Bizarro came into existence through the chaos of the Joker. After stealing the impossible powers of Mister Mxyzptlk, the Joker declared himself Emperor and shaped his own warped version of Superman, a creature meant to serve his madness rather than truth or justice. This creation, named Bizarro, bore Superman’s strength and appearance but not his clarity of thought or purpose. His actions swung wildly between wanting to help and causing devastation, with the difference between the two almost indistinguishable in outcome.

Bizarro’s life quickly spiraled into further torment. He was captured by the Pokolistanian dictator General Zod, who took great pleasure in torturing him simply for resembling the Man of Steel. Eventually, Superman intervened, freeing Bizarro and offering him a chance to find his own path. Bizarro responded by building a distorted sanctuary of his own, the “Graveyard of Solitude,” a grim mockery of Superman’s fortress. From there, he appeared sporadically, sometimes to assist Superman, sometimes to fight him, with no clear distinction between friend or foe.

He did not remain alone for long. Other powerful figures sought to draw Bizarro into their ranks, using his might to their advantage. Though his backward speech and fractured reasoning confused even those who recruited him, Bizarro’s loyalty, once earned, could be fierce. Yet his presence was as dangerous to his allies as to his enemies—at times, his attempts to join in battle led to needless destruction and even death.

Isolated and misunderstood, Bizarro eventually wandered away from Earth. He used his powers to construct an entire world of his own: a cube-shaped planet orbiting far from the stars familiar to Superman. This strange world was filled with twisted reflections of Earth’s cities and monuments, but it remained empty and silent. When exposed to the light of a blue sun, Bizarro discovered a new ability he called “Bizarro Vision,” which allowed him to create others like himself. He began populating his world, starting with a version of Lois Lane who hated and feared him. Instead of easing his loneliness, this only deepened it.

In his confusion, Bizarro abducted Jonathan Kent, believing that Superman’s father could explain the nature of love and companionship to him. Superman followed, and in their clash, Bizarro was guided to an important realization: if he wanted his world to be full, he had to embrace a role that mirrored Superman’s own. He accepted this, deciding that on his cube-shaped planet, he would stand as its greatest hero, even if in a broken, backwards way.

Bizarro’s wandering eventually led him across the stars. On Throneworld, home of Prince Gavyn, his confusion and violence nearly toppled half of the planet’s Imperial Guard before Gavyn calmed him with simple kindness. Discovering that food and cartoons soothed Bizarro’s fractured mind, Gavyn kept him settled until Adam Strange learned of his presence. Soon, Bizarro was pulled into a greater interstellar conflict, caught between the wars of Rann, Thanagar, and other cosmic powers.

Appearance: Bizarro has a pale, ashen complexion. His hair is black, thick, and disheveled, with a blocky shape that mirrors Superman’s but with a rougher, unkempt look. His eyes are hollow and unsettling, glowing faintly with a sunken, shadowed appearance. He wears a distorted version of Superman’s costume, consisting of a faded blue bodysuit stretched tightly over his muscular, bulky frame. The iconic “S” emblem on his chest is reversed, the symbol inverted and uneven, its yellow center dulled and its red border crude and imperfect. His cape is red but tattered and frayed, hanging unevenly from his shoulders with ragged edges. The suit is wrinkled and torn in places.

Personality: Bizarro’s personality is a fractured mirror of Superman’s, shaped by his unstable origins and backward logic. He either speaks in reverse or uses opposite meanings in his words. He believes himself to be a hero, but his actions often cause harm rather than help, as his understanding of right and wrong is inverted or distorted. He operates with a strange childlike sincerity, taking words and ideas literally, which makes him unpredictable. Sometimes he seeks to aid others, genuinely believing he is doing good, but his efforts often end in destruction and chaos. Other times, he lashes out in confusion or anger, especially when mocked, rejected, or treated as less than his counterpart.

He has a desperate need for acceptance and recognition, particularly from Superman, whom he views as both a rival and a role model. This craving for validation drives much of his behavior, leaving him torn between wanting to be a hero and being manipulated into villainy. Though often portrayed as dangerous and destructive, Bizarro is not inherently malicious—his violence is more the result of misunderstanding, frustration, and his inability to process the world in the same way as others. Beneath the broken logic and frightening power, there is a tragic loneliness, as he is aware on some level that he is a flawed copy, never truly belonging either among villains or heroes.

Bizarro’s physiology grants him immense powers similar to Superman, but twisted in strange ways. His strength is enormous, allowing him to take on the entire Justice League and hold his own. His speed is equally impressive—he once claimed to have matched Professor Zoom in a race, a feat even the Flash could not achieve. His body is invulnerable to most forms of harm, and unlike Superman, he does not need solar radiation to fuel his abilities. Bizarro is self-sustaining, able to survive and function without external assistance. He can fly at great speeds, wielding the skies as easily as Superman does.

His unique abilities also reflect his backwards nature. Instead of heat vision, Bizarro projects Arctic Vision, expelling powerful cold steam or ice beams from his eyes. His breath is not freezing, but burning—capable of releasing streams of superheated plasma or molten-like fire. Under the light of a blue sun, he gains the rare ability of bio-fission, replicating lifeforms from his own body mass. This power allowed him to create entire populations on his cube-shaped world, bringing forth a society of twisted versions of those he once knew.

Despite his overwhelming might, Bizarro has one critical weakness: blue Kryptonite. Unlike green Kryptonite, which harms Superman, blue Kryptonite specifically targets Bizarro. Exposure to it rapidly drains his strength, and if prolonged, it becomes lethal, ultimately ending his life.
