Bev Switzler

Beverly Switzler was a Cleveland resident who supported herself through modeling before she became entangled in the schemes of the financial sorcerer Pro-Rata. He captured Beverly and Howard the Duck so they could recover the missing gem-key to the Cosmic Calculator. Beverly worked beside Howard through the resulting dimensional journey and helped him survive until Pro-Rata was defeated. She then offered Howard a place in her home and became his closest companion on Earth.

Life with Howard repeatedly pulled Beverly into threats that ranged from bizarre criminals to supernatural forces. She remained beside him during his travels and helped Paul Same recover Howard after he suffered a breakdown and was confined in an institution. Their shared hardships gradually turned their friendship into a lasting romance despite repeated separations and the instability surrounding Howard’s life.

Beverly’s former college acquaintance Lester Verde later resurfaced as Doctor Bong and abducted her with Howard. Verde threatened Howard’s life unless Beverly agreed to marry him. She accepted under coercion but continued resisting her captor until she escaped his control and reunited with Howard. Beverly later pursued veterinary work in Maine while still facing the strange consequences of her long association with Howard.

Appearance: Bev Switzler has fair peach skin and a slender curvy build with soft shoulders a narrow waist full breasts rounded hips and long legs. Her eyes are light hazel beneath arched auburn brows. Her vivid copper red hair falls past her shoulders in thick voluminous waves with broad curls and several loose spiraling ends.

She wears a sleeveless yellow dress covered in dense floral patterns. Orange red cream and pale green flowers spread across the fabric with small leaves and rounded petals between them. The fitted bodice has broad shoulder straps and a low overlapping neckline that follows the shape of her chest. A wide gathered waistband circles her midsection.

The skirt begins at her waist and expands into a full flowing shape that reaches below her knees. Deep folds run through the fabric and create broad layered sections along the front and sides. The hem curves unevenly with the same floral pattern continuing across every panel. Her arms and lower legs remain uncovered.

Personality: Beverly is compassionate and adaptable. She accepts Howard without treating him as a spectacle and gives him shelter when he has nowhere else to go. Her optimism contrasts with his constant cynicism but she does not ignore his faults or allow his temper to control their relationship. Beverly can endure danger without losing her concern for others and often provides the emotional stability that Howard lacks.

Howard is Beverly’s closest friend and enduring romantic partner. Their relationship survives poverty and supernatural disasters as well as long periods of separation. Beverly understands the fear and loneliness beneath Howard’s anger while Howard remains deeply devoted to her even when he struggles to express it. They frequently argue but continue returning to each other because their bond is built on trust formed through years of shared hardship.

Paul Same is one of Beverly’s trusted friends and has helped her rescue Howard during moments when he could not protect himself. Doctor Bong represents the opposite kind of connection. His obsession began during their college years and later became violent possession. Beverly never returned his feelings and viewed their forced marriage as a means of keeping Howard alive rather than a genuine commitment.

Beverly spent most of her life without superhuman abilities. She has experience in acting and modeling as well as first aid. Her later veterinary training gives her practical medical knowledge involving animals. She is resourceful during emergencies and can think clearly while dealing with unfamiliar technology or supernatural danger.
