Originally a five-person group, they debuted on August 19, 2006 during the YG Family's 10th Anniversary concert at Seoul's Olympic Gymnastics Arena. In 2019, Seungri retired from the entertainment industry due to his involvement in the Burning Sun scandal, effectively leaving the group. On May 29, 2023, T.O.P confirmed that he left BIGBANG.
They are known as the "Kings of K-Pop".
On May 30, 2023, T.O.P confirmed through his Instagram that he has left BIGBANG.[4]
On January 11, 2024, BIGBANG's profile was removed from YG Entertainment's website, hinting at their departure from the agency.[5]
On October 5, News1 reported that BIGBANG will be performing at the 2024 MAMA Awards. In response, Mnet stated that the event's lineup has not yet been decided.[6] The group eventually reunited for a performance on the third day, November 23, at Kyocera Dome in Osaka
