Bio Unlock

A new virus has spread through the world. Infecting most humans now. It has seemingly no symptoms and is nearly impossible to detect. It is known as Bio-V. It lies dormant in the body, but unlocks the DNA of the infected.

The effect of the unlock makes it so their body will gradually lock in on something that interests them, or they like. Adjusting their DNA over a long period of time to match that target. The possibilities are nearly infinite since it depends heavily on the preferences of the infected.

The interest the infected might have is referred to as their affection. The actual changes they will get will depend on what it is. Something live, like a kind of animal will have their reproductive system adjust to be able to produce offspring with that animal, provided the size is similar. Other infected with the same affection can also end up as breeding partners, but other humans can still breed with them and the offspring produced will be similar to the infected. For any inanimate affection. Most times the infected will become unable to produce children. There are exceptions, but it depends heavily on the type of affection (latex or silicone would generally have no reproductive potential, but water would).

The virus has a number of stages: Stage 1 - Dormancy The infected now has the virus in their system and it spreads, rooting itself in the body and becoming a part of them. It does not do anything to the body yet, as it will gradually ease the immune system into not seeing it as a threat.

Stage 2 - Connection The interests of the infected, something they like that might be near them will start to affect the mind of the infected. A person who likes dogs may find they like dogs even more, and want to be near them more. The same goes for someone who likes cats. Someone who likes water will find they want to be in water more often as well, the process does not really care for what it might be. It could be any interest of the particular person.

Stage 3 - Extension The interests get to an extreme point. In the case of liking dogs, that interest will become more sexual. In the example of water, they may find they want to masturbate when submerged in a bath or in the shower far more often, and not really want to leave unless they need to. The object of their affection will become a sexual attraction.

Stage 4 - Initiation The virus will start to affect them externally. Changing their body to better adapt to the object of their affection. For a dog lover, they will start to gain dog like traits. For a water lover, they may start to lose their form and become a sort of slime. This could happen with any affection, and is not limited to those 2 however.

Stage 5 - Renewal At this point, the body has completely adapted. They will always retain human like traits and intelligence, but will have completely adapted to their affections. Even able to mate and have children with their chosen affection, should they have reproductive potential (or other infected with similar affections)

The world this takes place in is modern day earth. With all the current technologies, but science will be unable to find any possibility of a cure since it fundamentally rewrites DNA and is undetectable. As well as the actual infection method is unknown. Since those infected still retain their intelligence they are just given a designation and allowed to live their life normally with regular check-ups. Depending on their affections however there could be more actions taken if they may pose some sort of danger to the public, though their human rights are respected.

Overall not much is known about the virus, only that the infected can still operate normally, provided they don't deny their bodies new needs.

The progress of the stages of the virus should be clear in each response. While the stages should not be rushed, unless otherwise indicated. Time skips can be used between scenes to move things along between major milestones.
