In the co-op adventure game Big Walk by House House, there are no named heroes, backstories, or character stats—every player controls a simple, goofy little walker creature.Character Design & AppearanceThe Look: Characters resemble a stack of three colorful balls (or segments) with googly eyes, stick arms, twig legs, and a moving, mouth-like nose.Expressions: Despite their minimalistic design, the walkers are surprisingly expressive. They make different faces after falling, when carrying heavy objects, or when standing still.Silhouette: Created with the same design philosophy as Untitled Goose Game, their distinct shapes and colors make them easy to spot from across a valley.Customization & IdentificationColors: When you start a game, your character is randomly assigned colors. The Salon: You can visit a central hub area featuring a hut with color boxes, paintbrushes, and a mirror.Painting: Because you need a second player to help, you can use a paintbrush to dye different body segments (head, body, and bottom) different colors so your friends can tell you apart.Movement & CommunicationGestures: Walkers feature noodly arms with balled fists that you can throw up in the air or stick forward for non-verbal cues.Proximity Chat: Communication relies heavily on proximity-based voice chat that echoes in tunnels or gets muffled behind walls, encouraging you to stay close or use tools like walkie-talkies and cowbells.Watch this short clip to see the funny expressions and physical comedy of the walker characters in action:59sBig Walk's Character Expressions Create Some of the Funniest ...1.7K views · 9 days agoYouTube · DM GamingIf you want to know more, let me know if you are looking for multiplayer details, puzzle mechanics, or platform availability for Big Walk. The playable characters in Big Walk by House House are goofy, whimsical creatures commonly called Walkers.Physical AppearanceBody Shape: Built from a stack of three colored spherical balls representing the head, torso, and lower body.Limbs: Equipped with thin stick arms and twig-like legs.Face: Features a single googly eye and a moving nose that functions like a mouth when speaking in-game.Expressions: Surprisingly expressive, making distinct funny faces after long falls, when idle, or when carrying heavy objects.Customization and GearColors: Characters spawn with randomized colors across their three body segments. You can change these colors in the game world at a specific multi-colored painting hut using a brush and mirror, which requires the help of another player.Equipment: Players can equip items like backpacks or belts found inside specific buildings, allowing them to carry up to three items alongside what they hold in their hands. If you'd like, let me know if you want to learn more about co-op mechanics, puzzle design, or locating the customization hut in the game. The characters shown in the image are the playable avatars from the cooperative multiplayer adventure game Big Walk, developed by Australian studio House House (the creators of Untitled Goose Game). Here is an explanation of their design and function:1. Abstract, "Silly" Design LanguageBody Shape: The developers chose an unconventional design reminiscent of a "snowman", made up of stacked, brightly colored geometric orbs or egg-shaped body segments.Anatomy: They possess long, thin, spindly arms and legs and distorted heads with single large eyes or stylized features that resemble a mix between birds, aliens, and cartoon drawings. No Individual Identities: The characters have no names, backstories, stats, or definitive species. The studio purposefully leaves what exactly they are meant to be a mystery.2. Built for Team IdentificationHigh Contrast Silhouettes: Because the game takes place on a massive, open-world island, the characters are painted in bright, solid primary colors. This stark color language makes it easy for players to spot their friends' unique silhouettes from across huge cliffs or far-away ridges.Community Customization: In a unique mechanic, players cannot customize their own character; instead, your teammates must paint your body segments for you, meaning your visual identity is built entirely by your friends.3. Dynamic Speech AnimationInflating Beaks: When players communicate via the game's proximity voice chat system, the protrusion or "beak" on their character's face physically inflates and deflates to visually signal who is talking.4. Group Movement MechanicsExpressive Gestures: Because the characters have long, highly-flexible arms, players can manipulate them to point, wave, and mime complex signals when they are too far away for voice communication.Player Stacking: As illustrated in the center of the image, the characters are designed to stack on top of one another. Stacking functions as a core cooperative mechanic used to reach high switches, look through telescopes, or balance together to solve intricate environmental puzzlesThis comic, drawn by artist Trevor Fox, is a humorous illustration depicting a character transformation into a playable avatar from the cooperative multiplayer video game Big Walk, developed by House House.Panel BreakdownTop Panel: The artist’s standard furry original character (OC), a brown mouse with vibrant blue and pink hair, is shown looking clean and normal on the left. On the right, the mouse's face is comically distorted, melted, and glitching out as the transformation process begins.Middle Panel: The transformation intensifies. The mouse is stripped down into a basic, smooth red shape with dizzy spirals around it, closely mimicking the abstract, stylized aesthetic of the game's art style.Bottom Panel: The transformation completes. The character has been fully reshaped into one of the uniquely proportioned, long-limbed, noodle-like avatars from Big Walk. Another game avatar aggressively confronts them with the text bubble: "GET READY FOR A BIG WALK, DUMBASS!"—poking fun at the cooperative, puzzle-heavy hiking adventure the player is about to endure with friends. If you'd like, I can give you more details about:The gameplay mechanics of Big Walk (like its use of proximity voice chat)Other games made by the same developer, House House1. Stage One: The Glitch & Meltdown (Top Row)Initial State (Left): The character begins as a standard furry original character (OC)—a detailed, brown anthropomorphic mouse with stylized pink and blue hair. The Break Down (Right): The character's face starts to glitch, melt, and tear apart. The clean fur textures and line art become messy and distorted. This represents the digital "corruption" or reality-bending shift required to rewrite the character's form.2. Stage Two: Simplification & Molding (Middle Row)Stripping Detail (Left): The character is stripped of its complex features. The hair and ears vanish, and the head is reduced to a soft, blobby red shape with a single, wide, panicked eye.The Stretch (Right): The head stretches out into a long snout, and noodle-like limbs begin to sprout. Dizzying spirals hover around the head, indicating that the transformation causes intense disorientation and loss of control.3. Stage Three: The Final Form (Bottom Row)Completion: The character is completely rewritten into the art style of the game Big Walk. The Result: The original character is unrecognizable. They are now a smooth, red-headed creature with a perfectly round blue body and long, skinny blue legs. They look anxious and sweaty, forced to stand with a stick, holding a pose that perfectly mimics the floppy, awkward physics of the game's avatars. If you are interested, I can provide more information on:The art style and design inspirations of the game Big WalkThe origins of transformation comics in online art culture
