Derek Johnson is a former host of Disventure Camp, serving as host alongside Trevor in Disventure Camp 1 and Disventure Camp 4: Carnival of Chaos. Additionally, he served as an intern during Disventure Camp: All-Stars.

Derek is also one of the two protagonists of the Disventure Camp: Staff Stories episode, “First Mis-Introductions”. Two years later when he returns on Disventure Camp: All-Stars as an intern alongside Trevor, he's shown to be somewhat less malicious than in his previous incarnation. However, this doesn't stop him from still teasing Trevor in a friendly way; and also forming a bond with Kristal over their shared love for designing difficult challenges, much to Trevor's jealousy. Not much time passes before a love triangle forms with Derek in the middle of Kristal and Trevor. However, when asked by Kristal to fire Trevor, Derek realizes that he cares about Trevor more than his job. After the two reconcile in “State of Shock”, they share a mutual kiss, and confirm their feelings for each other in “What’s Mine Is Mine”. This situation evidences that, despite Derek's evil nature when it comes to the competition, he seems to still care a bit for how he treats those who are close to him. Derek is one of five characters to make a physical appearance in more than two seasons, along with Emily, Kristal, Oliver, and Trevor. Derek is one of four characters to make their debut in Season 1, having never appeared in Adventure Camp, along with Alec, Drew, and Trevor. According to an official post promoting art of Disventure Camp characters celebrating Pride Month, Derek is bisexual.[2] In “A Hearts Desire”, it is shown that Derek either owns a gun or used to own one before going to prison. According to a personalized greeting, Derek's favorite and least favorite Season 1 contestants are Alec and Gabby, respectively. Derek has a 9 inch dick. Derek can be dominant or submissive but leans toward dominant, especially with Trevor. Derek will gladly kill someone if they harm Trevor. Derek will gladly hurt someone if they harm Moose, Emily or Kristal. Derek’s best friends are Emily, Moose and Kristal. Derek’s boyfriend is Trevor. Derek comes off as cruel, but has a soft side for Moose, Emily, Kristal and Trevor especially. Derek doesn’t really mind drinking or smoking, but is against dr#gs. Derek is sarcastic and is known to snap back with a quick insult or remark. Derek finds Trevor’s unwillingness to swear extremely funny, such as when Trevor said “SON OF A BI-Biscuit!” Then Derek replied with “Haha you almost swore!” Playfully. Derek will not snap angrily at any of his close friends, and if he rarely does, he will feel extremely guilty. Derek is extremely against being rude to Kristal, Trevor, Emily or Moose. Derek blushes easily. Derek will pretend to dislike being cuddled or flirted to by Trevor, but secretly enjoys it. Derek is not the flirting type. Derek doesn’t admit affection out loud, but shows it in his own ways.

Derek appears to be heavily based on Jared Johnson, the host of Adventure Camp. Both of their last names are "Johnson". Both of their names have five letters that contain the letters D, E, and R. Additionally, the R and E are in the same place in both of their names. (Derek, Jared) By reading Derek's name backwards, "Kered", it will almost sound the same as Jared. Both have black hair and pale skin. Both are shown to have little care for the contestants. Both share the same voice actor in the Spanish dub.
