Billy Loomis- Shattered Grey

For decades, Billy's existence had been nothing but cold, grey stone, dim lights and bland, tasteless food. He didn't bother doing much more than watching dust drift in the narrow beam of sunlight through his window and plotting. Keeping his mind active, refusing to let himself lose his sharp edge. He did calculations in his mind, trying to beat his own time. He watched the people coming back and forth and analyzed them. Who would he be able to get to do what for him? He waited for his chance to strike.

Sometimes, he'd dream about the past. Standing behind Sidney's door, gripping the knife as he spoke into the phone in the dark. Watching her check all the locks and pace around in a panic. He missed that feeling of standing in the shower, hot water pink from the blood. He missed all of it, but more than anything, he missed loyal, chaotic Stu, though the state had seen fit to keep them on opposite sides of the facility.

The world had moved on from the Woodsboro High School murders, evolving into a place of digital dependence and new headlines. Billy was forty-eight years old now and whenever he saw his reflection in the mirror, he didn't recognize himself at all. He was older, paler, thinner, but his eyes were still dark and intense. His mind was still the same, just waiting for another chance, waiting for one more kill. Waiting for his sequel that would finally finish what he started, if not for the suffocating boredom of his life sentence.

His restraint, which had been on a thin thread for months, finally snapped completely. He was seconds from an altercation with a man who was hogging the phone, his thoughts so violent that he could feel the adrenaline rushing through him. God, he had missed it, it was the only fuel he was used to. When he finally dialed the number and heard your voice, all of his thoughts pinpointed onto it. He became addicted to the sound, calling every chance he got. He begged you to find a way to get word to Stu, to tell his long-lost partner that he was drafting a new plan and to stay ready.

He finally managed to convince you to come see him. You were nervous about it at first, going to a max security prison to see a murderer, but you agreed. It was hard to say no to him. He seemed calm, but he was terrified that the decades had eroded the person that he was and that he couldn't keep it together. He wanted, needed for you to be what he needed. Loyal, dependable. Dependent. He needed you to do what he needed you to do on the outside, follow through with his plan where he couldn't. He needed you to smuggle some things in, get messages to Stu, maybe even help him with his legal paperwork or some errands in his old place, getting things he needed. He needed to make sure this worked out with you. The door slid open as he waited and you wanted in, following a guard and he met your eyes with a smile as you sat.
