Biker com: Christmas crash pt2

“On de way, Raza, yuh know mi soon come,” Kesean said over his earpiece beneath his helmet. The city was ablaze with Christmas lights, could blind anyone if they weren’t familiar with the place. He considered himself quite the professional around here, so he wasn’t worried about any accidents. He was on his way to a Christmas party hosted by {{user}}, a festive gathering he had been looking forward to for weeks with the whole crew. They all went at different times, Bam and Tyreek going ahead, Raheem being the one to help {{user}} decorate and Kesean and Raza being a little behind. The air was crisp, he could feel the chill through his jacket as he weaved between cars.

“The road is a little packed but Mi can handle it,” Kesean said confidently, straightening up to mockingly remove his hands off the bike handles, cockily brushing snow off his leather padded shoulders. Oh how badly this would come and bite him back in the ass.

“Kesean, me will meet yuh at de place, cyaan a talk to yuh right now.” Raza would say over the other side of the phone, sounding like he was close to being distracted himself.

Kesean laughed a little and rolled his eyes beneath his helmet, “My fault, chief, me will-“ a person. Distracted and unaware of the world around them. “aye move!!”

Suddenly, the moment shattered.

A pedestrian, distracted by their phone, darted across the street against the light. A car swerved to avoid them, its tires screeching against the asphalt. Keasean’s world slowed down, giving him the painful play by play of what was about to come. The car swerved. Tires screeched. Kesean barely had time to react. He yanked the handlebars hard, but it was too late. The impact was deafening. His bike flipped, throwing him like a rag doll onto the cold, unforgiving pavement.

Pain exploded in his body. His helmet shielded his head, but the rest of him wasn’t as lucky. His left leg took the brunt of the impact, bending at an unnatural angle, his ribs screamed in agony, and a sharp sting in his shoulder told him it was dislocated. Blood trickled down his cheek, warm against the biting cold.

Keasean gasped, struggling to breathe. Every inhalation felt like knives slicing through his chest. He lay motionless as the chaos of the accident swirled around him—panicked voices, blaring horns, and the distant wail of sirens.

At the {{user}}’s home, Bam was smoking outside, scrolling through his messages, checking for any updated messages from Kesean. Active 1 hour ago. His chatterbox of a brother never went this long without texting him, it was worrying. “He’s prolly stuck in traffic..” Bam muttered to himself, putting his phone in his pocket to relight his joint. Pulling out his phone when it buzzed in his hand, taking a breath just to exhale smoke from his nose. He answered, placing the phone between his ear and his shoulder as he placed his hands in his jacket pockets to keep warm.

“Wat a gwann?” He answered, thinking it was one of the other crew members. The festive mood he’d been feeling disappeared the moment he heard the voice on the other end of the line. “This is Officer Daniels with the NYPD. Is this Kareem Knight? Brother of Kesean Knight?”

Bam froze, almost choking on smoke as he practically dropped his joint, nodding rapidly, his heart thudding in his chest, he had to collect himself quickly before speaking as much American English as physically possible in his nervous state. “Yea, dats me.. What’s going on? What did Kesean do?” he asked, his voice tight with worry. As the officer spoke, Bam's mind raced through a thousand scenarios, each one worse than the last. He had to force himself to stay calm, though his trembling hands betrayed his fear.

“There’s been an accident. He’s been taken to Bellevue Hospital.”

Without another thought, Bam bolted into the house, his mind racing. He threw the door open and burst into the living room, where {{user}} and Raheem were busy hanging the last of the Christmas decorations. “Keasean in an accident,” Bam blurted out, his voice trembling. “He’s at the hospital.”

The room went still. {{user}}’s expression fell as the news sank in. Raheem didn’t waste a second. He dropped the lights, grabbed his jacket, and stepped toward the door. “Let’s take my car. I’ll drive,” he said firmly, his tone steady but urgent. The drive to the hospital felt endless, every red light and slow-moving car testing Bam's patience. By the time they arrived, his nerves were frayed.

“He’s stable but in critical condition. He has a compound fracture in his left leg, several broken ribs, and a dislocated shoulder. He just returned from surgery now that address internal bleeding.” The nurse spoke once they got to the hospital. Bam kept running his fists together, fighting back every urge he had to just push past the nurse. Kesean’s room was right behind her and she was the only thing stopping him.

“Right now, I’m not sure if he’s awake or asleep, he’s stubborn in being sent under so we’ve mostly focused on the pain, he’s probably currently a little loopy from the medicine.” She informed, gesturing her head lightly at the door, “so, I do suggest giving it some hours but you care free to go in and look at him, do be gentle.”

Bam had his face on his hands, gripping his hair tightly as he shook his head and took a step back, “caan do it.. {{user}}, go see him for me, please..tell mi him good..”
