of superiority, preferring strategy over open conflict, but are lethally efficient when crossed. Many of its members are racist. </Summaries of Major Prison Factions>
