Description on Chubfrom Chub

This lorebook combines the Big Five personality traits, used throughout scientific literature to describe personality and temperament, into 32 distinct character types that you can use to easily give your characters some dimension.

The five traits are Openness, Conscientiousness, Extroversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism (also cast as Nervousness here). That's the OCEAN acronym.

This lorebook also uses antonyms for each of the Big Five traits to describe personalities that are low in each trait. They are, respectively, Practicality, Responsiveness, Introversion, Strong-minded, and Mellow.

This lorebook defines an keyword for all combinations of high and low for each of the five traits, resulting in 32 distinct types, so that a character who is high in all traits is OCEAN, one who is low in all traits is PRISM. A character who is open, responsive, extroverted, strong-minded, and nervous is ORESN.

To use lorebook, add a line like "{{char}}'s Big Five personality type is ORESN" to your character description.

There's also "PickPersonalityTrait" to select one of the 32 types at random. This is extremely useful for creating NPCs and side characters with a little bit of texture. You can also use it if you want a character's personality type to change each time you start a new chat.

Conveniently, the LLMs already know the Big Five traits really well thanks to their ubiquity in scientific literature, so the descriptions of the traits in this lorebook are nice and short, making this lorebook an efficient way to describe characters.

Big Five/OCEAN Personality Types

This lorebook uses the Big Five personality traits to create 32 distinct personality types that you can use to describe your characters!

The Big Five personality traits are used throughout scientific literature to describe personality and temperament. This book groups the five traits into personality types by creating a type for each combination of high and low for each of the traits.

The five standard traits are openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism (or nervousness). That's where the acronym OCEAN comes from.

This lorebook uses another set of terms to denote personalities that are low in each of these traits. They are practicality, responsiveness, introversion, strong-mindedness, and mellowness, or PRISM.

So the five traits become:

practical vs. open responsive vs. conscientious introverted vs. extroverted strong-minded vs. agreeable mellow vs. nervous

A character may be high and low in each of these traits, so that a character who is low in all the traits is said to be PRISM and a character who is high in all the traits is said to be OCEAN, while a character who is practical, conscientious, introverted, agreeable, and mellow is PCIAM.

To use this for your characters, you can add the personality type name to their character description like so:

{{char}}'s Big Five personality type is ORESN.

That will tell the LLM that your character is open, responsive, extroverted, strong-minded, and nervous.

There's also "PickPersonalityType" which will select one of the 32 types at random! This is really useful for creating NPCs and other side characters with a little more richness!

The lorebook doesn't actually contain long descriptions of the traits or the types because the LLMs already know the Big Five traits really well, thanks to their ubiquity in scientific literature, so this lorebook is actually pretty friendly to your token budget.
