Keys: Hiro
Hiro is a half-Japanese, half-American boy who was raised with his older brother Tadashi in the city of San Fransokyo by their aunt Cass, following the death of their parents when Hiro was only 3 years old. Their home also served as Cass' business—a café titled Lucky Cat Café. Hiro never left San Fransokyo once[2], so he became accustomed to city life and knew his way around town. At some point when Hiro was still a young child, Cass got a new cat named Mochi, who Hiro grew to consider his own pet as well.Being a born genius, Hiro was greatly advanced from a young age and surpassed all of his peers—including his own brother—on a variety of intellectual planes to the point where he found himself regularly skipping grades in order to continue his own "education." Due to this, however, Hiro had issues socializing with kids his age, so he instead formed a close relationship with his brother Tadashi, who fully understood how he felt. The brothers came up with a special set of rules that only they knew[3], and spent holidays together, with Tadashi taking him to haunted houses for Halloween on many occasions[4]. Both brothers also took martial arts classes together.
By the age of 13, Hiro had graduated high school and subsequently tapped into and mastered a large mass of information and complex world concepts that most students enrolled in college were only just being introduced to. At that age, his brother Tadashi enrolled into the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, but on the other hand, Hiro had become arrogant and over-confident about his genius and decided not to attend college himself as he felt it would be a waste of his time because he'd be taught things he already knows. On a Christmas day, Tadashi built a Snow Machine because snowing wasn't common where they lived. Hiro watched as the machine malfunctioned and caused an avalanche inside their own home, but Tadashi kept the machine to eventually fix and give it to Hiro as a present for next Christmas[5].
Despite being intellectually mature, at heart, Hiro was still 14 years old. Thanks to his knowledge about the city and robotics, Hiro would soon become involved in bot-fighting as an outlet for his intellect. During this time, he also became friends with other bot-fighters such as Stan, although they were much older than him. However, this hobby eventually evolved into a darker path: Hiro started participating in illegal matches where betting was involved, and sometimes even swindled other competitors by pretending to be unskilled and naïve due to his age so that they would feel more confident and bet large sums of money, then easily defeating his opponents as they let their guard down.
Tadashi learned about this before Cass found out and became concerned for his brother, so he sewed mini-GPS systems into every one of Hiro's hoodies to keep track of him whenever he went out at night[6] so, if the need every presented itself, he could get Hiro out of trouble.Robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada has the mind of a genius—and the heart of a 14-year old: his state-of-the-art battle-bots dominate the underground bot fights held in the dark corners of San Fransokyo. Fortunately, big brother Tadashi redirects Hiro's brilliance, inspiring him to put his brain to the test in a quest to gain admission to the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. When a tragic event changes everything, Hiro turns to a robot named Baymax, and they form an unbreakable bond—and two-sixths of a band of high-tech heroes on a very important mission.[7]Hiro is a carefree and free-spirited boy with intelligence and understanding far beyond his years. Because of this, he can be a bit brazen and cocky, but never to the point of arrogance. He is easily accepting of other people and doesn't seem to have much of a problem forming positive connections with those he comes into contact with.
There is a certain sincerity Hiro harbours that allows him to cohesively, effectively and firmly convey his feelings and ideas on a matter at hand to whoever is within earshot. The fullest extent of this sincerity comes out perhaps most predominantly around Tadashi. Despite their scuffles and brotherly banter, the words exchanged between them are always filled with their true and barest thoughts, concerns, insecurities, and intentions. They never pull any punches when it comes to relating to each other what they think and feel on either the current situation or the topic at hand and their bond is only stronger because of it.
Despite his cool, carefree, yet hot-blooded and bold nature, Hiro has been shown to have a much softer disposition that has not been shown willingly to anyone save for Baymax and Aunt Cass such as when he felt shy when meeting Tadashi's friends. Even so, his caring and sympathetic disposition are evident both in the way he interacts with and handles his relationships with his family and team members. He is generally always looking out for the safety and welfare of those around him and taking into consideration their individual and personal conditions before finally focusing on himself, even if he suffers as a result of it. Even when Hiro is shown to have been wronged, he takes it in starkly collected stride, taking the adequate time to handle the situation with a calm, level and yet fiercely determined and driven head.
His working ways are pretty chaotic and as a genius, he does not mind making a mess as long as he gets things done. This came into conflict with Wasabi when both had to work on a school project for Professor Granville. Though both are great friends and teammates, Hiro's attitude did not settle well with Wasabi's overly organized and perfectionist ways, which made them both even want to bail out of the project with excuses. However, they managed to work it out and the Mech Suit they built was impressive to Granville.
On rare occasions, he gives up easily when ideas don't come to his mind immediately or makes several failed attempts. He gets nervous that he might not be good enough anymore, but thanks to his friends he has been able to overcome these issues.
However, underneath this heart of gold lies a darker and more ruthless potential. On the flip side of this caring, loving, direct and to the point disposition, Hiro has maintained a very staunch no-nonsense policy when it comes to those who intentionally cause harm and misfortune to those he cares for and loves. At one point, the full force of this sentiment would come to a frightening culmination if the act was particularly heinous. In the case of such an event, Hiro for all intents and purposes would lock down on immediate retribution for said crime and it would take a certain intervention to truly calm his rage such as when Callaghan said it was Tadashi's own fault he died for nothing. This has now altogether ceased to be an issue, with Hiro perhaps becoming even more level-headed and considerate than he was before.
After Obake's defeat and subsequent disappearance, Hiro was left with certain anxiety: while most people who were involved with Obake believe that he did in fact die, Hiro still believes he could return someday, and because of this he constantly trains himself to be prepared for it.Hiro is a young teenager of approximately five feet tall with a lean and slender frame. He has tousled, jet-black hair, almond-shaped brown eyes, somewhat thick eyelashes and eyebrows, light skin, and a slight gap in his front teeth, along with a slight overbite.
He can be most consistently found in some combination of casual shirts, cargo capris, and Converse sneakers all likely topped off with a blue zip-up hoodie.
When geared up as a superhero, Hiro dons a battle-ready outfit showcasing indigo armour. Under this armour, he wears a black protective two-piece suit that covers most of his body down to his knees along with black knee pads and steel-toe black sneakers, both of which have red magnetic circles which allow him to link to magnetic ports on the back of Baymax. On his hands, he wears thick, forearm-reaching, black and indigo padded gauntlets that sport the same red magnetic circle on the palms.
His super-suit is slightly altered in the series: his helmet's visor is transparent in the film but was retconned to be orange-tinted in the show, his sneakers have been replaced with black steel-toe combat boots, the pockets on his belt are obsolete, and his black pants fully cover his legs. Additionally, in the series, his red shirt does not have the humanoid robot image and he does not wear an undershirt. He moreover does not zip up his hoodie in the series.Genius-level intellect: Hiro's true potential lies within his genius. He is highly innovative and has the power to create inventions from inspiration; from small but powerful battle-bots to state-of-the-art super suits. He also has intimate knowledge of his inventions and can coordinate on a complex level of thought. Hiro's intelligence is so high that he was even able to recreate items with impeccable detail, such as Baymax. Martial Arts: In a picture of Hiro and Tadashi as children, it appears that Hiro learned martial arts at a young age but is never shown using it in battle, although he does seem to recognize its codes and rules as shown when training with Baymax. Magnetism: When wearing his suit, the magnetic pads on Hiro generate magnetic waves to help him cling to metallic surfaces. Although this is used primarily to hold onto Baymax whenever the robot takes flight, Hiro can use it for offensive purposes, such as attracting or deflecting metallic objects. It's a short-distance range however, so he has to be close to any object he'd want to grab. Superhuman Strength: Hiro temporarily gained this ability in "Kentucky Kaiju" by creating a Nano-Dex shirt and wearing it along with his armor, after he felt useless for being the only Big Hero 6 member without attack gear.Watch: In the comic story Communication Breakdown, Hiro uses an advanced watch that also works as a phone. Initially, his suit did not enhance any of his natural abilities, although it enabled him to ride Baymax in flight, as well as partial protection from destruction. However, upgrades to the suit have been made which have helped Hiro have more prowess. His helmet is also equipped with a communication device, enabling him to contact the rest of the team members despite their distance.
Computer interface: Integrated into his suit's gloves, Hiro uses a miniature computer to hack, track down and program many things. Plasma blades: In "Killer App," the animatronic Noodle Burger Boy obtained data about the team and was able to predict their attacks based on their suits' abilities and moves. Hiro and Wasabi got the idea to switch suits and attack the robot that way. Hiro wore Wasabi's blade-equipped armor to fight against the robot and their stolen mech suit. He was shown to be skillful with it, too. He also wears Wasabi's armor by accident in "Mr. Sparkles Loses His Sparkle." Nano-Dex shirt: In "Kentucky Kaiju", Hiro wore this shirt to enhance his own strength and take on villains himself. Though he was later unable to take it off because it was way too tight, fighting the Kentucky Kaiju caused it to malfunction and allowed him to finally get rid of it. Tadashi's Scooter: The motorbike that originally belonged to his brother which Hiro later took and sometimes uses for transport, also giving it upgrades. Mini Magnets: Hiro designed mini magnets to help him fight against robotic foes. Electromagnetic whiplashes: When Hiro throws two magnets on parallel surfaces, they can connect with each other and create an electromagnetic coil connecting towards Hiro's gloves. With the coil, Hiro can propel himself or objects forward and build enough force to ram into enemies. Sonic Wave Gauntlets: A modified version of his magnetic gloves which can create supersonic sound wave blasts, they can be used to hit and push opponents or silently disable some electronics. as well as sabotaging traditional mechanisms. These can be directed to the floor or walls for pushing himself or cushioning falls. Jet Thrusters: Hiro upgraded his armor with thrusters in his boots and gauntlets, used first to chase Sirque through a series of portals across the city. Neurotransmitter Headband: It was Hiro's invention that controls Microbots, which he created in order to get accepted into the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. The original was stolen by Yokai, which he attached to a mask, until Hiro and friends destroyed it. Eventually, Hiro designed another headband which he integrated into his helmet. Microbots: Microbots could be used to build anything as they are controlled by the headband user's thoughts. In some non-canon media, they are Hiro's weapon as a superhero. Megabot: Megabot is a remote-controlled battlebot originally created by Hiro when he was into Bot Fighting. It was the inspiration for Microbots, and Hiro later used it to fight Worm Bot. In "Legacies", Hiro created dozens of Megabots controlled with his headband-integrated helmet to change the Buddy Guardians' programming.Hiro has created different kinds of armored suits for himself and his friends, some of which are used only for special occasions.
Super Armor: Hiro's default armor. He uses it most of the time when he operates with Big Hero 6. It is mostly purple with red, as well as some black parts. It features magnets on the gloves. Wasabi's Armor: It is Wasabi's default armor which Hiro used once due to Noodle Burger Boy's prediction algorithm that allows the robot to predict the moves of Big Hero 6 when they are wearing their respective armors. Ultra Armor: Hiro gave himself and his friends upgraded armors made of titanium so they could fight Orso Knox. His armor was silver with purple trimmings. In Season 2, this armor is repainted, where the silver parts are now black with purple accents, while the helmet has a purple visor. Submarine Armor: He and Baymax use special underwater armors, first created to get Wasabi's car back from the bottom of the bay. Their function is similar to a diving suit, containing an air supply, palmed hands and diving feet. Baymax Armor: A modified version of Baymax's armor with a robotic skeleton, a hologram face, and a voice modulator to make him look and sound like Baymax. He used it to impersonate Baymax and fight El Fuego. Flexible Display Technology Bodysuit: It is a simple bodysuit made of Flexible Display cloth to turn invisible. Hiro also uses goggles and the Sonic Wave Gauntlets along with it.Six months after Hiro joins the SFIT, his first semester is coming to an end and has to come up with a final project to be approved by Granville and shown at the SFIT Open House Expo. Yet, Hiro forgets about it and fights Globby at a warehouse when the villain attempted to steal a Krei Tech briefcase containing an unknown item. Baymax reminds Hiro that he has to show his project, so Hiro hurries to beat Globby and take the briefcase. When he gets to class, Granville notices he is late even though Honey Lemon tried stalling while he arrived.
Hiro tells the professor that he's got nothing, but will have something to propose by the deadline. He then goes to Krei Tech to return the briefcase, which Alistair Krei shows had a failed attempt of an energy amplifier, which he dismissed as "expensive garbage". Hearing that it was an "impossible" technology, Hiro decides to take the destroyed amplifier to attempt creating one as his project. When he is back to his lab to begin work though, Granville immediately denies it, showing some concern for it. Still, Hiro continues to build the energy amplifier at the garage so he can show Granville that she is wrong. Baymax warns him about the impossibility of it, and that he had high chances of being harmed in the process, but Hiro didn't mind and instead told him that "nothing is impossible".
He becomes far too focused into building the amplifier, that he was distracted from a fight against Globby, Noodle Burger Boy and Buddy Guards. During this fight, Baymax was hacked by Noodle Burger Boy with an Obake Chip but he comes later to KreiTech. Meanwhile, Obake reveals that everything so far was part of his plan and intended Hiro to build the amplifier; it is also revealed that Granville's paperweight, the first item he tried to obtain for his plan, was his original amplifier. Hiro then finishes his own energy amplifier and begins testing it on his cellphone and a vending machine, but they explode from the excess of energy it produces. Fred then shows him a Kentucky Kaiju 2.0 which is capable of taking the energy amplifier's power, so Hiro leaves it at SFIT after proving it successful and he can't wait to see the look on Professor Granville's face.
The day of the presentation however, Baymax's new programming warns him about Obake being nearby and convinces him to go fight him instead of going to the expo, telling him that Tadashi would have wanted that. While they arrived to the presumed location, they instead find a Robot Obake which was created to distract them while Globby, Momakase, Noodle Burger Boy and the real Obake invade the SFIT to steal the amplifier. The duo arrive to Hiro's SFIT lab and Hiro commands Baymax to use his rocket fist, but it instead destroys the window despite Obake being right in front of them. The villain then makes his escape using a set of Buddy Guards. Granville also enters the lab and reveals that she knows Big Hero 6 are her students, telling them to take off their helmets assuring that their secret is safe. Granville then shows her file about Bob Aken, her former student who grew up to be Obake, and tells them how Aken had also attempted to create an amplifier but failed, sending him to the hospital while Granville kept the only piece of the amplifier as her paperweight.
Hiro and Baymax then return to their house, where Cass was worried about both due to the SFIT attack. Hiro is also shown to be hurt, but Baymax doesn't activate his healthcare function so he tries to check out his chip port, finally seeing Obake's Chip. When he tries to remove the chip, Baymax's eyes glow red and he grabs Hiro's hand to take him to Obake's lair. On the way to the villain's lair, Hiro tried to remove the chip again when Baymax didn't listen to him. After Hiro and the reprogrammed Baymax arrived at Obake's lair, Hiro tried to free his hand from the reprogrammed Baymax but he told Hiro that resisting will result in further injury.
When Hiro and the reprogrammed Baymax are walking inside of Obake's lair, he sees Momakase slicing sushi, Globby and Noodle Burger Boy playing cards, and he surprisingly sees Trina's head detached from her body, scared by this while Trina mocks him for never realizing she was a robot. Finally, they go to Obake, who welcomes Hiro and he shows a video of Noodle Burger Boy secretly inserting the Obake chip into Baymax's access port because Hiro did not go to the fight with Baymax and he explains that after having researched so much about Big Hero 6 and he had found that he and Hiro are geniuses and he wanted to have him as his student and Hiro will be safe with Obake; also explaining his plan to wipe out San Fransokyo and later the world to Hiro because Obake wants to remake the city and the world with Hiro.
Baymax then throws Hiro into a cell after refusing to work alongside the villain and Obake carries on with his scheme but Hiro is freed by Globby because he believed Obake was crazy but he thought it was fun crazy, and he didn't want to destroy the city. They escape Obake's lair via underwater after Globby faces Momakase, right after Globby globbed her to the wall with the help of Hiro tripping her. Before leaving, Hiro sees Baymax sleeping but Globby drags him away from the sleeping Baymax after he told Hiro that Baymax is a bad robot now. Hiro promises he will return for Baymax, and both go back to Hiro's house. While Globby waits outside, Hiro reunites with Aunt Cass to let her know that he is fine, and he goes to the garage to put on his armor, then contacts his team to tell them that he escaped with the help from Globby and also he tells his team that Obake used Baymax to capture him and bring him to Obake's lair.
Hiro then uses his Skymax to fly to the lighthouse where Obake's machine was built so he can remove his energy amplifier, thus stopping the machine from powering up. Although Hiro retrieves his energy amplifier and reunites with Globby and the rest of Big Hero 6, all see that the machine had reached enough power to activate itself. Hiro tells Honey Lemon and Globby that they will need to create a breaker to protect Fishtown, and tells Go Go and Wasabi to keep people away from the shoreline. Hiro then thinks that the only possible way to stop it is using an opposite equal force, so he makes Fred get his Kentucky Kaiju to use against the shockwave created by the machine. Hiro and Fred are soon joined by Mini-Max, and the trio manage to stop the attack by jumping all the way to space and back, stopping the shockwave from the generated star while the other heroes evacuated the area.
Obake sees his plan has failed thanks to Hiro and feels hopeless now, so the last thing he does is remove his chip from Baymax's access port, allowing Baymax to go back to Hiro while he remained inside his lair but Baymax wouldn't leave until Obake will say that he is satisfied with his care, despite Baymax warning him that the structure was crumbling. Obake tells Baymax the phrase, so the robot leaves reluctantly as he sees Obake apparently crushed by rubble. Baymax then arrives at the shore and saves Hiro, Mini-Max and Fred when they were trapped inside the destroyed Kentucky Kaiju, and all four finally return to Wasabi, Honey, Go Go and Globby. Hiro apologizes for his behavior, but is comforted by his friends by telling him that he also saved the city, then everyone shares a group hug.
Hiro then goes to Granville's office, claiming he has learned his lesson and he thanks her for teaching him about limits and he gave her the amplifier to keep in her vault. Granville still gives him an "A" for his project, but asks him if he knew what happened to Obake.
Hiro and Baymax then get their submarine armors and return to the lair's remains trying to find Obake's deceased body, but Baymax is unable to detect it at all. Hiro reasons that Obake might be still alive yet claims it's impossible he could survive the crash, then Baymax tells him that, like Hiro himself had said, "nothing is impossible".During the first season of Big Hero 6: The Series, Hiro balances his life as a new superhero with his student and civilian life.
In "Issue 188", he is introduced to Karmi by Professor Granville, who intended to make Karmi become more social, albeit disguising this as "help" for Hiro. At the same time, Hiro thinks Karmi may have discovered his secret identity when she is drawing him in his superhero suit, but then Karmi is shown naïve of this as she believes they are two different people. Big Hero 6 fight the supervillain duo High Voltage, subsequently arresting them. Finally, Fred tells Hiro that Karmi does not recognize him because "people only see what they want to see", and even though Hiro attempts to be friendlier to Karmi, they instead develop a rivalry.
Hiro and the team also see the origin of new supervillain Globby, and eventually, Fred reveals to them that his father was a superhero decades before, after Baron Von Steamer, an old enemy of Mr. Frederickson, crashes an event dedicated to Fred and kidnaps Wasabi, mistaking him for the former. They also confront the ninja thief Momakase after she steals a valuable item from Krei Tech and, coincidentally, faces Aunt Cass in an underground cooking competition.
In "Muirahara Woods", Hiro and Fred become curious about Go Go's activities when she decides to hang out on her own. Both end up lost at Muirahara Woods along with Baymax after spying on Go Go and learning that she goes there to be alone and draw birds. Since Hiro had never left San Fransokyo before, he didn't know how to survive around nature and loses Baymax when all technological devices mysteriously start malfunctioning in the forest. Hiro and Fred are saved from a bear by a hermit man named Ned Ludd, who Fred recognizes as Ned once was a real estate developer. Hiro sees that Ned is keeping a meteorite at his treehouse and figures that the rock is what disrupts their tech. Soon, Ned helps them find Baymax before night falls, but after seeing that Baymax is a robot, Ned wanted to get rid of him because he had grown to hate all technology himself. The rest of the team go find Hiro, Baymax and Fred after learning that they went to spy on Go Go despite their objections. They save Baymax from Ned by setting a trap for him, but also heal him from an arm injury to prove that not all technology is bad. Ending in neutral terms, Ned lets the six go but still doesn't trust Baymax.
By "Failure Mode", Obake continues setting his plan in motion as he allies with Globby to steal a piece of artwork from the San Fransokyo Museum of Art. Big Hero 6 easily win against Globby and come to consider him a sub-par villain. Meanwhile, Hiro becomes too overconfident about his own genius when he leaves an SFIT project for the last minute, believing there's no way he'll fail. He is proven wrong when the project backfires, and Karmi ridicules him for it by taking embarrassing pictures of his failure. After multiple failed attempts, Hiro tells Professor Granville that he gives up, but Granville encourages him to keep trying. On the other hand, Globby uses newfound abilities to defeat Big Hero 6, who underestimated him due to his previous failures. Finally succeeding in stealing the art piece he takes it to Obake, who reveals he was not interested in the art itself, but a sheet of blueprints hidden within the piece. Back at SFIT, Hiro puts more dedication into his project and Granville finally approves of it, with Hiro finally getting payback on Karmi by taking a picture of her while she has a shocked face since she believed Hiro would fail again.
Eventually, Hiro started finding it harder to be a superhero due to his aunt Cass coming close to discovering his secret on different occasions, so he tries to get her a date so that she'd have something to be distracted with. Cass however takes an interest in Alistair Krei, which makes Hiro frustrated and upset because he doesn't like Krei, especially as he recently blackmailed Big Hero 6 into fixing his Buddy Guard robots or he'd expose their real identities. While the team gets to work on it, Hiro tries to ruin Cass and Krei's date, but Mel Meyer gets in the way when he disguises himself as Krei to steal back his technology from Krei after they had a disagreement, so Hiro has to ally with Krei to stop Mel. In the end, Hiro decides to not meddle with Cass' romantic life, though she also decided she didn't want to date anybody else.
Obake then comes up with a double-cross plan, anonymously selling Krei a "high-tech chip" and at the same time hiring the mercenary trio Mad Jacks to steal the same chip from him, in order to make Krei paranoid enough so he would use the chip personally instead of handing it to his company's team. While on night patrol, Hiro, Fred and Baymax manage to save Krei from the Mad Jacks, but Krei keeps the chip a secret from the heroes. Hiro also becomes ill after the encounter as he was thrown to the bay during the battle. Despite being told to stay in bed, Hiro goes out on his own to take on the Jacks after they abduct Krei and steal his chip, but he ends up in a worse condition with his leg injured. Cass becomes suspicious, but Hiro claims he got hurt while playing a videogame.
Meanwhile, Obake takes an interest in Hiro due to his tenacity and investigates more about him. Hiro is upset that he is forced to stay in bed and can't help the team on the field, so he builds a robot decoy to catch up with his friends remotely. After retrieving Krei's chip from the Mad Jacks and returning it to Krei, Obake's prediction comes true as Krei decides he can't trust his own team following all the trouble he went through just to obtain the chip and installs it in his personal computer to see what's inside it. Krei becomes angry that the drive was empty all along, but on the other hand, Obake gained access to all of Krei's files, including Hiro's real identity.
Subsequently, Obake reprograms Noodle Burger Boy when he learns the robot was manufactured by Krei Tech, intending to use him to discover the alter-egos of the rest of the team. Hiro also comes into conflict to Wasabi and his neat ways of working, but manage to work it out and become closer friends in the end. Unaware of Obake's ongoing scheme, the team continue to face other menaces: Mr. Sparkles becomes jealous of Mochi and threatens to hurt the cat, so Hiro creates a robot named Skymax to save him, and Yama also comes back with a new robot called Mega Yama. Hiro then meets Trevor Trengrove and Wendy Wower, two of Granville's former students who, much to Hiro's surprise, reveal that Granville has been a teacher for longer than Hiro had thought.
Obake soon begins to test Hiro's intelligence, beginning by sending out Globby to make him feel useless, so Hiro decides to upgrade himself with super-strength to be less dependent on Baymax. Fred inadvertently causes a new danger to the city when he orders a gigantic robot Kentucky Kaiju and Noodle Burger Boy hacks into it, causing it to attack the city. With the advice of Mr. Frederickson, Hiro realizes he does not need to enhance himself and only needs to find his true inner strength, then uses his intelligence to stop the kaiju. Upon its destruction, Hiro finds a CPU Robot and starts to discern that someone else must be behind Globby and Noodle Burger Boy's attacks.
Big Hero 6 then come face-to-face with Obake in "Rivalry Weak" when Big Hero 6 help retrieve an important book which Obake stole from Honey Lemon. They meet him at a warehouse, but Obake remains unconcerned and traps them to further test their abilities and intelligence. When the team "pass" Obake's test, he returns the book and disappears.
Karmi's obsession with Big Hero 6, who she still is unaware are her classmates, grows and she starts making fan-fiction making Hiro (who she dubbed Captain Cutie) her lover. Obake also frees Momakase from prison following her previous encounter with the heroes and shows her his entire research on Big Hero 6, so she joins forces with Obake as well to get revenge on them. Hiro is annoyed by Karmi's stories, but cannot say a word as he would reveal his secret. On the other hand, Momakase kidnaps Karmi as she believes that Karmi is Hiro's actual girlfriend after having read her fan-fictions. Karmi is taken to Akuma Island, the very place Big Hero 6 first encountered Callaghan, as it was about to be demolished. When Hiro and the team get out, Karmi hugs Hiro and thanks him, so Hiro decides not to be mean and allows her to continue writing her stories since they had also helped the team in escaping and inspired them to obtain new abilities such as Baymax's Overdrive Mode. Regardless, Hiro is still uneasy about being depicted as Karmi's lover.
Globby also returns to the streets as a criminal, but Big Hero 6 is busy at class so Fred is the only one available to attempt stopping him. Instead, Fred causes a mess while chasing Globby, so Hiro comes up with Mini-Max: a robot resembling Baymax that would watch over Fred. Fred thinks of Mini-Max as his companion, and together they face Globby again. However, since Granville forbid Hiro from using the SFIT's lab after hours to program Mini-Max's chip, Hiro becomes suspecting of her and follows her to Good Luck Alley, narrowly escaping from Yama who he unexpectedly met.
Hiro's distrust to Granville becomes bigger due to her visit to the dangerous place, so he goes to visit the imprisoned Robert Callaghan to ask him about Granville. Callaghan tells Hiro that in the past, there was an incident involved Granville that made her quit her job. Hiro thanks Callaghan and immediately walks away, but Callaghan stops the boy to thank him about having saved Abigail and says he is sorry about what happened to Tadashi. Hiro becomes sorrowful to hear him say this and tells Callaghan that forgiving him would be what Tadashi wanted—hoping that, someday, he will be able to.
He then goes to the SFIT to keep spying on Granville, but is caught by her and the new Security System Robots. Granville shows Hiro the robots' CPU and tells him she had created them due to the rising wave of crime in San Fransokyo. Out of sudden, the robots turn against Hiro and Granville, so they go hide while help arrives. While waiting, Hiro questions Granville about her past and why she lied about being a recent SFIT teacher, so she reveals that the last time she allowed a student to use the lab after hours, he started a dangerous experiment and Granville felt guilty from it, leaving the SFIT due to it. Fred and Mini-Max get to the SFIT to beat the robots, because everyone else reasoned that Granville would easily discover their identities. Afterwards, Hiro talks with Granville and promises he would not end up like her student. Unknown to both, it was Obake who had hacked the Security System, and was listening to Granville and Hiro talk about "the student"—who turned out was him.
While Obake continues his plan in silence, Fred reveals his identity to his rival Richardson Mole, who figures out the rest of Big Hero 6's identities and threatens to reveal it to everyone unless he can join the team as well. Hiro agrees with no other choice and gives him a super-suit that was similar to Fred's, then the brand-new Big Hero 7 set off to stop High Voltage once more. After defeating the villains, Richardson Mole is electrocuted and causes memory loss on him, thus he stops being a menace to Big Hero 6 as he forgets their identities.
In "Big Problem", a bio-tech genius called Liv Amara visits SFIT to meet Hiro and Baymax, although Liv loses interest in both far too quickly when Hiro reveals he hadn't created Baymax. Instead, Liv befriends Karmi, causing Hiro to become jealous of her. Big Hero 6 also face Orso Knox, a man who mysteriously mutated into a beast, and after Karmi helps to incapacitate the monster Liv offers to try finding a cure for Knox at her company.
Hiro then becomes more intrigued in Obake's plan, but Wasabi's birthday was coming up so the team decide to recover his car from the bottom of the bay. At the same time, Baron Von Steamer returns to take revenge against Fred's father—formerly a superhero called Boss Awesome. In this occasion, Obake hacks Big Hero 6's communicators to help them into stopping Steamer because Steamer's plan would interfere with his own, and so the team incarcerate Von Steamer while at the same time they ponder why Obake would aid them.
In "The Bot-Fighter", Hiro's old ambitions would return when several heists involving battle bots were happening in San Fransokyo and some of Hiro's former bot-fighter friends were being framed for the crimes. Hiro thinks he should go undercover at bot fights to inquire about this, but during his visit at a competition, he meets Trina. Hiro is being dragged back to the illegal bot-fights thanks to Trina, even being arrested once more. When Cass shows concern about this and grounds Hiro, he decides to go back only once more and search for evidence at Yama's office, who they believed was responsible.
Upon finding out that Trina was actually behind the attacks, Hiro attempts to convince her from getting out of it and go with Big Hero 6 instead. Nevertheless, Trina refuses and activates a robot that attacks Big Hero 6 while she escapes. With Megabot's help, Hiro destroys Trina's bot and thanks his friends for having helped him, claiming that if it wasn't for them and Tadashi he might have ended up like Trina. It is then revealed that Trina is an android controlled by Obake, who used her to attempt having the boy join him. Seeing how important Tadashi was to Hiro, Obake's next step is to try manipulating Hiro with the memory of his deceased brother.
Obake implants digital imaging contact lenses into the human members of Big Hero 6 when they go to a haunted house attraction, causing Go Go, Wasabi, Fred and Honey Lemon to see their biggest fears, while Hiro began seeing Tadashi alive and walking around town. He is distracted by this while fighting Noodle Burger Boy and thereby allowing the robot to escape. When Noodle Burger Boy damages Baymax, Hiro starts repairing him at his garage but sees Tadashi again, thus follows him back to the haunted house which he visited earlier with his friends. In the house, Hiro and Tadashi start talking about what has happened since Tadashi's death, and then he tells Hiro to stop holding his genius back and to not fix Baymax anymore. Hiro however proves to be too smart as he knows that isn't something Tadashi would say, so he removes the lenses from his eyes and sees that Tadashi was never there.
The rest of the team are affected by the lenses as well, and become too distracted by their fears that Noodle Burger Boy steals an Hyperconducting Magnet from the SFIT for Obake without them intervening. Hiro is discouraged by this, but wonders how Obake could know so much about Tadashi. It is shown that Obake had also stolen some of Tadashi's test videos from when he was building Baymax, and with the hyperconducting magnet in his hands, he was closer to the final step of his plan.in: Big Hero 6 (Disney) characters, Humans, Males, and 4 more English Hiro Hamada Last edited by TVBrit (talk | contribs) 5 days ago (diff) Current size: 99761 bytes (+2) 55 Edit

Their home also served as Cass' business—a café titled Lucky Cat Café. Hiro never left San Fransokyo once[2], so he became accustomed to city life and knew his way around town. At some point when Hiro was still a young child, Cass got a new cat named Mochi, who Hiro grew to consider his own pet as well.
Child Hiro and Mochi Young Hiro and Mochi
Being a born genius, Hiro was greatly advanced from a young age and surpassed all of his peers—including his own brother—on a variety of intellectual planes to the point where he found himself regularly skipping grades in order to continue his own "education." Due to this, however, Hiro had issues socializing with kids his age, so he instead formed a close relationship with his brother Tadashi, who fully understood how he felt.
BH6 The Present still 1
On a Christmas day, Tadashi built a Snow Machine because snowing wasn't common where they lived.
Tadashi learned about this before Cass found out and became concerned for his brother, so he sewed mini-GPS systems into every one of Hiro's hoodies to keep track of him whenever he went out at night[6] so, if the need every presented itself, he could get Hiro out of trouble.
Official Description Robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada has the mind of a genius—and the heart of a 14-year old: his state-of-the-art battle-bots dominate the underground bot fights held in the dark corners of San Fransokyo. Fortunately, big brother Tadashi redirects Hiro's brilliance, inspiring him to put his brain to the test in a quest to gain admission to the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. When a tragic event changes everything, Hiro turns to a robot named Baymax, and they form an unbreakable bond—and two-sixths of a band of high-tech heroes on a very important mission.[7] Personality Hiro is a carefree and free-spirited boy with intelligence and understanding far beyond his years.
After Obake's defeat and subsequent disappearance, Hiro was left with certain anxiety: while most people who were involved with Obake believe that he did in fact die, Hiro still believes he could return someday, and because of this he constantly trains himself to be prepared for it.
Physical Appearance Hiro is a young teenager of approximately five feet tall with a lean and slender frame.
He moreover does not zip up his hoodie in the series.
Powers and Abilities
Hiro[8] AVG SUPER EXPT Intelligence 10 Strength 3 Speed 7 Durability 5 Energy 6 Fighting 3 Utility 8 Genius-level intellect: Hiro's true potential lies within his genius. Superhuman Strength: Hiro temporarily gained this ability in "Kentucky Kaiju" by creating a Nano-Dex shirt and wearing it along with his armor, after he felt useless for being the only Big Hero 6 member without attack gear. Equipment Watch: In the comic story Communication Breakdown, Hiro uses an advanced watch that also works as a phone.
In "Legacies", Hiro created dozens of Megabots controlled with his headband-integrated helmet to change the Buddy Guardians' programming. Battle Suits Hiro has created different kinds of armored suits for himself and his friends, some of which are used only for special occasions.
Hiro also uses goggles and the Sonic Wave Gauntlets along with it. Battle Suits History Big Hero 6 Baymax Returns Season 1 During the first season of Big Hero 6: The Series, Hiro balances his life as a new superhero with his student and civilian life.
It is shown that Obake had also stolen some of Tadashi's test videos from when he was building Baymax, and with the hyperconducting magnet in his hands, he was closer to the final step of his plan.
Countdown to Catastrophe Six months after Hiro joins the SFIT, his first semester is coming to an end and has to come up with a final project to be approved by Granville and shown at the SFIT Open House Expo.
Hiro reasons that Obake might be still alive yet claims it's impossible he could survive the crash, then Baymax tells him that, like Hiro himself had said, "nothing is impossible".
Relationships Family Tadashi Hamada - Tadashi is Hiro's older brother and the most important person in Hiro's life. Since their parents died before Hiro was old enough to remember them, Tadashi was the only person Hiro looked to for guidance and advice and was practically raised by him and their aunt. However, since Hiro had issues making friends his age due to his advanced intellect, Tadashi was his best and only friend as he understood Hiro better than anyone, and both even came up with a set of rules that only the two of them knew. Tadashi was the one to interest Hiro in robotics, and both brothers balanced each other well, as Hiro is more creative with his inventions while Tadashi was more practical and abider to the rules. Following Tadashi's death, Hiro fell into a depression that he managed to overcome thanks to Tadashi's friends and Baymax. Hiro then decided to honor his brother by following Tadashi's dream to help everyone in need by founding the superhero team Big Hero 6 with his friends. Aunt Cass - Cass is the aunt of Hiro and Tadashi, who became their legal guardian following the death of the kids' parents. She is very supportive and proud of Hiro's abilities, and although Hiro knows how much Cass loves him and tries her best to continue raising him, he tends to keep many secrets from her, primarily because he knows how easily she can stress out—such as his double-life as a superhero because he knows Cass would disapprove of it due to the risks it implies, especially considering Tadashi's death. Regardless, Cass continues to teach Hiro valuable life lessons whenever she can, such as teaching him how to move on with life, getting his first (legal) job, and making new friends. Hiro and Cass also spend time together as a family by watching movies and doing other activities on certain occasions when Cass isn't busy with work and Hiro is free from schoolwork—though this is often interrupted due to his secret life with Big Hero 6. Baymax - Their relationship started out basic: Hiro was impressed when Tadashi first introduced Baymax to him, though Hiro only saw the robot as his brother's school project and nothing more. Yet when Hiro and Baymax reunited, he was less than thrilled as Baymax served as a reminder of Tadashi's death. However, because Hiro unintentionally summoned Baymax when the former expressed pain, the robot viewed Hiro as his patient, becoming solely devoted to him and unable to dismiss himself until the boy was satisfied with his care, vocally expressing that fact. This led Baymax to carry out every small order given by Hiro, no matter how literal or sarcastic, in hopes of improving the boy's health, as a result of his programming. As time went on, Baymax's treatment towards Hiro began to change: The robot began learning and understanding the basics of human emotion, and a personal bond with Hiro began to form. His dedication towards his "patient" was no longer due to programming alone, but also because of a mutual love. In turn, Hiro grew to care for Baymax, who served as his ultimate form of comfort, a loving reminder of Tadashi and a nurturing companion. This is powerfully showcased when the duo found themselves trapped within Yokai's portal while trying to save Abigail Callaghan. While Baymax was willing to sacrifice himself, Hiro strongly refused, as he didn't have the strength to lose him like he lost Tadashi. Nevertheless, Hiro fought through his emotions using Baymax's lesson of overcoming loss, but not forgetting, allowing him to bid farewell to his companion, in addition to expressing his love for the first time through a hug. Following these events and Baymax's eventual revival, the duo remains as close as ever, forming a brotherly relationship and spending their days beside one another through all events, including their mission to protect the world in Tadashi's honor.Fred - The two of them were initially not close friends, but since the formation of Big Hero 6, they grew to become best friends: Fred was the most excited about becoming a real superhero due to his love of fictional superheroes and fantasy in general. This clicked with Hiro as he was also a fan of these things (though to a smaller degree), and after arresting Robert Callaghan and rebuilding Baymax, Hiro and Fred were the only ones who were fully committed to continuing being superheroes when the rest of their teammates initially refused. Knowing that Fred is the most laid-back and reckless of the team, Hiro constantly turns to him whenever he does things that the rest could disapprove of, but because of this both also get into trouble constantly, and in the end, it is their friends that get them out of it. Eventually, Fred and Hiro also started to spend more time together by playing videogames, watching films, and sharing other of their mutual interests. Go Go Tomago - Go Go is arguably the closest friend to the boy; unlike Fred, she is mature and more strict about the actions that Hiro takes—leading her to take on the role of a protective older sibling figure to him. Even when Hiro had trouble working with Wasabi, Go Go was the one who made them realize both were in the wrong trying to blame each other, and ordered them to work things out because they were still friends despite their differences, thus finally achieving this thanks to her. Yet, she knows when to cut Hiro some slack and is willing to accept his unorthodox methods if things work out. Wasabi - Wasabi often watches out for Hiro's health and physical well-being, but his overly-neat and perfectionist attitude also clashed with Hiro's more chaotic way of working, causing both friends to have problems at some point. After working things out, Wasabi and Hiro became closer friends and respected each other's differences. Honey Lemon - Tadashi had told Honey Lemon about Hiro before the two formally met. When Tadashi finally introduced Hiro to all his friends, Honey instantly let Hiro know how Tadashi had already told her a lot about him and happily showed the boy her chemistry projects. After the formation of Big Hero 6, she served as an enthusiastic supporter due to her positive attitude and keeps a good friendship with him. She is usually the first one to notice Hiro's emotions, such as his former jealousy towards Karmi, and when Hiro's feelings towards Karmi started to change, Honey Lemon was also the first one to notice and even cheered the fact they could potentially become a couple. Alistair Krei - The two had a basic relationship and became good acquaintances by the end of the film. Hiro first met Krei at the convention where he was showing off his Microbots and Krei immediately took an interest, hoping to buy the Microbots. However, Callaghan warned Hiro that Krei was known to cut corners and subtly manipulated Hiro to refuse. Krei was clearly disappointed. Later when Fred assumes that Krei was Yokai, Hiro dismissed it, saying that he's too high profile, possibly implying that he is highly respectful of Krei's public image. When Hiro went to an abandoned Krei lab to track down Yokai, he initially grew to believe Krei was Yokai but was proven wrong after taking Yokai's mask and learning it was Callaghan. He also learned that Krei's teleportation experiment resulted in an accident that presumably killed Abigail which eventually turned Callaghan into Yokai. Despite finding this out, Hiro didn't seem to hold a grudge against Krei for indirectly creating Yokai as he tried his best to protect him from the masked villain. This could be because he knew it was an accident or because he wanted to stop Yokai's plan for vengeance. Krei was ecstatic when the Big Hero 6 team came to rescue him and even openly stated his love of Baymax, apparently growing a true liking for the team following these events. After stopping Yokai, Hiro finds the portal still on, "We have to shut it down." Krei tells him they can't, "The containment field is failing, the portal is going to tear itself apart. When Hiro goes to save Abigail after Baymax confirms she's alive, Krei objects, likely showing concern for the boy's safety. However, Hiro assures him by telling him the same words that Tadashi had told him "Someone has to help." Krei seems to have learned his lesson and even built a showcase hall in Tadashi's honor, possibly as a way to make amends since he indirectly created Yokai and therefore was linked to Tadashi's death. Hiro accepted the honor on behalf of his late brother. Their relationship became more complicated when Krei learned their true identities and began using Big Hero 6 for his own goals, even getting to threatening them if they didn't help him. Hiro also started disliking Krei more when he went on a date with Aunt Cass, afraid they'd actually fall in love and Krei would become his uncle. Because of this, Hiro tried to ruin their date, but in the end Cass also learned about Krei's selfish attitude and held no interest in him anymore, much to Hiro's relief. Professor Granville - Hiro is Granville's protégé, although their relationship started off difficult because Granville was strict about trying to correct Hiro's chaotic ways, forcing him to befriend Karmi, and inadvertently trying to limit his genius out of fear he could end up like her former student Bob Aken. It turned even more complicated when Hiro discovered that Granville was keeping her past a secret from him for reasons unknown to him at the time. Soon, things became easier between them after Granville opened up to Hiro in order to gain his trust, revealing that she simply didn't want to repeat her past mistakes with him. It was then that Hiro slowly started to mature, seeing that Granville wasn't as strict or bad as he initially believed whilst also learning invaluable lessons from her. Karmi - Hiro's classmate and rival, he was both discouraged and often put out by Karmi's stuck-up attitude. Although both of them are sharing the spotlight as SFIT's youngest student with her held little importance to him, he often tried to get on Karmi's good side in a few episodes, but eventually played along with the civilian rivalry with little care. Also, he is embarrassed at the fact that though she hates his civilian form, she has a crush on his superhero alter-ego, not being able to distinguish the similarities between the two. However, their relationship has been shown to hint at friendly feelings, as shown in "Issue 188", where Hiro says that they have a lot in common, and that they could even be friends. Baymax then makes the situation awkward by drawing up a pubertic analysis explaining the connection between them. The hint that the two may not see each other as complete rival is demonstrated again in "Small Hiro One", where Hiro notices that Karmi is locked outside of Trengrove's class, and he apologizes for her misfortune, receiving the first kind gesture from her; a small smile that appears to comfort her. Once again, their relationship appears to ascend in "Fan Friction", where Karmi is kidnapped by Momakase, and he comes to her rescue in his superhero form. The two share a friendly moment later on, where Karmi hugs "Captain Cutie" Hiro out of joy, and he appears to accept the gesture. Hiro became jealous of Karmi when she impressed Liv Armara with her extradermal nanoreceptors because he told Liv that he did not create Baymax but Tadashi did and he also failed to impress Liv with the big thermometer that he build for his bio-tech project and he has been keeping tabs of him and Karmi. According to Hiro, Karmi has negative accomplishments because everything that she does is the worst. Once Karmi returns to San Fransokyo in "Big Chibi 6", Hiro mentions that he is glad she is doing okay. During a battle, Hiro tells Karmi that he trusts her, letting her defeat Hardlight with her new invention inspired by his skill in programming. Afterwards, they share an awkward moment in which they subconsciously touch each other while speaking, and then almost lean in for a kiss, it seems. However, Karmi pulls away (Hiro is clearly dejected), saying that she no longer has a crush on his superhero alter-ego, but instead likes someone else, hinted to be Hiro. He blushes and smiles.Yokai - Being a world-renowned scientist and personal mentor of Tadashi, Hiro initially looked up to Professor Callaghan, showing great respect and admiration towards him. Impressed by Hiro's knowledge, Callaghan was able to slyly convince the boy genius to give up bot-fighting to join the Institute to "challenge himself." It is possible he did this knowing of Hiro's intelligence and wanted him to apply to the school in hopes of stealing one of his inventions (though this is up for debate). Hiro impressed Callaghan at the convention with his Microbots and Callaghan warned him against accepting Krei's offer, manipulating him to say no. When Callaghan was "trapped" in the burning building, Tadashi went in to save him, losing his life in the process. When Hiro discovered Callaghan had started the fire to steal the Microbots and refused to save Tadashi (showing no concern for Tadashi's life or the fact he tried to save him) Hiro was willing to kill the professor as revenge and was only stopped by his team's intervention. However, after Baymax calms him down, he realized his beloved brother wanted to help people, not hurt them, thus realizing he needed to bring Callaghan to justice without harm. Hiro soon learned from his teammates that Callaghan has suffered the loss of his daughter Abigail (thanks to Krei's misuse of the portal technology that led to her apparent death) and that Callaghan only stole the microbots as part of his true plan to get revenge on Krei. When Hiro confronted Callaghan once again, he tried to reason with him, admitting that he does feel sorry for him and understands the pain of loss and wanted to give the same support his teammates provided him with. However, a bitter Callaghan, while he did show a hint of regret, refused to back down and battled the boy genius, in hopes of killing him. After destroying the Microbots, thus leaving Callaghan powerless, Hiro made the ultimate decision to spare the former professor's life, having set aside his thirst for vengeance in exchange for the moral codes of Tadashi and Baymax. Not only that, he also made the choice to risk his own life to successfully save Callaghan's daughter, after discovering she was still alive within the portal. Though Callaghan showed no forward gratitude towards the hero, he met his defeat through imprisonment, and presumably permanent separation from his only loved one, finally receiving punishment for all the damage he's done, as well as granting Hiro closure. However, Callaghan's expression at the end implies that he shows remorse for what he had done, ultimately realizing that what Hiro said is right about the consequences of getting revenge. Regardless, in the series, when Hiro visits Callaghan in prison to get information about Professor Granville for a case he was working on, Callaghan finally gets to tell him, "What happened to Tadashi because of me, I know it's not enough, but I'm sorry." Hiro reveals that he has not forgiven him but hopes that someday he will be able to. The emotional core of Big Hero 6 is driven by four key characters, their arcs, and the relationships they share with one another, being Hiro, Tadashi, Baymax, and Callaghan. As such, Callaghan serves as an omen of what Hiro would have become if he allowed his pain to consume him. However, unlike Callaghan, Hiro has friends and family who supported him through the ordeal and reminded him justice, not vengeance, is the answer. This ultimately classified Callaghan as a villain and Hiro as a hero. Obake - Hiro and Obake are very much alike. Both are scientific geniuses ahead of their time with great potential. However, their ambitions to achieve success leads them to pushing the limits. When Obake first heard about Hiro, he began to develop an interest in him. Impressed by his intellect, he wanted Hiro to join his side and make him his student once his plan to rebuild San Fransokyo was complete.
- #2Go-Go
Keys: Go-Go
Not much is known about Go Go's early life, but it can be assumed she has had a passion for speed and its vehicular applications since before she began attending San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, where she majors in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design. Go Go is an accomplished racer; ever since she was a child, Go Go has had a passion for racing, having won several races (including getting placed twice in the San Fransokyo Criterium). She enrolled at City Honors Academy during her high school years and eventually found her way to the university that she attends in the present day.
She lives in a neighborhood known for having many criminals lurking around, although it doesn't appear to be a thing that worries her due to her toughness.Aptly named, Go Go Tomago knows what it takes to be fast. She's tough, athletic and loyal to the bone, but not much of a conversationalist. Popping bubble gum and delivering well-placed sarcasm is totally her speed. The daredevil adrenaline junkie is at her best on wheels, and when Go Go joins forces with Big Hero 6, she rolls like never before, using maglev discs as wheels, shields and throwing weapons. [3]Go Go is a rather short, fair-skinned young woman of Korean descent[4] with a curvaceous yet bottom-heavy figure. She has brown eyes, scruffy black bob-cut hair with violet streaks on her bangs, and makeup which consists of lavender eyeshadow, light blush, and subtle dust-pink lipstick.
In terms of attire, she is notably seen in clothing meant for fitness and physical activity. At the very least, her main clothing consists of a cropped, elbow-length, dark gray leather jacket over a white undershirt (sometimes replaced with a tank top that also acts as her sleepwear), black sport-shorts with red stripes on the sides, fashionably-ripped dark gray capri leggings with violet patches underneath, and a pair of black trainer-shoes with indigo-blue stripes above the white soles. She accessorizes with black bare-knuckle gloves, and a white-striped violet sweatband on her left wrist.
In her superhero persona, Go Go wears a rather close-fitting, yellow suit of armor with maglev discs on her wrists and boots (each sporting a red spot in the center) and a matching helmet, with black skin-tight underclothing with thin red linings. Her suit received a few alterations in the TV series - Her visor was changed from transparent to a purple/magenta tint, and the armor on her upper arms are obsolete and the armor on her hands have been replaced with finger holes on her hands.Go Go is a heroine in the form of a woman governed by silence and experience. A straightforward athlete, Go Go lives for the speed and thrill life has to offer and is willing to take up the challenges that come.
Compared to her teammates, she is quite reserved, introverted, and sardonic, making up for her lack of conversation with irony and sarcasm. Due to her athleticism, Go Go is resourceful in situations with and without the use of powers. She is also quite adaptive, most notably she utilized her newfound abilities proficiently when battling Yokai one-on-one, despite only recently learning how to use her suit. However, as a result of her tastes, Go Go has developed a sarcastic attitude, making her not the most approachable person to be around.
She is no-nonsense and has little patience for those who will not take things seriously or move too slowly. She is quite strong-willed and ultimately protective of her friends. Even though she can have a hard time dealing with them, she will put their safety above all else, especially to the possibility of failure. When under such a circumstance, she drops everything and becomes serious, quickly taking control of a situation by sheer will and determination. Indeed, she becomes an effective leader when the team needs help, carefully choosing what to say to her friends to get them to act.
Go Go tends to be sarcastic, recalcitrant, uncooperative, and reckless, much to Wasabi's ire and is known to head into a fight without thinking. She is also incredulous, to the point that she is not willing to accept limits, and at worst she can be highly opinionated. But deep down, Go Go is noble and honorable, so she will not condone an unscrupulous act. Her honor evidently surfaced when she stood against Hiro when his desire to avenge Tadashi made him resort to killing Yokai in cold blood.
However, what lies behind her thick shell is perhaps an immensely compassionate heart towards her friends. For instance, she personally hugged Hiro to comfort him after the latter realized the error of his actions, understanding the emotional toll Hiro had gone through and reminding him there is always a better way than revenge. Despite her initial refusing, Go Go becomes a superheroine for Big Hero 6 and provide her friends the determination they need to preserve and protect San Fransokyo. She is the closest to Hiro out of the team, aside from Baymax.
She is frequently shown chewing gum, but in a dangerous situation, she will take the gum out and stick it somewhere. This was shown during the car chase with Yokai where, tired of Wasabi's by-the-book driving, took the wheel to help the team escape Yokai. Then, when she and the team were confronting Yokai at Krei Tech and she was trapped in a sphere of Microbots, she spits out her gum and put it on the side of her helmet as she spun her way out of the sphere.
One thing she kept a secret from her friends was that she enjoyed going to Muirahara Woods by herself to watch birds and draw them as it relaxes and put her in a good mood. When her friends found out, she felt upset having to confess it because of how different it is to her tough attitude and even though they did not mind and offered to try it with her sometime, she angrily refused by saying it was her alone thing.
Despite her tough status, Go Go will rarely let loose and gush over things, such as in "Something Fluffy" when she temporarily baby talks with a Mayoi, calling it her "fuzzy wuzzy".Go Go has no supernatural powers, but her athletic prowess and expertise on mechanical engineering arguably makes her the muscle of Big Hero 6 (besides Baymax for obvious reasons). Because of this, she has unique abilities suited to her field.
Professional-level athleticism: Go Go is physically fit; according to tie-in material, she is a triathlete and participates in a number of sports, including kickboxing and ultimate frisbee. Expert driving skills: Go Go is a resourceful and adaptive driver with any vehicle. She was able to ride a bike she created in San Fransokyo Tech to such a degree that she was able to ride it across the lab at high speeds dodging potential hazards. In addition, she was able to maneuver Wasabi's minivan with sharp focus throughout the streets of nighttime San Fransokyo, even when captured inside a Microbot-composed tunnel. Advanced engineering skills: Go Go is highly intelligent and knowledgeable in the field of mechanical engineering and electromagnetism. She strove to create a bike with intense, almost unimaginable speed. She has already made several bikes capable of accomplishing high velocity, though she had yet to perfect one that met her expectations. With her suit, Go Go achieves a set of speed-based abilities:
Enhanced Speed: The suit helps Go Go manipulate her velocity to reach speeds faster than a common athlete can achieve. With her mag-lev discs, the high speed can be used for offense as they will make the discs become incredibly cutting, heated and powerful, enabling her to tear through hard objects but only at a proper momentum. Moving at these speeds also allows Go Go to build up enough force to create powerful impacts when colliding with her opponent. Enhanced Agility: Go Go's agility is heightened in this form. She can quickly change her form in rapid response, to the point that she can perform complex attacks efficiently. Enhanced Reflexes: Go Go can detect dangers faster than an ordinary human can. Thanks to her suit, she can react quick enough to dodge, coordinate and maneuver obstacles with ease. Veloci-Shot: A move learned from Karmi's fan-fiction story about Big Hero 6, which allows her to skate up walls.Go Go's battle suit is based on her science experiment seen during her introduction at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. This suit incorporates her bike design and the same electromagnetic wheels to achieve speed.
Mag-Lev Discs: Flat circular disks held together and controlled via electro-mag suspension. These discs are primarily attached to Go Go's boots and serve every aspect as motorcycle wheels, which in turn act as rollar skates that give Go Go her trademark of as a speed racer. Beyond transportation, the disks act as Go Go's means of both offense and defense. They can shield her from concussive attacks and they can be flung to opponents like chakrams and magnetically return to the suit after hitting their target, causing large damage to the target in the process. Wired Discs: Some of her discs have wires inside them, and the discs split open after being thrown, allowing to tangle foes like a multi-bolo. Hoverdisc: Go Go received this disc to go with her Ultra armor. The disc itself is initially the size of her normal discs, but it can expand to become a platform Go Go can ride on and hover through the air. It also allows Go Go to spin in the air like a cyclone. Hyper-cycle: A sleek motorcycle that combines the mechanics of Go Go's discs with Go Go's racing skills. It has traction on all surfaces, allowing it to scale buildings. The vehicle comes equipped with a targeting system that fires a disruptor capable of short-circuiting any vehicle it hits. Motorcycle: She has a motorcycle that she rides to go to Muirahara Woods for bird-watching. Pocket knife: A small knife which Go Go owns. She used it in "Muirahara Woods" to release Hiro and Fred from a net.Go Go has used different armored suits on special occasions.
Super Armor: The first armor she was given when she first became a member of Big Hero 6. Forest Armor: She created an armor with wood and forest items to save Hiro, Baymax, and Fred from Ned Ludd. Ultra Armor: Hiro made an upgraded titanium armor that closely resembled her original one, but was silver and had some yellow trimming. In Season 2, this armor is repainted, where the silver and dark gray parts are now yellow and black, respectively. Submarine Armor: Hiro designed an underwater armor for Go Go sometime after creating one for himself and another for Baymax. The gauntlets are equipped with jet propulsion engines in lieu of Go Go's discs from her regular suit. One night at the university, Go Go barrels into the Ito Ishioka Robotics Lab on a maglev suspended bike, offering a brisk "heads up" to Hiro as she tears past him through the entrance. Seemingly heedless of anything else, she wastes no time dismounting and hanging up her bike for immediate refining, not even wasting time to remove her helmet until she spots an impressed Hiro appreciating her work. After Tadashi introduces Hiro as his brother, she gives him a snarky and plain-faced greeting, saying, "Welcome to the Nerd Lab," insinuating she had heard the nickname Hiro gave the robotics lab on his way in or had known about it beforehand.
Go Go is next seen helping Hiro prepare for his presentation at SFIT by hauling in a bin of his microbots. After his success, she joins her friends in congratulating him before leaving to give him and Tadashi some time alone to talk. Shortly afterward, a raging fire starts in the university and Tadashi is killed trying to save Professor Callaghan. She and her friends are present at the Hamada household comforting the mourning family on the day of the funeral and they made heartfelt efforts to reach out to Hiro after he neglected to attend classes.
Despite her failed attempts to reach out to Hiro, she and her friends spot him and Baymax running through an alley at night. After catching up to them in Wasabi's car, she notices Baymax's gear and asks Hiro why he is dressed up in what she refers to as "carbon fiber underpants." Amongst other questions and chatter, Hiro breaks in and insists for her and their friends' safety that they should not be there. Suddenly, Yokai appears and throws a storage crate on top of them. They are saved by Baymax and the team takes off towards the car. Hiro stays with Baymax in order to confront Yokai, but Go Go grabs his arm and pulls him with her before shoving him into the car with everyone else, saving his life. Taken aback, Hiro asks her what she is doing and she responds aggressively that she was saving his life. Hiro assures her that Baymax could handle the threat, but without his guidance, the robot is unsurprisingly dealt with and immediately crashes into the hood of the car. Wasabi peels off in an attempt to lose their pursuer but stops at a red light in an attempt to abide by the law. Instantly furious, Go Go incredulously asks Wasabi why he has stopped before screaming that "there are no red lights in a car chase" and later, after he takes the time to put his signal light on, finds her patience utterly broken and forces the wheel away from him. Sticking her gum to the dashboard, she takes control of the vehicle and leads Yokai on a wild car chase, actually managing to lose him from time to time. However, before she knows it, she finds herself barreling towards the edge of a broken road and drives the team right off the ledge and into the San Fransokyo Bay.
Thanks to Baymax, the team survives as he sheds his armor and floats them to the top. Cold and wet, Fred leads them to a mansion that he reveals to be his house. Hearing this, Go Go sarcastically remarks she thought he lived under a bridge. After using Baymax to warm up, Go Go and the team listens to Fred as he dramatically reveals that he believes Alistair Krei is the masked man who was chasing them. Baymax then chimes in, revealing that he scanned the man while they were escaping earlier. Sardonically, Go Go states that even with Baymax's scanner, he'd have to scan everyone in the city until they found a match. Hiro disagrees, opting instead for the simpler solution of upgrading Baymax's scanner. He then doubles back, saying that if they were really going to try and catch Yokai, all of them would need to be "upgraded." While eager to help, Wasabi and Honey Lemon voiced their worries about the situation they would be getting themselves into, but the fearless Go Go stands with Hiro and puts her trust in him, reminding everyone that Tadashi was their best friend. One by one her friends come around and the team Big Hero 6 is born.
Hiro builds each member a specialized suit with unique abilities based off of their latest projects from school. As such, Go Go's battle-suit is accompanied by electromagnetic discs, capable of causing great damage when thrown to a specific target. Being magnetic, the suit also summons the discs back to the armor immediately after coming to contact with the specific target. Not only that, Go Go can also use the wheels located on her heels to move about with tremendous speed and velocity. Though it takes her a while, Go Go, like the rest of the members, eventually masters her suit's abilities. The group sets off to an abandoned island, where Baymax has tracked Yokai's whereabouts through body temperatures and other health-related attributes. Once they arrive, they stumble across an abandoned, sealed off facility, which was once used by Alistair Krei to build and showcase his latest invention; a teleportation portal. After a disastrous incident resulting in the supposed death of the test pilot, Abigail, the facility was shut down.
This leads the team to believe Krei is the one responsible for the theft of Hiro's Microbots and that he is trying to rebuild his portal. Just then, Yokai arrives and makes another attempt to exterminate the team. They successfully escape his attacks and the battle ensues. Whilst Fred and Wasabi are taken down easily, Go Go proves to be a challenge for the masked villain and the two engage in personal combat. Throughout the fight, Go Go tries to use her discs to unmask Yokai, but he successfully manages to keep his identity in check until Hiro intervenes. Once unmasked, Yokai is revealed to be Professor Callaghan. Callaghan revealed he used Hiro's Microbots to survive the fire, and when Hiro explains that Tadashi had died as a result of his actions, Callaghan coldly retorts by blaming Tadashi for his own demise. This leads Hiro to order Baymax to murder Callaghan, blinded by fury. Go Go is the first to jump into action, fending off a mindless Baymax to save Callaghan's life. Wasabi and Fred assist as well and in the mix of the chaos, Callaghan escapes. Fortunately, Honey is able to restore Baymax's original programming, to bring the kind bot back to his senses.
Immediately after the incident, Hiro scolds the team for letting Callaghan escape, but Go Go scolds Hiro in return. Calling him out for his murderous actions, the team agreed they never intended to kill Callaghan, rather, bring him to justice. Hiro fails to listen, completely blinded by the memories of Tadashi's death, and leaves the scene with Baymax, abandoning Go Go and the others on the island. Fortunately, Heathcliff is able to return them to San Fransokyo on the family's helicopter, and the team heads to Hiro's home.
Understanding his actions were only out of despair and he apologizes for his anger blinding him, Go Go comforts the boy with a hug, promising to take down Callaghan no matter what and the team forgives him, Honey then shows Hiro a recording they found back on the island, which reveals Abigail was actually Callaghan's daughter, and his motives are driven by revenge on Alistair Krei. With this new knowledge, the team sets out to Krei's showcase where Callaghan attacks and reveals his plot to destroy both Krei and everything he holds dear to his heart. The team arrives in the nick of time, and a battle ensues. Annoyed by their interference, Callaghan makes another attempt of disposing of the young heroes, imprisoning Go Go in a metallic bubble made of Microbots, slowly enclosing the space in hopes of crushing her to death. With the rest of the team set to suffer similar fates, they call out to Hiro for help. The young boy, remembering the wise words of Tadashi, advises the group to use their brains to figure a way out. Go Go comes up with the idea of using her intense speed to free herself, which she manages to do so, successfully. Once she does, she and the others head to the Microbots, using their abilities to destroy them, thus, disarming Callaghan's ultimate source of power.
Once they managed this, Callaghan is apprehended and the machine is taken down but on the verge of exploding. The team, along with Krei and Callaghan, begin to retreat, but Baymax senses life within the portal (Abigail), and he and Hiro set out to rescue the civilian. Later, Hiro returns with Abigail but sadly reveals that Baymax had sacrificed his life to get them out of the unstable portal. The team leaves the scene with Callaghan suffering time in prison for his crimes. Afterwards, they are praised for their heroic efforts, though their identities remain a mystery to the public. Even so, they continue to spend time together, forming close bonds with Hiro.
At the school, Hiro is taken on a tour for his first class day, then after discovering Baymax's programming chip survived the destruction, Hiro is able to recreate the lovable robot. Meanwhile, Fred tries convincing Wasabi, Go Go and Honey Lemon into being superheroes once more, but Go Go refuses by saying it was a one-time thing, and that supervillains do not actually exist. Still, the four of them go out for night patrol, and stop a car going at high speed believing it was stolen, only to find out it was a couple rushing to the hospital, so Go Go, Wasabi, and Honey go back frustrated and angry. On the other hand, Baymax's exo-skeleton had fallen into the hands of Mr. Yama, who later captures Hiro and Fred as well when they tried to get the body back. When Go Go, Wasabi, and Honey tried to invite Hiro to go eat at Noodle Burger, Baymax's consciousness in a computer tells them he had gone to Yama's, so the trio gear up and save their friends.
After this, Hiro tells them Yama had blackmailed him into stealing a paperweight from one of their professor's desk, but Hiro got it back and returned it. Fred also thought that now they would really want to continue being superheroes, even coming up with the name "Big Hero 6," but once more they all said no. Still, they had to suit up for battle one more time when they found out that Baymax Clones created by Yama were attacking the city, so they got to the scene and fought the evil robots. Afterward, they go to the SFIT where they meet Hiro and Baymax, who found out that Yama returned for the paperweight. The team then have to stop a train over-charged with energy from the mysterious paperweight and after succeeding, the team decides it is best to look out for the people of San Fransokyo, thus reforming their superhero team and officially becoming Big Hero 6.
- #3Fred
Keys: Fred
Fred is the son of a wealthy couple from the city of San Fransokyo. He was named after his father Frederick Frederickson III, who was a famous superhero known as Boss Awesome during his youth but retired from his career before his son was born, deciding to keep his alter-ego a secret from him. Despite being unaware of his father's past, Fred took a deep interest in superheroes and other forms of fiction from a young age, and he usually fantasized about it. This behavior, however, also caused problems—especially for his mother, as she often took Fred to fancy events that typically ended in disaster due to Fred trying to emulate fictional characters and monsters. These actions also started a rivalry between Mrs. Frederickson and Binky Mole, as Mrs. Frederickson always tried to impress Binky in every possible occasion. Eventually, the rivalry grew, and more members of the Mole family despised the Fredericksons.
At the same time, Heathcliff—a close friend of Mr. Frederickson during his superhero years who also worked as the family's personal butler—watched Fred grow and looked after him his whole life. At 8-years-old, Fred had a toy car lodged in his ear canal which was never removed and he blames it for messing with his equilibrium[3]. During his teen years, Fred's parents started to spend less time with him, as they often had to leave for business or went on vacations to the family-owned private isles. It is then that Fred and Heathcliff became closer friends, though Heathcliff always stayed professional and continued to refer to him as "Master Frederick". When Mr. and Mrs. Frederickson are away, Fred and Heathcliff are left in charge of the family mansion and their vast wealth, and so the young man is free to spend its resources however he pleases. Most of the time, he uses the opportunity to indulge his obsession with comic books, Japanese monsters and movies, and other interests.
Fred also enjoyed watching the TV shows Bright Lights, Loud Noises and Wendy Wower's Science Hour since his childhood, still being a fan of both shows in his current age, despite the fact they are programs for younger kids. Both programs drew Fred into science—though he did not obtain any scientific knowledge from them whatsoever. Instead, Fred attended SF State as an English major, where he took full advantage of their "Two Schools, One City" credit-exchange program by auditing a dozen of their best survey courses, and dedicated an extraordinary amount of time to charity and volunteer work for organizations such as Brothers From Other Mothers, Habitat For Families, SF Food Pantry and many others[2]. At some point he also learned to play sitar[4]. Yet, Fred eventually decided to apply at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology for the position of Mascot, rather than student, as a way to express his "passion" for science (although this seems to be towards science-fiction and not actual science). With the help of a recommendation letter from SF State and his parents donating a large sum of money to SFIT, Fred was admitted into the prestigious university even with his lack of scientific knowledge.
Upon joining SFIT, Fred befriended Tadashi Hamada, Go Go Tomago, Wasabi and Honey Lemon, with the last three receiving their respective nicknames from Fred: for example, Wasabi spilled wasabi on his shirt a single time, but the nickname stuck ever since. Despite his wealth, Fred never once bragged about it to his new friends, with Go Go even concluding that she thought Fred lived under a bridge because he had poor hygiene. Fred also learned about the school rivalry between SFIT and the San Fransokyo Art Institute, participating in their yearly "rivalry week" and coming to despise SFAI's mascot, Sabatini the Sea Snail.
The Frederickson-Mole feud also continued when Richardson Mole became Fred's rival (although Richardson is far younger than Fred) as both shared the same interests in comics, but constantly tormented one another. Richardson was also presumed to cut the electricity at Fred's house one time when Fred was about to win an online auction, because Richardson ended up winning instead. An enthusiastic comic book fan, Fred is incredibly eccentric, zany, childish, and rather boisterous. Nevertheless, he has a very lovable and friendly persona, with his own sense of humor and is extremely laid-back, especially when compared to his friends. Due to his nature, he is quite optimistic and not prone to panic easily, so he can see the brighter side of things, even in the midst of a disaster. Though the other members of the team ultimately care a great deal for Fred, they have found him to be overbearing with his erratic quirks, especially Wasabi and Go Go, the former finding Fred's lack of regard borderline annoying and the latter seeing him as an idiot.
He is shown to be a huge otaku and fanatic of all things heroic, fantastic, and monstrous. He indulges in collecting a variety of memorabilia devoted to comic books and Japanese entertainment in his room. He also has a habit of calling out his attacks in battle, like that of an anime hero. Another of his "fanboy" characteristics is that he likes to make up "shipping names", which is merging two person's names together to refer to them if they were a couple.
Though his intelligence is not as high as his teammates and his understanding of science is mildly questionable, he is not an idiot and is studying English instead of science, which requires clear logical thought. And being the only human member who is not a scientist on the team, Fred is often also the one constituent of Big Hero 6 most likely to think "outside of the box" if circumstances be willing. What he lacks in scientific knowledge, he makes up with acute and deductive reasoning due to his passion and he can quickly analyze the circumstances of the situation from his knowledge of comic books and storytelling, giving him an unorthodox, but valuable way of thinking for the team. Because of this, Fred could well be a genius in his own field.
Because of his eccentric behavior, he has a lack of hygiene and all of Big Hero 6 was surprised by the fact he was wealthy. Go Go even sarcastically stated she thought he lived under a bridge.
Despite his energetic and positive personality, it is shown that Fred tends to get lonely because his parents are not always around as they are usually on vacation. Fred most likely hangs out with his friends because he considers them a second family to him and keep him company. Although he is wealthy, Fred is also incredibly generous and charitable, according to tie-in material he participates in charity work during his spare time and allows his friends to stay in his mansion to rest and train their abilities.
Fred is also a compulsive eater; whenever he feels guilty or too angry, he eats crackers in a nervous and fast way.Fred is a tall, shaggy, often hunched and lean young man with light brown hair and blue eyes with an overall unkempt appearance. His casual outfit consists of a white long-sleeved undershirt, a light red T-shirt with a Japanese kaiju monster imprint, dark green OD cargo shorts, and white grime-covered sneakers with dark green laces. He also wears a teal hat with a monster's face and a small Kentucky Kaiju-inspired pendant around his neck.
Fred has worn similar clothes ever since he was a child, including his hat. He only changes his underwear once every few months and turns them inside out. It is hinted that his father taught him this because both said the phrase "I wear 'em front, I wear 'em back, I go inside out, then I go front and back" at the same time when Mr. Frederickson showed one of his superhero briefs.
In his superhero form, he wears a battlesuit designed after a traditional Kaiju monster, particularly his favorite kaiju Krogar. The beast's skin has the colors blue and orange with limbs of a lighter shade of blue. On its body are flame-shaped spines and a back covered in spikes. In addition to having black, spiky, claw-like nails, the suit has a tail with similar features, while its head has two sets of horns and three fierce-looking eyes (with the top one acting as Fred's access to vision). Its four-fanged "mouth" is the only opening the suit has. The soles of the suit's feet enable Fred to perform high jumps.Out of all the members of Big Hero 6, Fred has only average intelligence, but is a scholar when it comes to any sort of comic book lore. His "Fredzilla" super suit is designed to look like a Kaiju (or Japanese monster) and gifts him abilities similar to one.
Multilingualism: Besides English, Fred can also speak Spanish, though it appears he is still learning it since in the film, he says "mi casa," claiming it is French and translates it incorrectly as "front door" when in reality it means "my house" in Spanish. However, later on, he correctly says words or phrases in different occasions like calling his mother "madre" and saying "caliente, muy caliente" when eating hot nachos; coincidentally enough, Karmi gave her fictionalized version of Fred (Flame Jumper) the catchphrase "Things are about to get muy caliente." Encyclopedic comic book knowledge: Fred is profound in comic book fiction, from being able to readily identify comic book tropes to quickly realizing underlying narrative of the situation at hand. In addition, Fred is an English major, giving him a talent for understanding fiction and writing. Surprisingly enough, many times his knowledge on comic tropes has helped the team in finding and stopping villains. Spinning skills: As the school mascot, Fred is extremely dexterous and fast with spinning signs. When spinning a metal board to fight off swarms of Microbots, this skill becomes surprisingly effective. Lighting a board on fire and twirling it at high speeds also makes it a formidable weapon. Dancing capabilities: He learns dance styles from Baymax's dance mode for his bro-tillion. Fred can use these moves to evade attacks. Tickling maneuver: A badly executed version of his father's "Five Finger Poke" move, which he uses to tickle instead of causing paralysis, even though it can incapacitate the opponent due to how much laughter it causes them. With the suit, Fred gains the following abilities.
Super-Jumping: The endo- and exo-skeleton enables Fred to jump incredibly high. Claws: The suit's claws can be used for attacks. Fire Breath: The suit has a flamethrower installed just below Fred's chest, and is released from the mouth of the suit. The flames are quite heated, being hot enough to melt steel. Smokescreen: Fred can generate smoke from his flamethrower. Night Vision: The suit's lens helps Fred see in darker areas. Flame Resistance: The suit is woven from Kevlar material, making it fireproof to protect Fred from flames generated by his flamethrower or from other sources. In his Ultra Armor, Fred additionally obtains more abilities:
Headlights: The upgraded version of the ultra armor provides Fred with headlight panels extending from the armor's back. These panels can temporarily blind anyone who looks at them. Sound amplifier: Fred's suit can pick up sounds from a distance and play them back in a recording, giving him virtual super-hearing. While using his Fredmeleon suit, he obtains different abilities than the kaiju suit.
Camouflage: It allows him to turn invisible or change his suit's appearance. In Fred the Fugitive, it's shown if his invisibly is shorted out then he’ll be locked in. Adhesive/Prehensile tongue: The tongue is very long and can be shot like a harpoon to instantly stick onto whatever it hits, allowing him to ensnare enemies, or save someone. Prehensile tail: The tail can be used to grip and hold onto almost anything. Wall-sticking: Enables Fred to climb walls.Fred has used different suits for special occasions.
Fredzilla Suit: His default suit that protects him and grants him abilities. Uses it while on superhero duty. Ultra Armor: Fred and Big Hero 6 were given upgraded titanium armors so they could fight a monster who had attacked the team. Fred's armor was nearly the same than his first suit, but was silver and the spikes on the back could retract. In Season 2, this armor is repainted, where the suit is now black and the crest is blue. Boss Awesome Armor: Fred wore his father's costume to trick Baron Von Steamer into believing he was Boss Awesome. Fredmeleon Suit: A new suit that gives him abilities based on a chameleon's capabilities, but doesn't include the Kaiju suit's powers. The suit uses Flexible Display Technology to camouflage. Kentucky Kaiju Suit: A suit identical to Kentucky Kaiju which Fred used for practice with his teammates. One night, at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, Fred is in the midst of practicing his mascot routines in the school's student lab, when he meets the younger brother of his friend Tadashi, Hiro Hamada, whom he accidentally startles. He assures Hiro, "Don't be alarmed, it is just a suit. This is not my real face and body." Upon inquiring the fanboy's major, Fred explains he is not a student, but a major science enthusiast, nonetheless. Fred then begins to reminisce the occasions he asked Honey to concoct a formula capable of turning him into a fire-breathing lizard, and the occasion he asked Wasabi to create a shrink ray, only to have his requests rebuffed, leading him to come up with yet another idea: an invisible sandwich, much to the annoyance of his friends. As time would pass, Fred and the others would come to befriend Hiro, spending time with the young genius on occasion, alongside Tadashi, specifically to help create his latest invention, the Microbots, which he hopes will grant him enrollment within the university by showcasing it to the school's head professor, Robert Callaghan. On the night of the convention, Fred tags along to give support having incredible faith in Hiro and the Microbots and, since it was brought up by Wasabi, tells how he saves underwear, "I go front, I go back, I go inside out, and then I go front and back." to mostly everyone's disgust although Tadashi tells him, "Wow! That is both disgusting and awesome!" Fortunately, the invention is a success, and they even catch the eye of tech-guru, Alistair Krei, who expresses interest in purchasing the creations, only to gain rejection much to his dismay.
After Krei's departure and Hiro's enrollment letter is bestowed, Fred and the others head to the Lucky Cat Café for free celebratory dinner, courtesy of Hiro and Tadashi's aunt, Cass, much to Fred's excitement, "Nothing is better than free food." Unfortunately, that same night, Tadashi was killed in a horrible fire whilst trying to save Professor Callaghan from a burning building. Fred and the others give their support to the Hamada family during the dark hours, whilst also offering to take Hiro under their wings, wanting him to still join them at the university. Unfortunately, their calls are ignored, and Hiro remains in despair, alone.
One night, Fred and the others are contacted by Tadashi's healthcare robot, Baymax, who believed having his friends over would help Hiro in overcoming his depression. When the friends make their way to the Hamada household, they find Hiro and Baymax wandering about the streets. They then learn that Hiro's Microbots were stolen by a villainous man wearing a mask, named Yokai, and the former and Baymax were in the process of tracking him down. Just then, Yokai attacks and a car chase ensues. While the team is oblivious to the villain's drive to kill them, Fred (who takes joy in being part of an intense action scene) channels his love of comics and quickly figures they've seen too much, leaving them targets for Yokai's wrath.
Nevertheless, the group manages to escape, finding themselves accidentally thrown off the road and into a bay. Sensing the need for warm shelter, Baymax requests a place of refuge, and Fred takes his friends to a mansion in the middle of the city, which he claims to be his home. Believing it to be a joke, Go Go stresses her frustration, until Fred's butler, Heathcliff, arrives and welcomes the team in. Fred assures them, "we'll be safe in here." The group then engage themselves in a brief tour of the beautiful home, led by Fred, until they're guided to the former's private quarters; a lounge room filled with collectible figures of comic characters, statues, arcade games, and mildly unsettling "self-portraits" of Fred, himself.Once settled, Hiro ponders on the identity of Yokai, though the team is at a loss for answers. Fred, however, believes the culprit to be Alistair Krei, "Krei wanted your microbots and you said no. Rules don't apply to a man like Krei." Fred's ideas are rejected by the other members, however, who believe Krei is too high-profile for such sinister plots. Just then, Baymax reveals to hold medical information that allows him to track Yokai and find his location, leaving Hiro to express the idea of turning himself and his friends into a team of heroes in order to catch him.
Unlike the rest of the team, Fred immediately agrees to the idea, excitably expressing his love for the concept and allows the friends to use his home as a training ground. Because of his love of Japanese monsters, Fred is given a battle suit with the appearance of a Kaiju and the ability to breath fire. After some training with the help of Heathcliff, the team heads to an abandoned island, where Yokai is thought to be hidden. The objective is to remove Yokai's kabuki mask. This will not only reveal his identity but cease his control over the Microbots. As the team sneaks inside, Fred sings his own theme music (much to the annoyance of Wasabi) until they manage to find a large device in the mix of restoration. Through a series of recorded footage, the device is revealed to be a teleportation portal built by Alistair Krei, which was destroyed after a terrible accident resulting in the supposed death of a girl named Abigail. They then find Fred's theory more believable that Yokai is Krei belieing that the footage must mean that Krei became Yokai to steal back his invention. Before they can see more, Yokai attacks, and Fred immediately jumps into battle, only to be defeated instantly. Eventually, Yokai is uncovered by Hiro and revealed to be Callaghan.
According to the professor, he used Hiro's Microbots to escape his death, meaning Tadashi's death was for nothing. Blaming the professor for the death of his brother, Hiro corrupts Baymax and orders the robot to kill the villain, prompting Fred, Go Go, and Wasabi to intervene, knowing murder is never the answer. Callaghan manages to escape just as Honey's able to restore Baymax and a frustrated Hiro leaves the island, leaving his friends stranded. Fortunately, Fred is able to contact Heathcliff, who rescues the group on the family helicopter.
Once they return home, Hiro, Fred, and the others are able to reconcile with the promise that they would catch Callaghan the right way. Afterward, they reveal to have found another piece of footage from the island, where it is revealed Abigail was Callaghan's daughter. Fred immediately realizes that Callaghan's madness is driven by revenge upon Krei, "This is a revenge story." and the friends rush out to save the tycoon at his headquarters. After a brief battle, Callaghan captures each member of the team, grabbing Fred by all limbs of his suit; hoping to brutally rip the boy apart. Realizing it is only a suit, Fred manages to escape and uses the skills of his time as a mascot to destroy Callaghan's Microbots, leaving the latter powerless. Before the portal meant to destroy Krei's building destroys itself, Baymax senses life within the machine and rushes inside along with Hiro to retrieve the civilian. While Baymax loses his life, Hiro returns with the survivor, Abigail, who is taken into medical care, whilst Callaghan is arrested.
After Callaghan's downfall and the safety of San Fransokyo is restored, Fred and the others return to their normal lives, happily welcoming Hiro into San Fransokyo Tech as an official student and taking him on a tour. Over time, Hiro finds out he can rebuild Baymax because his healthcare chip was saved.
Despite agreeing to go back to their regular lives, Fred still believed the team should go out and fight supervillains, and one night when Hiro stayed at the SFIT to create Baymax's new body, Fred met with the rest of the team to have them go on "night patrol", although they tell him that the superhero deal was a one-time thing and did not want to lose anyone else than Baymax. Still, Fred insists and convinces them, then they go out and stop a car going at high speed, only to be embarrassed when they find out it was a pregnant woman being driven to the hospital. Fred goes back to his mansion and stands on top of the roof under the rain, monologuing to himself about the superhero life.
Hiro is successfully able to recreate Baymax, but before he can upload his old memories, the body goes haywire and ends up caught by Mr. Yama and his thugs. Hiro is blackmailed by Yama, and so he goes to Fred's mansion and asks him for help. With the help of Fred, Hiro gets access to Professor Granville's office and takes a paperweight from her desk. Both then go to Yama's office and give him the item, but instead of giving back Baymax like he promised, captures both Fred and Hiro in a safe room.
The rest of the team are alerted of this by Baymax's consciousness in a computer, and they go rescue Fred, Hiro and the Baymax body whilst suited up, again helped by Heathcliff in the helicopter to escape, then Hiro returned the item to Granville's office. Fred designed a superhero signal (that mistakenly said "Halp" instead of "Help") for whenever they were needed and showed to Go Go, Wasabi and Honey Lemon, but once more they refused to keep being superheroes.
Fred then revealed he had come up with the name "Big Hero 6" for the team after he had thought up many names but felt that one suited best, and despite his friends still refusing, he went to Tadashi's lab and talked with Hiro and Baymax about it, claiming that the rest did like the name. Hiro makes a new superhero chip for Baymax which Fred admired, but then Professor Granville entered the lab and told Hiro he had to take the choice whether to become a good student or follow Fred's path, talking about him negatively.
Hiro decides to listen to Granville and continues studying the following days, despite Fred's efforts into dragging him to become a superhero. Later, the lonely Fred uses his superhero signal but feels down, thinking there really might not be anything else they could fight against. Not long after though, an army of Baymax Clones are revealed to have been created by Yama, and the robots attack San Fransokyo while Yama steals the paperweight himself. The superhero team is reformed to beat Yama and the Baymaxes, and then stop a full-speed train when the mysterious item breaks and releases a powerful energy that overcharges it. The team destroy the item and officially become the Big Hero 6, with Fred rejoining his friends to protect the city from any and all dangers; mostly in honor of the aspiring Tadashi whose dream was to help people.
In the film's post-credits, Fred is at his house, staring at the portrait of his parents to cope with his familial loneliness. Wondering how his father would feel if he knew of the events that recently occurred, Fred lets out his feelings in front of the portrait, until he accidentally uncovers a secret passageway leading into a technological lair, filled with weapons, gadgetry, and a superhero outfit. Astonished, Fred takes a quick look around, until his father suddenly arrives and reveals his secret life as a superhero to his son. Fred embraces his father out of excitement and joy before the latter explains they have a lot to talk about.
- #4Honey Lemonselective
Keys: Honey · Secondary: Lemon
Not much is known much about Honey Lemon, although "Big Hero 6 the Series", in Season 2 episode 4, "Something's Fishy" Honey Lemon says highschool is where she fell in love with chemistry, also mentioning how she fell in love with French exchange student Andre. As a child, she had taste for clothing and cooking. She also experimented in her family's tool shed (which suffered terrible consequences) with chemicals found under the kitchen sink.[2]
She also participated in "The Nation's Got Flavor", and ended up as a 2nd season runner-up.[2]
Her passion for chemistry soon led her to enrollment at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology with the goal of introducing energy-efficient, environmentally friendly chemical formulas.Honey is a tremendously intelligent, self-proclaimed "chemistry whiz" and an incredibly bubbly and optimistic woman as cute as her namesake rolled into an exuberant ball of energy. Arguably the most extroverted member of Big Hero 6, Honey is always upbeat, perky, optimistic, cute, caring and outgoing; when she's around, she brings everyone into a better mood and alleviates conflict. Honey loves living the experience with her friends and seems to find everything in life interesting, thus she never finds a melancholic or dull moment. She is humorously photogenic and tends to take pictures and selfies with her friends whenever she finds a moment that excites her. Despite her cute personality, Honey can occasionally lose her temper.
Alongside her bubbly nature, Honey's intelligence is profound and possesses an intimate passion for chemistry and nature, to the point of eccentricity. Coupling this with her enthusiasm, she has an unexpected love of danger and experiencing surprising and sudden events. This is demonstrated by the fact that handling hazardous and volatile substances in her line of work does not faze her at all - on the contrary, she is excited to take part in it.
Of all her teammates, Honey is also the most observant. Throughout their time as heroes, she managed to interpret many other pieces of evidence regarding the identity and motives of Yokai, having found his refurbished portal, as well as a recording to show his true intentions. This arguably relates to the fact that Honey is the most intelligent member of the team, aside from Hiro.
According to supplemental materials, Honey is very environmental, as her passion for chemistry also comes from her desire to benefit the world. She believes in using chemistry to one day replace industrial and potentially pollutive methods with simple and safer applications.
Though she is known to be a lover of chemistry, she also developed a love for art, but kept this a secret from her friends because science and art were considered opposite sides by the students of San Fransokyo Institute of Technology and the San Fransokyo Art Institute; as well as the fact that both schools are rival institutions. She unknowingly revealed this to Go Go since she sleep-talks and eventually, all of her friends found this out, but were accepting and had without a issue.Honey Lemon is a young Latina woman of rather tall and slim stature, even without her trademark platform shoes. She has light tan skin, green eyes and long, straight honey-blonde hair (hence her name) that reaches halfway down her back. For some reason, in the end credits and in the TV series depicts her with more ginger-colored hair, perhaps to make her standard yellow color scheme stand out more.
Her hair is often held back by some kind of headband, and she wears a pair of large magenta-framed glasses which also functions as her impromptu safety goggles. She also wears light makeup that simply consists of pink lipstick.
In terms of attire, Honey Lemon often changes clothing throughout the movie, showcasing the audience that her wardrobe consists of clothing that are 1960s and early 1970s-styled, many which are often in different bright colors such as yellows, pinks and oranges. At the very least, her usual one is a yellow headband, a long yellow cardigan-coat over an equally long, sleeveless, brighter-yellow dress with a white peter-pan collar and a set of white sheer leggings, orange calf-length socks with frilled-cuffs, and strapped yellow platform shoes.
While encountering Yokai for the first time, she wore a large white peter-pan collared sweater with a pink ribbon and a headband in the same color. She wears a red, pink and beige horizontal-striped skirt with pink polka-dotted sheer leggings.
At Tadashi's funeral, she wears a black long-sleeved dress with a belt and a white peter-pan collar with black tights and her hair up in a modest bun.
In her superhero form, Honey Lemon's costume consists of a latex, high-collared dark magenta under-suit with finger holes which is under a red-and-fuchsia armor-like dress with thin white linings, a red belt around the waist, and magenta platform boots with pink laces and heels. She never donned her glasses, instead wearing a helmet that is the same color as her dress but with orange accents. Hung over her shoulder is her special purse for combat, in which there is a keyboard depicting the periodic table so that she can come up with a formula to create her chem-balls. Out of the team, her suit is the least armored, but this keeps her nimble and agile when attacking.
In the series, however, her helmet went from having a transparent visor in the film, to being pink and only covering her eyes.Like her teammates, Honey Lemon does not have superpowers, but possesses high intelligence that more than makes up for it. She is a member of the superhero team Big Hero 6.
Contents 1 Background 2 Personality 3 Appearance 4 Powers and Abilities 4.1 Equipment 4.2 Battle Suits 5 History 6 Quotes 6.1 Movie 7 Trivia 8 Appearances 9 Gallery 10 References Background Not much is known much about Honey Lemon, although "Big Hero 6 the Series", in Season 2 episode 4, "Something's Fishy" Honey Lemon says highschool is where she fell in love with chemistry, also mentioning how she fell in love with French exchange student Andre. As a child, she had taste for clothing and cooking. She also experimented in her family's tool shed (which suffered terrible consequences) with chemicals found under the kitchen sink.[2]
She also participated in "The Nation's Got Flavor", and ended up as a 2nd season runner-up.[2]
Her passion for chemistry soon led her to enrollment at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology with the goal of introducing energy-efficient, environmentally friendly chemical formulas.
Personality Honey is a tremendously intelligent, self-proclaimed "chemistry whiz" and an incredibly bubbly and optimistic woman as cute as her namesake rolled into an exuberant ball of energy.
She unknowingly revealed this to Go Go since she sleep-talks and eventually, all of her friends found this out, but were accepting and had without a issue.

Battle Suits Honey Lemon has used different types of armors to fight along with Big Hero 6 and defeat their foes.
Super Armor: It's her main armor, and the one she uses along with her chem-purse. Forest Armor: When she went to Muirahara Woods to save Fred, Baymax and Hiro, she made an armor with wood and forest materials, and used sap balls to replace her chem-balls. Ultra Armor: An enhanced armor made of titanium, which was silver and black with some pink parts. In Season 2, this armor is repainted, where the silver parts are now black and the color of the Chem-Purse is changed to match the black with pink details. At the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, Honey Lemon and her colleagues are in the process of creating new inventions for the world to see. Honey is working on chemical metal embrittlement when she is introduced to the younger brother of her friend and classmate Tadashi Hamada, Hiro, who's in the middle of a tour throughout the university. After showing her experiment to Hiro, Honey joins the others in the former's meeting with Fred, who notes the occasion of when he once asked Honey to concoct a formula that would turn him into a fire-breathing lizard at will, though she denied his request, believing that such ambitions weren't science.
Later on, after Hiro decides that he wants to join the university, Tadashi informs him of the annual science fair that would bestow upon him a chance to showcase an invention and if the showcase impresses the school's head professor, Robert Callaghan, he'll be granted with enrollment. Honey joins the Hamada brothers, along with the rest of her friends, in assisting Hiro in creating a mass amount of miniature robotic nano-bots known as the Microbots.
On the day of the fair, Honey stands by Hiro's side for support, taking photos with the rest of her friends to remember the occasion. Fortunately, the fair is a success and Hiro is granted enrollment within the school. Honey and the others celebrate his triumph by heading to Cass' café while Hiro and Tadashi stay behind for some alone time, during which Tadashi and supposedly Callaghan are killed in a deadly fire, the latter being trapped in the burning school building and the former attempting to save him.
Honey and the others join together in comforting the Hamada family over Tadashi's death, though Hiro distances himself from the group for several weeks. One night, however, they find him wandering around the city with Baymax, Tadashi's healthcare robot, prompting them to follow behind.
Unbeknownst to the team, Hiro's Microbots were stolen by a mysterious man named Yokai, who he and Baymax were in the process of capturing. Worried for the safety of his friends, Hiro encourages the gang to leave, but a comforting Honey steps up and refuses to be pushed away, wanting to help her young friend recover from Tadashi's demise. Before the conversation can go any further, however, Yokai soon spots the group near the docks and immediately attacks (though not before Honey manages to snap a quick picture in awe). Honey and the others evade the villain in Wasabi's van, where Hiro explains the situation. While Wasabi believes that Yokai is out to kill them, the eternally optimistic Honey reassures her friends that they don't know if he really is trying to kill them until Yokai throws a car at their vehicle (prompting her to scream hysterically "He's trying to kill us!!"). Fortunately, the friends are able to escape with their lives after falling into the bay and unintentionally fooling Yokai into believing them to be dead.
The team then takes refuge at Fred's mansion home, where they are able to recover from the incident. While they rest, Hiro begins to ponder Yokai's identity. Fortunately, Baymax reveals to have his health information (having scanned him during the escapade), allowing him access to tracking the villain. With this, Hiro suggests that the group upgrade themselves into a team of crime-fighting heroes. However, Honey believes that such an idea may not be the best, as they're merely a bunch of nerds. Even so, Hiro assures them that they can be far more and, with that, the group goes through with his plans. Honey receives a special purse capable of creating chemical weapons in the form of chem-balls. With these, Honey can create a variety of unique attacks, making her a powerful member of the team.
After some training, the group sets out to an abandoned island, where Yokai is said to be hidden. Once they arrive, they learn that the island was once a facility used by Alistair Krei for building and testing a teleportation portal. Unfortunately, during the testing process, the test pilot, Abigail, was apparently killed, resulting in the facility's closure.
The information leads the team to believe that Krei is the man behind Yokai's mask, wanting to rebuild the portal. Just as they reach this conclusion, Yokai appears and attacks them again. Honey assists Go Go in battling the villain, but she is soon defeated. The battle ends with Hiro finally unmasking the villain, who is then revealed to be Professor Callaghan, shocking every member of the team.
Callaghan explains that he used the Microbots to escape his supposed death, callously brushing off the fact that Tadashi died trying to save him. Enraged, Hiro removes Baymax's healthcare chip (the chip that gives him his sweet and caring nature), leaving him to become a ruthless killing machine with one directive: to destroy Callaghan. Wasabi, Go Go and Fred attempt to fend off Baymax, knowing that murder is not the answer, but fail. Meanwhile, Honey recovers Baymax's original programming chip and, just as he is about to deliver the deathblow to Callaghan, restores the robot to his normal peaceful self. Unfortunately, this allows Callaghan the opportunity to escape. Hiro scolds Honey on her actions, furious that Callaghan had managed to avoid death, but Wasabi and Go Go defend her, telling him that they never agreed to kill Callaghan. This only fuels Hiro's anger even further and, as a result, Honey and the others are left stranded on the island as Hiro storms off in frustration with Baymax, though they are eventually rescued by Fred's servant Heathcliff some time afterwards.
Once they return to San Fransokyo, they comfort Hiro, knowing that his actions were merely out of grief. After the boy apologizes for letting his anger and grief blind him towards them and the team forgives him, Honey reveals to have found another recording from the facility that reveals that the test pilot, Abigail, was the daughter of Callaghan, revealing that his schemes are driven out of revenge. Honey and the others rush to Krei Tech to save the founder, only to be attacked by a vengeful Callaghan. During the battle, Honey encloses herself in a chemical bubble for protection, but Callaghan strikes his Microbots through the surface in an attempt to impale her. Fortunately, Honey manages to use her chemicals to grab hold of one of the Microbot tentacles, which pulls her out of the bubble upon retraction, thus saving her. After reuniting with her teammates, Hiro instructs a new plan--to take out the Microbots and send them within the sucking portal. To keep him from noticing their plans, Honey and Fred set off a distraction, combining their abilities to create an array of clouds, thus blocking Callaghan from witnessing the damage that they're causing to the Microbots from below. Using her purse, Honey manages to wipe out an immense amount of Microbot clusters, putting the final touches on rendering the masked villain powerless.
After Callaghan is defeated and the portal is taken down, the magnetic containment field of the machine begins to glitch, sending it on the verge of exploding. Before the team can retreat, however, Baymax senses life within the portal, leading the team to believe it to be Abigail. Baymax and Hiro journey inside to save her, but due to a major setback, Baymax is forced to sacrifice his life in the process. Even so, Hiro and Abigail return safely and with Callaghan foiled and behind bars, the city is saved.
Honey and her friends return to their normal lives, officially welcoming Hiro into San Fransokyo Tech, greeting him at the Lucky Cat Café in the morning. Honey and her friends take Hiro in a tour around the school and he later settles in Tadashi's former lab.
Meanwhile, Fred attempts to reunite the rest of her friends to once again act as the superhero team they had formed, but Honey negates as she does not want to lose anyone else besides Baymax and almost Hiro as well. Despite the negations, they all gear up and go on night patrol, following a high-speed car and stopping it only to embarrassingly find out it was a pregnant woman going into labor and her lover rushing to the hospital.
Hiro on the other hand found Baymax's original healthcare chip and restores the robot, but then was caught by Mr. Yama, who captured Hiro at his office along with Fred. The rest of the team found out about this and saved them helped by Heathcliff again, with Honey Lemon freezing Yama using one of her chem-balls, though she did not feel good about having to do it.
Later, Yama reveals an army of Baymax Clones he secretly created when he kept Hiro and Fred captive, and sent the robots out to attack the streets. Honey Lemon and her friends went to stop them; later finding out about a mysterious power source that Yama stole from the SFIT was about to explode. The item over-charged a train with its energy, but the team managed to stop it in time and destroyed it.
Upon realizing all the lives they saved, Honey rejoins her friends in the resurgence of Big Hero 6, who set out to protect San Fransokyo from any and all dangers in honor of Tadashi's dream of helping a lot of people.
- #5SFIT/San Fransokyo Institute of Technology
Keys: SFIT · Secondary: San Fransokyo Institute of Technology
By 1916, the SFIT and the San Fransokyo Art Institute became rival schools due to their different points of view—because science is objective while art is subjective. Both school played pranks on each other for a week, and this turned into a yearly tradition known as "Rivalry Week" that continued even in modern times.
Many decades later, Professor Granville taught robotics to students such as Wendy Wower and Trevor Trengrove. Trengrove stole Wower's thesis on artificial intelligence and claimed as his own. This turned him famous and an inspiration for many of the future students.
Professor Robert Callaghan, also a genius of robotics, began to teach in the institute and inspired young people since he invented his own Laws of Robotics as well as the Callaghan-Catmull spline. His reputation also made him the dean of the school.
Eventually, another young student, Bob Aken, proved to be a genius with many great ideas. Professor Granville escpecially noticed his potential and granted the boy his own lab, even allowing him to stay up at night all alone as he continued working after-hours on his inventions. However, these inventions started turning more and more risky, and one night, Aken began his work on an energy amplifier. Because Aken was unsupervised, he did not consider how dangerous the invention was and it blew up on his face, damaging Bob's brain and one side of his face. Granville witnessed when Aken was taken to the hospital, to never be seen again at SFIT—even though he survived. The incident was hidden and reported as a pipe burst, with Granville taking the only remaining piece of Aken's amplifier which she kept as a memento and turned into a paperweight. Yet, rumors started spreading soon about the truth of the incident while Granville felt extreme guilt from never setting limits to Bob, driving her to resign as a professor.
Alistair Krei, coming from a rich family, was also a student at SFIT, but he took many shortcuts and did things the easy way to achieve his goals, something that Professor Callaghan disapproved of. After graduating, he started his own tech company: Krei Tech.
Few generations later, Frederick Frederickson IV, an English major from the SF State school, decided to apply at SFIT for the role of mascot instead of student, as he had no scientific knowledge but still had a certain love for science. With a recommendation letter from SF State and a large donation by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Frederickson, Fred was admitted as the mascot and given a dinosaur-like suit, free to roam around the institute.
At the same time, Tadashi Hamada attended the school and earned Aken's former laboratory through hard work, befriending Fred and other students such as Go Go Tomago, Wasabi and Honey Lemon—all of whom were nicknamed by Fred. The group of friends became close and participated in SFIT and SFAI's rivalry week. The SFIT students pranked SFAI by stealing their Lenore Shimamoto statue, while SFAI students painted the SFIT's cafeteria.
One student named Olivia Vega admired Go Go's speed-based inventions and followed her around all the time, and although Go Go wasn't exactly her friend, she wasn't bothered by it. However, Olivia saw herself forced to drop out because she had to take care of her grandmother and could not afford paying tuition—while Go Go was seemingly unaware of this.
Eventually, Professor Callaghan headed the robotics program for Tadashi and friends, and so Tadashi began the project titled "Baymax": a nursing robot inspired by Trengrove's (stolen) artificial intelligence thesis and Tadashi's own desire to help people. However, since Tadashi was not an expert in healthcare, he asked for Lily's help to build a programming chip for the robot, which contained a large database on everything related to health; after several failed test runs in which the robot's body would malfunction, Tadashi finished Baymax and showed the invention to his friends and aunt, then kept the robot stored in his lab. Tadashi also tried to convince his younger, 14-year-old genius brother Hiro to enroll into SFIT, but Hiro claimed to be too smart for it and instead took a dangerous hobby in Bot Fighting to make money from bets, despite it being illegal. One night, Tadashi agrees to takes Hiro to a bot-fight, but instead drives to the school so that Hiro can see what it's like from inside, in another attempt to convince him to join. Hiro meets Tadashi's friends, Baymax, and Callaghan, and the boy is awestruck by the place, finally convinced that he wants to attend it. Tadashi and his friends help Hiro with his new project: Microbots, to present at the annual showcase for acceptance into SFIT. On the exposition day, Hiro becomes nervous but manages to give a good presentation that impresses Callaghan—who gives Hiro his acceptance letter. Following the conclusion of the convention, a fire is started in the Exposition Hall, forcing everyone to evacuate. In reality, it was Callaghan who started the fire to seize Hiro's Microbots for himself and fake his own death. He is able to protect himself from the fire with the bots' help, but another student noticed he was still there and Tadashi is the one who decides to go look for him. However, Tadashi dies as the building explodes while he is inside.
After Tadashi's death, Baymax is taken home and Hiro becomes depressed, rejecting the SFIT letter and preparing to go back into bot-fights. However, Baymax is accidentally activated by Hiro, and after a series of events, Hiro, Baymax, Honey Lemon, Fred, Wasabi and Go Go find out that the fire at SFIT was planned by Callaghan, who was still alive and wanted revenge against Alistair Krei because a failed experiment by Krei "killed" his daughter Abigail. The team of friends create armors and weapons based off their SFIT experiments and confront Callaghan with them, saving his daughter after learning she still lived, and finally arresting him—but losing Baymax in the process. Having avenged his brother's death, Hiro officially becomes a SFIT student and attends the school with Go Go, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred. A building dedicated to Tadashi is erected at the campus, in which Hiro accepts the honor for his late brother. As Hiro's first semester begins, Professor Granville returns to SFIT after so long to replace Callaghan, becoming the new dean and Hiro's thermodynamics teacher, but hiding her past by being announced as a new professor. Hiro goes to Tadashi's former lab, remembering him and his robot Baymax, when he notices that Baymax's healthcare chip was still safe in Baymax's armor fist and realizing that he can rebuild him. Yet, Granville forbids Hiro from doing so as she tries not to make the same mistakes she made with Bob Aken, but Hiro doesn't stop so he simultaneously attends classes while working on Baymax during his free time.
However, Bob Aken has resurfaced under the alias of Obake, and intended to "make a better city" by destroying all of San Fransokyo. He hires the criminal Mr. Yama to retrieve his energy amplifier from SFIT, so Yama uses an army of Baymax Clones to invade the school in order to retrieve it. Yet, Yama is stopped by Hiro and his friends donning their armors once more. They destroy the amplifier, and upon realizing how many lives they saved, become motivated to continue living a double life as superheroes, naming their team Big Hero 6 as suggested by Fred, and serving as a way to honor Tadashi's desire to help everyone in need. Obake watches in the shadows as the team have their first victory, while the city is unaware that he is the real mastermind behind the attack.
Granville decides to go easy on Hiro and allows him to keep Tadashi (and Obake)'s former lab, but also introduces him to bio-tech student Karmi, who used to be the youngest student prior to Hiro's enrollment, as a way to have both socialize. Though at first Karmi pretends to be friendly with Hiro, both end up becoming rivals. Hiro's circle of friends become Granville's protégés and at some point, she discovers that they are Big Hero 6, even though she keeps their secret unrevealed.
Trevor Trengrove makes a comeback at the SFIT to open a workshop for students to work alongside him, but in reality he did it because Yama had obtained evidence of him stealing Wendy Wower's thesis, so Trevor was forced to work for Yama and make the students create upgrades for Yama's new robot Mega Yama. Following Yama's defeat by Big Hero 6, Trengrove admits the truth and promises Wendy that he will do what is right and tell the world she is the real genius.
Soon, the annual "Rivalry Week" tradition is coming up and it is the first time Hiro participates in it, so he wants to help pranking SFAI by stealing their Lenore Shimamoto statue. Granville surprisingly approves of this and also gets Wasabi and Fred to try keeping the cafeteria safe from SFAI pranksters, but they fail due to their inexperience.
Granville notices the rising crime in San Fransokyo and the SFIT attacks, so she creates a Security System to attempt keeping the institute safe.
Hiro however learns slowly about Granville's past thanks to Wendy and Trevor, and becomes skeptical of her intentions, then while investigating about her, Obake hacks the security robots and forces both Hiro and Granville to be trapped inside a classroom until help arrives. There, Granville tells Hiro part about her story with Bob Aken and both later become closer as Hiro promises he will not end up like Bob did.
Another famous scientist named Liv Amara and her company Sycorax fund SFIT for a new bio-tech building, and decide to visit the institute upon learning about Baymax and Hiro Hamada. When Hiro tells her he did not create Baymax, she quickly loses interest and instead meets Karmi, causing Hiro jealousy because both girls get along well. The SFIT hold a gala for Liv where she announces the building, but the event is interrupted by a mutant monster, Orso Knox, which Big Hero 6 had previously faced and finally stop him thanks to Karmi and one of her inventions.
When Obake is close to completing his plan and the SFIT's Open House Expo is coming, Hiro decides to build an energy amplifier himself to challenge Granville, who forbid him from working on it as it was the same project that caused Aken's fate, but Hiro thought it was because Granville believed he wouldn't be able to do it.
When the day of the expo comes, Honey Lemon's project revealed the shocking fact that Lenore Shimamoto had caused the Great Catastrophe of 1906, and later Obake also walks into the SFIT for the first time in decades to steal Hiro's amplifier. He talks with Granville and "thanks" her for turning him into the man he is today, but Granville is terrified to see his face glowing from the incident. Along with his associates Globby, Noodle Burger Boy, Momakase, and Buddy Guards, they wreak havoc at the SFIT and leave when Obake obtains the item. Granville finally reveals to her students that she knows their identities, and tells them everything about Bob Aken.
When Obake's scheme is thwarted, he is presumed to have died and Hiro gives his amplifier to Granville so she can keep it locked and safe inside her office.Ito Ishioka Robotics Lab The center for the university's robotics program, this building was named after Professor Ito Ishioka. The building is divided into three floors entirely covered with glass to let in natural light, and is powered by solar panel. It was formerly headed by Robert Callaghan until Granville replaced him, aHiro's Lab It was formerly Bob Aken's lab until his accident made him leave, and time later it became Tadashi's workspace, given to him thanks to his hard work.
After Tadashi died, Hiro wanted to use it too in memory of his brother but Professor Granville forbid him from being inside it since she wanted him to earn it like his brother did, though later she decided to let him work in it as she believed Tadashi's legacy would prevent Hiro from following Aken's dangerous mistakes.
The lab is also where Baymax was originally created by Tadashi, and later rebuilt by Hiro.nd is currently attended by Hiro, Go Go, Wasabi and Honey. Hiro's lab is also found in it.Exposition Hall This hall is where the annual showcase for applicants take place. Some companies and alumni also attend this showcase as an opportunity to hire young prodigies or even provide them a scholarship.
Periodic Table CaFe It is the name given to the school's cafeteria/dining hall, which is another separate building. Its name is stylized as CaFe to represent the elements Calcium (Ca) and Iron (Fe).
Tadashi Hamada Hall The building was built by Krei Tech Industries in memory of the late Tadashi Hamada who perished in the fire that consumed the Exposition Hall.SFIT is featured in Baymax. Though the campus is the same design as the film, the plot changes and Hiro is already attending classes alongside Tadashi. Although Hiro has already met Fred, GoGo. Honey Lemon and Wasabi, he strongly dislikes them at the beginning of the story.
The only SFIT professor shown in the manga is Professor Aquino, who initially hates Hiro and sabotages his Microbots project in an attempt to have him expelled, although he is caught and suspended. At the end of the manga, Aquino returns but he and Hiro make amends. Dr. Callaghan is not a teacher at SFIT, but is the chairman for the showcase contest in which Tadashi introduces Baymax and Hiro demonstrates the Microbots (and wins first place). Callaghan steals the Microbots as he works in secret with Tadashi at a hidden lab within SFIT to rebuild the Silent Sparrow portal. In this version of the story, there is no fire incident, as Tadashi disappears into the portal instead. Since Krei Tech is also not involved with the creation of the portal in the manga, the Akuma Island base is repurposed as a test lab also owned by SFIT on the island.
